Have a great late summer! Especially if you can go out and party. .... socially distanced and wearing a mask of course.
Callie Rivers is female, but the sharp eye will notice that she's wearing a traditional MALE yukata. This is intentional. Not everyone is interested in going by social norms, because there's really no social norms. I imagine this may not go well with those who don't like her in-universe.
Callie's Delivery (Callie No Haitatsu) is an in-complete one-shot web comic I been producing that is currently on hiatus. It's been that way for several months, and I really want to return to it soon, but I have massive writer's block, and of course, this mental state I am in. I managed to draw this yesterday though!
Read the comic here! https://www.smackjeeves.com/discover/articleList?titleNo=177313
Welcome to my first Patreon image in like 2.5 months. It's always a good feeling when I get an idea that gets me motivated to actually create, so I was inspired by Mary Blair and the fact that this week is Shark Week in order to produce this! I only watched like one shark-themed program so far so I gotta get moving on that too!
I really want to create at least 2 more pieces before August ends, but we'll see. As you know, it's been difficult for me to get over my mental state these days.

That was quick! SO quick that I now have only 15 minutes to plug this around online so I will continue the rest tomorrow. I animated this first segment of this #Pencilmaton video: "To Bean Or Not To Bean". It is my second Pencilmation episode. I see I am also created for Layout, which is also true! Directed by Matt Wilson, from a script by Jared Woods and storyboards by Neil Kohney.
It's been very difficult to keep up my work ethic. I haven't created anything paid for Patreon in a long time, and I've gone a full week without doing anything, so here's a quick render of what I been doing for an upcoming #Pencilmation cartoon, just so you know I'm trying to continue. Download it as an attachment here.
It's the first 8 seconds of it or so, so look forward to the rest of the cartoon to find out what happens! This was done almost entirely under the pandemic, so a cartoon about opening canned goods, alone in your house, seemed appropriate. I realized I haven't posted sneak-peek WIP of my work before and people on Twitter said you are allowed to with Pencilmation. No word on when the cartoon will be out though.
It took over a year, but I finally have ALL THE ANIMATION READY FOR THE REANIMATE JAM! #duckamuckjam ALERT YOUR FRIENDS! TELL THE MEDIA! GET OUT THE KEGGERS! HOO HOO!!! HOO!!! HOO HOO!!!!! HOO HOO!!! Expect a release date to be announced soon! #daffyduck #duckamuck
Here is my last of the #sixfanart meme images. This time I am focusing on the suggestions made on Twitter, but there weren't enough there to fill out six squares, so I took two of them from Facebook as well. This one isn't as ambitious - there's less interaction with the characters, and they don't cross into each other's square as much- but these are still a lot of fun to do, and help with your creative block.
You can download the full-size, 10000-pxl-wide version of this image here as an attachment!
Welcome to cartoon world where everyone can still dine-in less than 6 feet away from each other, and there's no virus to be seen! This is a fan comic featuring characters created by Alex Dudley from Dtoons Productions (https://www.patreon.com/dtoons/posts), as well as many established characters you may recognize. This was written as a possible idea for a Cartoon Cafe episode, but Alex wouldn't be able to animate it in time for this month, so I offered to make it into a fan comic instead.
This was drawn before I had any idea civil unrest would erupt again in a louder way than even 6 years ago. It's been a trying time trying to figure out a good day to post this. I don't need to repeat all the messages of love, support, and anger everyone has, from people who could express it so much better than I can. I'm actually quite fed up and frustrated, but drawing calms me down, even though it doesn't bring change in a practical way. This year, let this Pride Month stand not only for your orientation, but every color, ethnicity, heritage, and belief. It's not enough that we retweet or post stuff. What we need is action. Donate to legitimate organizations helping black and LGBT communities, learn about history, write to your congressmen, and please vote!
Out of respect for Dtoons' business, and because this contains unoriginal characters owned by companies, this post is not monetized.

Yes I am doing this image meme! And it is not a charged item due to it being fanart, so I am just being safe. I got a TON of suggestions there I separated them into a few images, mainly by social media platform. Facebook is getting 2 or 3, and so far this is the second one, with the focus on animals, and one alien.

Yes I am doing this image meme! And it is not a charged item due to it being fanart, so I am just being safe. I know I haven't added any new artwork on Patreon this month. It's not because I was sick or anything, it's because I was busy working on a second Pencilmation cartoon, and because it's overall harder to keep up the inspiration to create original stuff. I plan to do a few of these, with each image assigned to suggestions from one social media platform. This is from Facebook, for example. I got a TON of suggestions there so I also plan to make more than one Facebook response image meme.

