Patreon seemed to have done some changes to their paycut percentages that people are unhappy about and causing a lot of turmoil. Sadly there aren't any other alternative platforms that offer the same service to english speakers, the closest being Kickstarter's DRIP service, which is currently a closed service that's invitation-only.

tl;dr I tried to do too much at once

Holycrap I'm late. So I've been wanting to do Syrinox with tentacles for a long time now, but didn't really have an incentive to do so until Patreon happened.

I wanted to make it a great special occasion, so I decided to do a 3-part week like I did with the Overwatch one. I thought that by sharing the same color palette between the 3 Syrinox pictures, it would be done faster. This proved to be a mistake, because sharing the palette meant coloring would be easier, but not necessarily faster.

See, the Overwatch ones were done on time because even though it's 3 scenes, I only used 1 background for all of them, whereas for the Syrinox series, all 3 pictures has unique backgrounds that, while not complicated, still has to be drawn separately all by hand which meant a lot of hours of labour.

Combine this with home repairs that came up and meeting deadlines for other illustration work, I couldn't handle the workload to meet the 28th deadline.

The update is being split, with scene 2 and 3 coming in a day or two. Sorry for the delays and complications ??

Hey guys, let's talk about old content and Gumroad for a minute.

When I relaunched the patreon, I had intended for old stuff to be completely inaccessible, as a be-there-or-be-square kinda thing. But a lot of patrons messaged me wanting the past content, so that was why I opened the Gumroad store. But I didn't want to charge full price for old stuff for patrons, so I made it cheaper.

However, this posed another problem. If you can pick and choose what to pay for on Gumroad for less, what's the point of being a patron? That's why I made a 1-month exclusivity and voting powers patreon exlusive, but it seems this wasn't very rewarding.

Ideally, I would have liked to have had a patreon-exclusive Gumroad, but that wasn't possible. However, I thought of a good solution.

Here's how it works:

- Gumroad content will be more expensive at $10.

- $8+ Patrons (who have stayed $8 for at least 1 cycle) who want to buy old content can message me, and I will generate for them a unique coupon code that will give a 50% discount. This means you get it for $5

I think this will make it closest to my ideal situation. Admittedly $10 seems too high for what's inside, but it had to be higher than the patreon for it to work. If you're not a patron and want a specific pack, it's there if you really want it.

Hello everyone, the second month has gone by successfully!

Firstly, I got around to opening an online store to sell my past week content on the Gumroad service. You can find the button above in the updated patreon page.

The content on Gumroad will be old stuff (1+ month old), which means Gumroad will always be 2 content updates behind my patreon, but will be at a lower price than patreon in exchange.

Secondly, I'm gonna try to get going on the next Snow Crocus chapter. It's been a long time, but since it's not under a monthly schedule, I do feel more comfortable letting pages reach a good point before chapter releases.

If you guys have ideas you want me to draw out, feel free to suggest them! I'm not really sure what sticks with you guys yet, so I'm still experimenting around. Tentacles? Exhibitionism?? GORE?? ?? Open to all ideas~

This week is a little different, it's one setting with 3 scenes. Basically 3 pictures in one, rather than 2 totally different ones like usual.

Hello everyone, sorry for the sudden downtime. My patreon got suspended for about a week due to account issues. I didn't get an exact answer to the details on why, but looking at the post-first month processing results, I can see why.

When I resumed my patreon after years of hiatus, I didn't flush out all my old donators. There's no real "kick patron" option on patreon, the only way as far as I know is to block the user, which I didn't want to do and felt inappropriate, so I messaged them all privately about it instead.

After the end-of-month processing, a lot of the old patrons were deemed to be "fraud" probably since they were dead accounts now, and this is what I assume got me flagged.

Anyway that seems to have been sorted out now, and I just now flushed out all the old dead accounts so hopefully this doesn't happen again.

By the way the poll ended during the suspension period so I will hold it again shortly. Sorry for all the trouble hohoho.

Hello everyone! First month of my patreon relaunch has passed by and I wanted to share some thoughts.

The biggest problem I wanted to avoid this time was the over-promising of deliverables. It was what killed my first launch on patreon; I promised way more than what I could feasibly produce in a scheduled period of time. I’m definitely trying build myself into a steady momentum this time around.

-----More or Less Pic Versions?

Picture versions is... an odd thing. With week 2, I definitely made more versions of the 2 pictures than week 1. However, a multi-version friendly picture comes with a problem of being quite static. A scene that captures a moment in high motion and movement does not lend itself well to the multi-version setup.

I have seen people who correlate monetary value purely to the number of picture versions an art-pack contains. Personally, I find it quite pointless to make different versions of a picture unless there is significant change between each variant. Sure, I could stretch 1 picture into 30 and be able to technically say that you’re getting a lot of content, but that’s taking a thesaurus to your middle school essay to pad the word count. I think we can all see through that.

From the start of the relaunch, I have stated that not all of the pictures will have version variants. This is why I made that statement. So far my drawings have been version-friendly, but I definitely will make single-version pictures if the scene is better for it.

-----Is This a Store?

A lot of people definitely do treat patreon as a store. I think it's a fair viewpoint if you prefer it that way, it is a monetary service, after all.

Personally, I view it more as a recurring glorified tip jar, a way for people to go "Hey, I like what you make, here's some money to help you keep doing it," and you get something nice out of it in exchange. If you've ever subscribed to a streamer on TwitchTV, it's the same idea, except you get more than chat emotes.

If you don't like the patreon system and would prefer a store system, I will be selling the update packages separately at a later date.

Hey guys! Thought I'd do a tutorial...ish thing for you all. I thought there'd be more to say in each step but i realized I don't know much about explaining art things. I just do it.

Anyway here's a breakdown on how usually work on my drawings~ You can download the full size of the tutorial in the file attachment to this post.

This is a re-pack of Chapter 1, but I fixed the mosaic pattern problem in the gray tones.

It should look a lot better now, and the chapter 1 extra is also included.
