Although the Whalers finished last in shots on goal during the regular season (2,192), they scored 284 goals to finish with a 13.0 shooting percentage, good enough for 5th in the league (tied with the Vancouver Canucks).^[1]^[2]

June 15, 1992 - Brad Shaw traded to the New Jersey Devils for cash.
June 15, 1992 - Mark Hunter and future considerations traded to the Washington Capitals for Nick Kypreos. Hartford later sent Yvon Corriveau to Washington to complete the deal.
June 16, 1992 - Whalers trade their 1993 sixth round draft pick (Rick Mrozik) to the Minnesota North Stars for Allen Pedersen.
June 24, 1992 - Whalers sign defenseman Jim Agnew as a free agent.
July 8, 1992 - Future considerations traded to the New York Rangers for Tim Kerr. Hartford later sent their 1993 seventh round draft pick (Sergei Kondrashkin) to the Rangers to complete the deal.
August 6, 1992 - Whalers sign Trevor Stienburg as a free agent.