... well this is one awkward Easter celebration stuck indoors. But you know what? At least they're stuck indoors with each other.

A photo my friend on Facebook posted inspired this one. No matter how cute he looks, you do not want to get close to that fox.

I combined two traits of 2020 I am looking forward to. The Summer Olympics, which takes place in Tokyo this year, and February 29th, when the Duck Amuck Jam animation collab SHOULD upload, provided all the animators get their work done on time! I initially wanted to do an exercise-themed piece with a human since I am trying to take better care of myself, but it turned into a frog, and reminded me of February 29th!
Get the large image here as an attachment!
So another thing happened. After one animator dropped out, I forgot to find a replacement animator for this orphaned sequence and it's only a few weeks from the deadline! So I thought of the most creative option and decided to quickly mock up this sequence myself!
.... has anyone seen Evangelion?
#duckamuckjam animation due on February 28th!
This will probably be the most political I will EVER get in my animation! :P The #Pencilmation short I animated last year is finally up, and is very appropriate for the social climate we are in this year. The election episode is the first one in this 22-minute video, followed by older episodes done by other artists. It was great contributing to this series and I intend to return to animate another episode soon. The full list of credits is included in the video description on Youtube!
Here is a side-scroller game translation of 12 of my original characters, each representing one story/comic/series that I made since 1998. There is ONLY one character per story, which is why Norm the chipmunk isn't here, or any of the other college students from Untitled, the announcer, etc. Jerome is there despite debuting in Norm and Cory because he had his own spin-off comic. This is not implying that there will actually be a game produced with these designs- it is only idea exploration. I really love playing with the color to make each icon unique and deciding which colors to use and what to change or omit from their original designs. Now you see there's one character who I created just for this piece: the robot at the bottom right, who I plan to develop later.
You can download pngs of each of these icons here on this page!
For my next Patreon post, I wanted to create an original character designed for a side-scroller, so they'd be minimalistic and simplified to fit into a tiny square, as a way to get myself into one day animating an action sequence, since I have been sticking to mainly comedy and drama in my artworks so far. But this made me wonder how I can redesign my existing characters into that style too! Look out for the result in the next day or so!
A holiday pic with the witch cast. At this time they already met the wood spirit and they now see him regularly, but he comes and goes as he pleases, so they can't rely on him always arriving when they need him. He hates trees being cut down for Christmas, so he decides to help them by sprouting his own tree from his arm (though it's not clear in the image that it's attached to him instead of just him holding onto it) and racing back to the cabin before they get home. Meanwhile, her friend has clearly never tied a tree to a truck before.
I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!
I have been developing the witch story some more, and made some character designs. I don't see this as a grand adventure, but a more low-key slice of life where the conflicts will be mostly about regaining joys that one loses. This is not the entire cast, and anything could change. I also still don't have names of these guys, and am open to suggestions.
She comes from a line of witches in Massachusetts and grew up with her mother who is sadly no longer with her (her father travels), and she lives a normal human life by herself in her mother's old cabin alone with her cat familiar as the only other resident, though other spirits from the woods occasionally visit. She does drive downtown to run errands and revisit the university she went to, but doesn't socialize, leading others to grow suspicious of her. Witches have been a paranormal tall tale in that area right into the modern day since they haven't been in the public eyes for a century. The only friend she keeps in touch with is an old fellow alumnus, a regular human, who helps her with the heavy work. One winter she encounters a stoic, elfish forest spirit in the woods who becomes curious about human life and decides to live in the cabin too. He's none too keen on people cutting down trees or putting plants in pots, so she gets rid of most of the plants as courtesy. His magic makes the chores easy to do, which makes her friend a tad jealous.
I am still deciding if her friend should have a different hairdo.
Look forward to a second pic of these guys soon!
My version of the Sonic The Hedgehog movie poster, with Sonic's second design, only hand-drawn, and Robotnik with more cartoony proportions. Also I was pretty miffed that Ben Schwartz tweeted the poster that had the names of the two main on-screen actors and not his own name. Pretty ironic. :/ And as a fan of cartoons and having a degree in animation, that was more of a peeve for me that they thought a voice actor's name isn't deserving of appearing alongside the top of the poster.

