The 2017 Malaysia Super League (Malay: Liga Super Malaysia 2017) is the 14th season of the highest Malaysian football league since its inception in 2004. Johor Darul Ta'zim as the defending champions.

Teams

Twelve teams will compete in the league – the top ten teams from the previous season, as well as two teams promoted from the Malaysia Premier League. Melaka United became the first club to be promoted after a 1–1 draw with Johor Darul Ta'zim II on 9 September 2016 meant they were guaranteed an automatic place. They play Malaysia Super League football for the first time since the 2006–07 season. PKNS became the second club to be promoted, after 2–0 win against Kuala Lumpur on 21 October 2016. The two promoted clubs replace PDRM and Terengganu.
