Jay Chaudhry

Jay Chaudhry (born 1958/1959) is an Indian-American billionaire businessman and the CEO and founder of Zscaler, a cybersecurity company. Prior to this, he founded AirDefense (acquired by Motorola), CipherTrust (acquired by Secure Computing), CoreHarbor (acquired by AT&T) and SecureIT (acquired by Verisign).[2][3]

Early life

Chaudhry was born in Panoh, a Himalayan village without running water in Una district of the state of Himachal Pradesh, India.[4][5][6] He earned a bachelor's degree from Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi, and a master's and MBA from the University of Cincinnati.[7]

Career

In 1997, Chaudhry founded SecureIT and CipherTrust.[7] He is also a board member of Air2Web.[7] After Zscaler's March 2018 IPO,[8] Chaudhry was reckoned to be a billionaire.[6] In 2018, Chaudhry was selected as a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award program in Northern California.[9] With a net worth of $6.9B (as of Oct 2020), Chaudhry was included in the 2020 Forbes 400 list of richest people in America securing a rank of 85th in the list. He is among 7 Indian-Americans who made this list.[10][11]

Personal life

He is married to Jyoti, they have three children, and live in Saratoga, California.[1]