I took an almost-year-long break from the Battles to catch up on some personal projects, and a few freelance jobs. But the holidays are a special time of the year, and my Santa character (who btw is not supposed to be THE Santa Claus you know from everywhere else) typically returns every few years or so, so I wanted to make my return with this month!
Each month, Stephen Brooks of Rubber Onion Animation holds an open challenge where animators get to do an animated short that has a particular theme. This month's theme is "Misleading Ending".
You too can also participate if you talk with him or go to his site for information, and at the beginning of each month you can vote for the next theme! It doesn't have to be anything elaborate, or even pretty looking. The point of it is to get animators back into regularly making stuff.
You should always hashtag your entry with #RubberOnionBattle ! He recommends that you also use you Instagram account. You can support me and my artwork on my Patreon by pledging to http://www.patreon.com/andrewkaiko , and if you don't wanna pledge, you can spread the link around!
... so. Guess who used Toon Boom Animation's holiday discount to get #harmony again after a year!? :D I'm not sure how long I'll keep it though.
Look forward to my return to @RubberOnion Battles #rubberonionbattlethis month! http://www.patreon.com/rubberonion
Another new character as I have been thinking more and more over the story in my mind. Mint is one of my favorite flavors so I had to include SOME character that represents it! FYI, Mint is not her name. In fact I haven't thought of names for anyone yet, but they each come from a whole race who are similar in design to them, so she can't very well be called Minty, or something obvious.
The story so far: the gingerbread boy here winds up crashing a Santa-themed marathon, and puts on a lame, make-shift outfit, and goes up against a very capable, awesome, experienced racer who has always been in the top places in the past marathons.
"... wait, how come YOU'RE not dressed as Santa?"
"That's beneath me."
You can get these two isolated images as downloaded files!

