Kurt is a male given name of Germanic origin. It is sometimes confused with Curt, which is more aptly related to the Anglo-Norman name Curtis. Kurt, Cord, Curd, Cort or Kort originated as short forms of the Germanic Konrad or Conrad, depending on geographical usage. Accepted meanings include counselor, advisor, "bold" counselor.
