So I might have mentioned about my desire to release the movie on the 4th of January (today). Sadly it didn’t work out and here’s something to open up on the why’s and who’s.
Civilian Service
This is reason I wanted the movie done by now. My civilian service begins next week and I won’t have that much time to work on the movie as I do now. I’m not saying working on the movie will be totally impossible, but this surely is a distraction I would do without.
If you don’t know what the civilian service is, take a look here!
The setbacks
The biggest reason for the delay is simply the lack of time. I underestimated the time it required to polish this product of the filth it was during the WIP-phase.
SFM itself turned against me at certain times with render-breaking bugs, causing major setbacks on the work-process. Luckily I managed to work them out. Otherwise I would’ve been forced to throw out maybe the best part of the movie out the window.
The voice-actor for Zoey, VoiceLikeCandy, has had some major problems with her recording setup. This has caused the revised dialogue to not be done completely yet. She has been a real trooper though and has been able to provide me with a part of the dialogue, so I can start the lipsync process.
She has been super-stressed with her other projects not meeting their deadlines, so I’ve told her to focus on those for now. Stay strong, Candy!
State of the project
Currently the biggest of fixes and details have been done for the movie. What’s left on the list is:
- The lipsync for the revised dialogue
- Some slight adjustments during that phase as well
- Rendering the whole thing
- The audio
About the trailer
You probably have wondered what the“Just the tip of 2019″ means on the trailer I released not so long ago. It basically is an estimate that the movie will be out during the first months of this year. So I’d say between January and March.
If the movie won’t be done before the end of March, I’ll go insane for sure.
Closure
So that’s basically the current situation. I absolutely hope it will be worth the wait in the end. I’ve learned many things from and during this project, and I promise the mistakes I made here won’t be repeated in my future projects. Those mistakes cost me a lot of time, which is the most precious thing in any project.
I thank all my lucky stars for every single person, who has supported me through this project. Every singe fan, friend, follower and patron is worth their weight in gold for me. There, you made me tear up a bit. Hope that counts as something!
Happy 2019! -BJ