As a reminder, the remaining animators still need to have their sequences finished by February 28th! The slots are filled at the moment. It's a long time from now, but it'll close in on you quickly. #duckamuck #duckamuckjam
A few things. I know it's Thank You Patrons Day, and for the few I have, I am very grateful that you support me, either all the time, or just in a one-time payment! You keep my drive up to produce content when I have the time for it!
My birthday is tomorrow too! So I find it fitting that I'm uploading this now, especially after I made another post here about some scarier news with COPPA and all.
I said I would continue with my gingerbread boy holiday story, and I am. This takes place in a world either made entirely by edible stuff or with metaphorical food. This is near the beginning where he ran into a forest of lollipops and he happens to stick to one that's sort of an outcast among the others. Later on I imagine the boy wraps his head in a clear plastic wrapping paper so he doesn't get stuck anytime he touches his head. The guy can still breathe normally and can still speak under the wrapping, I guess because that's just how his body works!
What should these two be called?
IMPORTANT:
Starting Friday, I will be deleting Youtube videos from my channel that have absolutely any chance of being aimed at people over 13 years old. If you have any interest in my videos, please either request me to send them to you so you have them saved, or download them.
http://www.youtube.com/user/andrewkful
The new policies, active NOW, under the increased insistence from #COPPA is the first change in #Youtube's policies that has really prompted me to make an intentional change in my channel's content, and it's been a long time coming. Starting now, not in January, not in 2020, but NOW... anyone with a Youtube channel has to label all their videos as either for kids (under 13 years old), or not for kids, and you must apparently read Google/Youtube/the US governments' minds as to what that exactly means, because if you don't correctly label them, you will be fined at least $42,000 per video. In a sense they shifted the responsibility on what kids can see from themselves onto the surely-child-expert creators.
And because I an not 100% sure what among my 98 videos on my channel is considered kid-friendly in their eyes or not, I am now taking an overly careful stance and doing what is in my own control right now. Any video that has any curse word, threat of violence, act of violence, gore, adult humor, subtle adult humor, or any tense or scary elements will be taken down and saved onto my computer and backed up. It actually turned into a bit of Fall cleaning for me as I looked through my channel last night. A lot of the videos are short and barely contain anything, some were one-offs I made as a greeting to someone, some where templates used from Google's site that they no longer have up, and I already got rid of old videos or videos I no longer need on there.
A few Patreon requests there will be taken down and I will get in touch with each patron who requested them if they still need their files for prosperity. Most of the educational Tidbits with Norm and Cory episodes will remain there, aside from the Ignorance episode which gets personal rather than educational, and the one about the Dodos which contains comic punches at the face, and a harsh stinger regarding the extinct black rhino (BatteryPOP themselves changed the rating of that episode to older kids on their site). My Game Grump Animated "That's A Sea Bass" will be taken down. My GG Animated "Sandstorm" will remain up because that's not on my channel. The creditless OP to Animerica Season 3 will likely be taken down. My Rubber Onion Battles will mostly be tagged as being not for kids, and some will be taken down. Several voice acting practices I recorded myself will range from being for kids, not for kids, or taken down.
I have never 100% agreed with people that you can make a living off of only making Youtube videos and frankly never feel comfortable watching certain creators who keep e-begging. I will gladly work with creators in producing work for their own videos there as a paid job, but I was never into making my own content for my own channel fa da money, and that makes it easy to let go to a good chunk of my work being on that site. It is only one site, and I can certainly add them elsewhere, but it will be hard trying to make them popular. Like with how they handles these things, Youtube is being extremely vague about all this, which is putting everyone in a panic. Because Youtube Studios has a window at the top saying you need to start labeling your videos right now (I'm serious, go see it for yourself), that implies they could FINE you $42,000 per video now! So regardless of the vagueness, even if it turns out nothing will come of it, please act now. While you have a small window to take control of your work and your life savings!
I got news! There IS a deadline for #duckamuckjam and it is February 28th, the anniversary of #duckamuck! B/c this is a special deadline, it is imperative it is met this time. I thought people would be busy with the upcoming holidays/winter break anyway.
She still doesn't have a name, but I find it amusing that she's on good terms with odd company.
Happy Halloween!
Yes I had to.
Welcome back to my slew of art that isn't Pencilmation! That ep is almost done and I just need to do one more revision once the crew gets back to me. You can download this image as well as a full-size version, and an animated gif of the process of how I created this, on this page.
Behold. That which has totally silenced my Patreon since July!
I signed on as an animator. I am in the middle of one episode and I am in charge of the movement of the entire thing!! Now this could be a good client relationship but I am still deciding if I want to do another episode after this current one. One at a time. Look forward to it in a few months.
http://www.youtube.com/pencilmation
Pencilmation created by Ross Bollinger.
A new job offer has started up and this will continue indefinitely, or until I find that I can't work on it after a given time, or until something happens to the employer. As such, this will require weekly hours, which means there is a very good chance I may not even have time to put into my Patreon work. I will TRY, of course, but I do not want to exhaust myself. Life gets in the way as it is, and I am finding that I get headaches a lot more frequently.
I update this page rarely as it is, but if a new job comes along that I enjoy, this will happen. I will not have heart feelings if you decide to end your pledges. I hope after this I can do some of my own original art in the future.
Starting in some history of this cabin with a picture of a long past witch relative making sure her cabin is well cared for. Though maybe a second pair of hands would help.
What's this?? Another Patreon image just one day after the last one!? I been thinking over this for the next part of this modern witch series for several days.
You can download the full size version on this page!
Good news and bad news. The bad news is that I couldn't get to two more comic pages this month due to a July 4th trip, going to a convention on the weekend of the 13th-15th, meeting friends the weekend after that, and just lacking the creative energy. But I am happy that this image turned out prettier than expected, and now you have a rough idea of their color design! I wanna create at least 2 more delivery men to round out the core cast, so then illustrations like these will be livelier.
You can download the full size image on this page.
Title translates to "Callie's Delivery". Past comic pages can be read on my Patreon, and it is also available on Smackjeeves! http://www.smackjeeves.com/comicprofile.php?id=177313
Be careful when entering the sharing economy.
I really like how these designs came out! I almost forgot to add the keys with the keyring symbol.
The moment on page 20 was actually envisioned once I wrote the whole conflict of this comic, strongly and clearly. It just took several pages to get here. It was fun discovering all the different ways you can get rid of yokai and inserting some of them in Rukio's attacks.
Title translates to "Callie's Delivery". You still read from left to right.
Callie is also on Smackjeeves! http://www.smackjeeves.com/comicprofile.php?id=177313
Waking up on time for once is a great feeling. But now the dreams have ended and the sheep from your dreams have to disappear. They will return tonight. As is the typical life of a witch.
Another installment of the forest witch series I am doing! I have done three paintings of her so far, and you can see them all here!
You can also download the full-size version on this page too.
Deadline is May 15th for those who got in! Follow the twitter account there to see the progress on the entire anijam!
August 15th!
#duckamuckjam
I rewatched the cartoon and saw that when he's in a cowboy outfit, he's wearing tiny boots that would NOT fit his entire webbed foot! I realized I could do that too with the #elsa outfit! My animation continues when he storms off.
#duckamuckjam is full but look forward to the completed anijam! http://twitter.com/duckamuckjam
I knew I had to create these two new characters to expand the world a bit and ground the story enough for it to really pay off. Don't worry. This will go back around to the delivery team soon.
Title translates to "Callie's Delivery". You still read from left to right.
Callie is also on Smackjeeves! http://www.smackjeeves.com/comicprofile.php?id=177313
I found myself using the idiom "cold turkey" twice in one day. Then this idea came to me! :P I wish I could think of these ideas for characters as easily all the time.

