The 2000–01 NBL season was the 23rd season of competition since its establishment in 1979. A total of 11 teams contested the league. The regular season was played between 23 October 2000 and 31 March 2001, and was followed by a post-season featuring the top four from 4 April 2001 until 29 April 2001.

Regular season

The home and away season took place over 24 rounds between 23 October 2000 and 31 March 2001 with finals starting 4 April 2001 until 17 April 2001 and grand final on 22–29 April 2001.
