Theo Martins

Theophilus Martins III is an American musician, songwriter, record producer, actor, DJ, designer and artist.[1][2][3] His artistic output has drawn praise from GQ magazine, The Washington Post, Wallpaper Magazine.[4] Martins began his early career as a child actor landing a role in Steven Spielberg's Academy Award-nominated film,[5] Amistad.[6]

In 2015 Martins founded Good Posture, his art & research platform that encompasses entertainment, music, fashion, and art. As a multimedia creative collective and record label the company serves as an umbrella for all of Martins’ endeavors.[7][8]

In 2017 Martins opened Cereal & Such, a breakfast cereal bar in the Virgil Village area of Los Angeles.[9][10] In 2020 Martins created Food For Thought, an digital web series told through the experiences of a modern-day first-generation Nigerian-American living with a Cereal box.[11] The show was produced by Issa Rae's, Issa Rae Productions.[12]

Life & Career

Martins credits his parents for the musical and artistic exposure while growing up. As Martins embarked into his career as a DJ & Artist, after minor success as a DJ, Martins began to pursue his career as a solo artist. Partnering with Okayplayer, a website co-founded by Amir "Questlove" Thompson, Martins presented his mixtape,The Birth.[13][14]

Martins has since released a set of EP, albums and singles. His full-length album, "TM" received praise from various publications. Martins launched Good Posture, a record label to support his musical endeavors.[15]

In 2015, Martins had collaborated with Chicago, Illinois producer Thelonious Martin. The two began collaborating after confusion over similarities between their names became incessant. "Show Me Around", which debuted on Okayplayer[16] was warmly received and the two began work on a full-length. "Bad Tendencies" premiered on The Fader September 28, 2016, and the two announced a collaborative EP.[17] Martins cites Odd Future member Anwar Carrots as the fuel behind collaborating with Martin.[17][18]

In 2019 Martins launched, "Cereal Sounds Vol. 1" a compilation album featuring, DRAM, Electric Guest, Mez & more. The album supported the launch of Martins' company, Cereal & Such, a cereal company.