This is the first @DtoonsProductions cartoon I animated in full, as well as sound mixed! Hope you all digs! And be sure to follow Dtoons' Patreon too.
It was tough getting the motivation up to complete these two pages. They don't include any main characters, meaning everything again had to be designed from the beginning and they're all anime characters, who take a longer time to draw than Callie.
Title translates to "Callie's Delivery". You still read from left to right.
Callie is also on Smackjeeves! http://www.smackjeeves.com/comicprofile.php?id=177313
This is my rough animation for my entry into the Duck Amuck jam I am hosting. It's going very well! All the slots are taken, and I am contemplating setting a deadline for it soon.
That is one big bunny. Maybe it's not an ordinary bunny? It looks like her cat isn't very inviting to newcomers intruding on its territory though.
This is another painting that features the same witch from my last one, since it went over better than most of my original characters on Patreon.
Download the full size image here!
This is another random piece that isn't tied to anything I done so far. I am taking a break from the Rubber Onion Battles, and I already did 2 Callie pages, so I decided to to a relaxing, contemplative landscape painting with a bit of fantasy. Who is this witch? Where is this house? You decide the story.
You can get the full-size version here as an attachment!
https://twitter.com/duckamuckjam
I started the first reanimate jam I am hosting, the Duck Amuck Reanimate Jam! Please DM the twitter account above to join or to get information! I will send you a download link with the source video (everyone must use this file), directions, and the timecode breakdown! There is no deadline as of now!
You may choose which sequence you like from the timecode sheet, and I will tell you if it's taken by someone or not. Because this cartoon is under copyright, I cannot upload the finished jam to Youtube, and will find other places to show it instead like Newgrounds. Special directions apply to the animator assigned to the main titles, closing titles, and the last sequence (the twist ending). These are outlined in the download link as well.
I know I haven't posted anything in all of March so far. Don't worry. Two new Callie pages will be posted very soon, but I should explain that I been partaking in two new projects this month which took up a lot of the time for Patreon posts.
Now that the episode of Frank and Sue is public, I can now make the announcement that I am a co-animator, and final sound mixer, on Dtoons Productions. This is different than when I would co-write for the old show Toons These Days that they used to make, or as a storyboarder on one episode of Fathead and Dirk, as those ended years ago. We are still discussing which shows and which episodes will take me onboard, but it feels like we'll play it by ear whenever something needs work. In addition to Frank and Sue Episode 1, I completed animation on another Dtoons short coming in a few weeks. Dtoons also has a Patreon account you can join. http://www.patreon.com/dtoons
They are also looking for animators to help too, so if you are a Adobe Animate CC animator looking for work, please Like their page and contact them on the FB page above!
Now the second thing is that I been participating in a reanimate collab hosted by Mika Denalia (on Twitter as @MrMeekBoy), who is still looking for animators to join him in reanimating the first episode of the Game Grumps playthrough of Super Mario Galaxy! That's what I been sharing here in the past weeks!! If you want to join, please follow their Twitter account @gamegrumpcollab
A third thing I will start soon will be shared here on Monday too. ;) Stay tuned ...
Who wants to see a series like this?? ... too bad, it's part of a reanimate jam! :D If you want to join, go to https://twitter.com/GameGrumpCollab and email @MrMeekboy ! As of now there is no deadline.
It's Sad Part Of The Story Time boys and girls! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKkiOPtvCC8 So yeah I decided that I would spend the third Patreon item of February on two more pages, since I wanna get this story pushin' along.
Title translates to "Callie's Delivery". You still read from left to right.
Callie is also on Smackjeeves! http://www.smackjeeves.com/comicprofile.php?id=177313
For those who are wondering, I did do research on what kind of visa Callie would use to stay in Japan, and also a bit on how the Japanese postal service works, but intentionally took some creative liberties with the systems for the sake of the story. I highly doubt this is how the details of the actual embassy works. Also this is NOT the actual Japan, but an anime version of it, with all the craziness that it entails, just like with the United States in the middle there, which offers some leeway. FYI, it's revealed she already was in Japan for a few months now and is expected to live there indeterminately, whereas in reality Americans almost never stay in Japan for more than 90 days, unless they have a Japanese family member as a full citizen, and other exceptions. So it is semi-educational.
Title translates to "Callie's Delivery". You still read from left to right.
I am taking part in an reanimated collab led by @mrmeekboy of the Part I episode of Game Grumps Super Mario Galaxy. I am excited for this, but he is pretty unknown and we're having trouble gathering enough animators for this 13.5-minute-long project.
If you would like to take part in this too, please let him know by using his email linked on the official twitter https://twitter.com/GameGrumpCollab ! He will send you a spreadsheet breakdown of the available slots to be filled. This project is for fun and unpaid, and there is no deadline as of now. And please spread the world about this around online :)
Another original idea for a character design. Superheroes themed on two color-related terms: hue and value. Both of them are on the good side but do not get along with each other, which is a problem considering they usually have to work in the same missions. Val looks more menacing and is inspired by black and white cinema anti-heroes or protagonists, specifically Dracula. Hue-Man's color can morph into all colors of the rainbow, and he can even control the colors at will.
This pack includes an animated gif of Hue-Man's colors transforming.
Well I suppose there's always a time for artists to branch out and draw new things. I am still trying to figure out how to make more pages more often. I did take up a job that could last into the rest of year but we'll see how that turns out.
Title translates in "Callie's Delivery". And don't worry, you still read from left to right.
This is something I should have posted about here in December. My computer's hard drive failed and thus the whole thing had to be replaced. While I am now on a new computer, this means I no longer have #ToonBoom. I can't redownload it because it's not compatible with this new operating system. I had initially thought you could only purchase ToonBoom on a monthly subscription only, but recently found out they still offer a perpetual license, which I will likely get once I have enough saved up. $73 per month is a lot, on top of having to pay that for as long as you ever use it. #toonboomharmony Toon Boom Animation
Now I DO have the latest version of Adobe Animate CC #adobeanimate and #CharacterBuilder, both of which I have yet to experiment with but am looking forward to using. I have strong experience with Flash, so it should come naturally at the least. It's not a perfect substitute for ToonBoom, but the Creative Cloud is still like paying for several abilities at the same time, so it's more convenient.
Expect #rubberonionbattles and other animated projects to be done in Animate for the time being.
Figment is chosen as the first piece created on my new computer, and my first drawing of 2019. This is my own take on him. He's described as having the mind and enthusiasm/emotions of a happy little boy, so why not MAKE him a little boy??
Each month, Stephen Brooks of Rubber Onion Animation holds an open challenge where animators get to do an animated short that has a particular theme. This month's theme is "Last Day On Earth". Though in this case Santa always seems to overwrite it. This is the first battle that was mainly animated in AfterEffects.

