East Meadow High School is a public high school in the East Meadow Union Free School District. East Meadow High School was founded in 1953. The school serves students in grades 9−12. Approximately 88% of 2007's graduating class continued their education – with 60% going on to four-year colleges and 27% to two-year colleges.

In 1964, East Meadow High School competed on the NBC-TV program “It’s Academic.” Representing EMHS were Stanley D. Chess (team captain), Marta Gutenberg, and Diane Pike. The team came in second.

As of the 2018–19 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,446 students and 129.6 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.2:1. There were 261 students (18.0% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 73 (5.0% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.[1]

Athletics

East Meadow provides has sports programs with three seasons each offering various sports for students to choose.

Fall sports

Football (2006 & 2011 Nassau County Champions), Soccer, Girls Tennis, Volleyball, Cross Country, Field Hockey (2008 County Champions), Cheerleading, Boys Golf, Rockettes/Kickline, Girls Swimming and Diving. The girls' cross country team had a league meet winning streak from October 2000 through October 2009. Their record during this time was approximately 120–0.

Winter sports

Wrestling(1970, 1990, 1994, 2000, & 2007 Nassau County Champions), Girls Basketball, Bowling, Winter Track

Spring sports

Baseball (1997 State Champions), Softball, Lacrosse, Track and Field (2009 Boys' Class A Division I Champions), Men's Tennis, Girls' Badminton.

Music

The East Meadow High School Jet Marching Band has competed in the Columbus Day Parade in New York City. Many students participate in band, orchestra, chorus, music theory, and after school in the pit orchestra, jazz band, string ensemble, and vocal jazz. They also host a summer music program every July, and have their own chapter of Tri-M Music Honor Society, chapter number 2817.