Still finding a good way to render backgrounds in this comic. I know I don't have to get too detailed, but it's a good idea to get a hang of the type of shading to use, and when and where to use it or not use it. We will see more of the main cast later!
Yes, Ryo is supposed to be a send-up of all the loud problem children you see in most shonen manga.
Title translates in "Callie's Delivery". And don't worry, you still read from left to right.
I always look forward to this time of year, with Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years, and all the busy-ness that comes with it. ...... and now I had two colds in a row since September. This has never happened before. The second cold arrived on my birthday, two weeks after the symptoms of the last cold finally went away! This Fall has been Hell from my productivity, and if it wasn't for that, I probably would've made a lot more pages of Callie by now.
But, I can feel this cold going away, and last night I wrote up an outline of how this chapter is going to go! Hopefully I can at least produce two more pages and my Rubber Onion Battle before Christmas vacation. So for those who feel like my output hasn't been worth the pledge, I'm very sorry. I been getting colds more often these past years, so I should probably see a doctor about it.
My aim is to do two pages this weekend! Here's hoping!
Each month, Stephen Brooks of Rubber Onion Animation holds an open challenge where animators get to do an animated short that has a particular theme. This month's theme is "Garbage Day". I decided to also put the Black Friday holiday in there to observe the time of the year we're in. This month the video was co-written by Alexa Fox.

Today is apparently #thankyoupatrons Day! Since it's one day before my birthday, it should be easy to remember. Thanks to the several who support my passion all this time, it really means a whole lot! You can always spread the word about my Patreon too!
A comic can't be complete without a cover, so I made one this month. You can find out what this comic is about on its first page. https://www.patreon.com/posts/callie-no-001-21748040 Basically it's a crossover of a Western cartoon character who moves to Japan where everything looks like manga/anime and works at a postal service.
Also this is a good time to announce that, in order to have a place you can conveniently toggle back and forth through the pages, I uploaded this cover and the pages to smackjeeves. http://callienohaitatsu.smackjeeves.com/
More pages to come!

November 2018's battle "Garbage Day" returns to more traditional animation methods. I am confident it will even be in black and white, so I can focus on the lines and movement! Excited for it!

Callie Rivers (female) is a sassy out-going and easily-adaptable delivery employee working in Japan, though she is from the United States of America! Animation tropes from both Western cartoons and anime will be included and deconstructed in this short story. Look in my Patreon to view the previous pages.

Who are THESE two party-goers? #rubberonionbattle October entry coming in a few weeks!
Callie Rivers (female) is a sassy out-going and easily-adaptable delivery employee working in Japan, though she is from the United States of America! Hopefully in this short story, animation tropes from both types of cartoons will occur and may be twisted in some way! ANOTHER CHALLENGING DAY STARTS!!!
This is the start of a new comic that will last for several pages. If it's popular and if I feel relaxed and pleased drawing it and it doesn't make me lay in bed pondering in an existential crisis wondering if I'm actually good like some previous comics (deep breath), ....... I'll continue it. It's based on an earlier piece I made as an original title inspired by the premise of Kappa Mikey.

It's based on a previous Patreon post I made, and will be one-shot! Can you guess which it is??

You heard it here first! Rubber Onion is coming out with a review of Teen Titans Go! To The Movies soon, and Emmett Goodman and I joined them! I drew this quickly for Stephen to add to the thumbnail. Look forward to it!
This is a continuation of the Orbis Park illustration I made last month, only I know the title will change. I just haven't thought of a good one yet, and that will come when I have a good enough "story" for the comic. Here is a line-up of the main cast, though even now this is not everyone! In the front is one last new character who will add some fantastical elements to it.
Two brothers move to a remote city where a late relative left them a peculiar amusement park, where they become the heirs and managers. The story will follow them as they adjust to their new life, meet new friends, and unearth a mystery.
You can download the line-up sketch, and the finished drawing, in separate files here!
Another piece coming soon to my Patreon! Stay tuned.
Each month, Stephen Brooks of Rubber Onion Animation holds an open challenge where animators get to do an animated short that has a particular theme. This month's theme is "Wrong Door". This month features the voice of Alexa Fox who voices the girl and the monster. Alexa Fox has produced comics under her own company Challenging Comics like "Danger Gliders", and also created, produced and directed the original animated pilot "My Life As A Monkey" which I led the animation on.

Some fan took my #GGAnimated of #Sandstorm and remixed the original Sandstorm track into it! It somehow makes it funnier than the original edit! :D
Also I am aware that that's a Google Home and not Alexa. Sorry.
It's been a while. How about a new Goldfish game I helped design?? You can get the #GoldfishPinballBlast game on your mobile device and see Finn and friends join you in pinball boards they built themselves out of toys and books and cardboard! I designed a lot of the items used for the boards. In fact, sometimes they use my actual artwork, such as the crayon scribbles on the cardboard, the word "crayon" on the crayon box, the tilty-bird head, and others. You can download it at https://www.goldfishfun.com/games/pinball-blast/ ! (that webpage also includes a blurred version of the painting I made of the overall design too)

She's has returned! Though as one of the many bit players in the grand storyline.
I should explain. I was looking through my old pieces of art and came across a concept for a comic about brothers who gain ownership of a very bizarre amusement park, and realized Lauren the pedicab driver, who starred in my short Orbis Park, would fit right in! So I just combined the two. Orbis Park was my first animated short out of school, so I always found some potential for what else could be in the park, and the name could change. If I keep developing this and create a more concrete story and cast of characters, it may motivate me to create this into a real comic where the main characters would slowly build their life in the park and discover the mysteries that lie within.
I notice a lot of my story idea take place in a forest. I do love them!

I am finally drawing again after a lull in inspiration. I'll give you a hint: this is inspired by the news. Final drawing coming soon!!
I am going to Connecticon this weekend as an attendee. I will be there Saturday and Sunday! Maybe I’ll bump into you!
I have no idea if Larry Schwarz getting the rights to Kappa Mikey and the rest of his shows back will ever result in anything new from any studio he eventually forms. But on the off-chance it doesn't (and so I don't have to keep drawing fan-art I'm not too comfortable spending time on), I recently though, "screw it! I'm gonna take the anime-and-Western-cartoon-characters-together idea and make something ORIGINAL with it, something that has nothing to do with KM's concept!"
In my pitch, the fish-out-of-water concept is kept, and it will mostly still take place in Japan with only one Western cartoon character in the principle cast, but this time, she's a female who can do really wacky, looney, screwy stuff, and gets employed at a corporate delivery service instead of a TV show! None of these designs are finalized, I haven't even thought of names for them yet. She may be redesigned into an animal, or alien, or a Whatever! The story will have a lot more satire on culture, anime/Western-cartoon tropes, and a commentary about dealing with changing technology.
You can download the large size of this image here!
What's this coming up?! Could it be new characters in a new idea for a story?? You'll just have to wait and see very soon, like in the next day or so! All will explained then!

This isn’t entirely a random piece. It could be a companion concept development piece to this image https://www.patreon.com/posts/wizard-boy-15001737 . He could even be a third character. I can see him being a kind of royal guard from the same world that the wizard came from who found out he ran away and acts as his guardian/officer until he can get him back home.
This motivates me to develop this story more. I also wanted to do a short piece of animation with the goal of making it look as much like an anime as possible.
Patrons will get this gif as well as a large mov file, and the raw AfterEffects file I animated this in, in this post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/horned-guy-19130867 !
Same assets are downloadable here on this patreon page. There is an AE file on the dropbox link above.
Welcome to my patrons’ exclusive post with all the paid assets including a large mov file, more animated gifs, and the raw AfterEffects document I animated it in! Please note that files may not open on all computers depending on your operating system’s specs!

Movie fans know that the popular image of the Wicked Witch of the West is so iconic, it's copyrighted by Warner Bros (that is, the very specific character portrayed by Margaret Hamilton in the 1939 movie by MGM). However, the very different Wicked Witch from Baum's Oz books, designed by William Wallace Denslow, is in the public domain. So here is the story's first antagonist as the books original intended, with only a tiny bit of artistic licenses added by myself. This witch still rules the West and still melts when water is poured onto her, but she rules over the town of the Winkies, where their country's color is yellow, not black. She isn't charismatic or gleefully evil, but very stubborn, nervous, and paranoid, but can still attack effortlessly when confronted. She lost one eye due to unexplained circumstances. Her remaining eye is actually magical- it can see clearly many, many miles away.

Yo peeps. That Goldfish Go-Karts game for iOS, Android and Google phone I did designs for?? They just rolled out a new update with a NEW LEVEL today! Race on top of an entire metropolis scape made of miniature household items under the bed like a Godzilla-esque figure, cardboard box buildings, toilet paper roll trees, a toy police car and more! I designed the look of all of these, so head on over and check it out!
While it may sound like a very clever and obvious joke for a crossover, I am nowhere near the first to think of this joke title: https://www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/2128002-lapin-iii-the-gentlerabbit-thief, nor am I the first to put Daffy in the role of Jigen ( https://lilminette.deviantart.com/art/Geronimo-698242458 ). Still, I couldn't resist doing this crossover as there are enough similarities with the characters to do it, AND both casts were animated by TMS as least once (TMS owns exclusive rights to the Lupin III franchise in terms of animated productions, and TMS also animated Tiny Toons, in which some Looney Tunes characters made cameos)! It was harder finding a good fit for Goemon, since there really isn't any Tune who fits him well enough.

Would you patrons pay to get exclusive animated gifs from my recent Game Grumps Animated video on this Patreon? I know how to make them.
Finally after nearly 2 months of it being completed and handed in, my Game Grumps Animated has finally posted live on their channel! Thanks again to the Grumps, and Vernon, for giving me the chance to get featured! :)
This post is not set as charged, because I was already paid for the video.

Those of my older followers will remember I created a poster of a hypothetical CGI animated movie based on Dr. Seuss's The Sneetches. I really wanted to develop the overall look and tone of it more, and these two pieces resulted in it! I imagine the additional story material to be inspired by John Hughes films and take place somewhere in the 1980's. The expanded cast will frequent an idealistically beautiful, worn out beach town with a boardwalk, that hosts a lot of social inequality derived from the stars on their bellies. The yet-unnamed main character will be a late teenager or early 20's guy without a star who signs up for Mr. McBean's star contraption in hopes of gaining respect.

And here's ANOTHER "new" idea. I keep hopping to new project to new project. It's part of my attempt to keep my inspiration up and consider as many ideas as possible in case I lose motivation in some of them.
My initial idea was to design my takes on characters from those later Oz books that are in the public domain, so I don't feel so guilty making fan art all the time. But I decided to start with Ozma instead to establish the mood of this series. :) I took in all the most evident descriptions of her from the original text, but I predict I may include my own original design choices when more of the later obscure characters get features in this series. Enjoy!

I'm the mood for designing a game.
In the Northeastern forests are small fairy folk that are derived from old myths formed in certain regions of Vermont and Connecticut with a pinch of Lovecraft, living in tiny villages with schools, residences, and stores. Their bodies are made of some solid form of wax, enabling them to morph parts of their bodies into weapons that they use as tools, or as weapons to combat against animals. Fairies co-exist with another species called dragons, which are domesticated humanoid beings that look more otherworldly than fairies, namely they have colorful skin and hair, are usually taller and muscular, and have tails sticking out of the back of their head instead of their waist. They used to be enemies since the dragons were destructive and their fire could kill the fairies, but now they take on a human form that proves safer, and the two sides joined together in peace. Most dragons often serve as government officials, soldiers, police officers, or guards. The game/story may focus on the first dragon to enroll as a student in the fairies' top school.
To clear clear, no game is being made! This is just my imagination and this image so far, but I intend to create a few illustrations and maybe some gameplay screen design later on. Also, this takes place in the same forests as Norm & Cory do, but they do not share the same universe. This is an unnamed character designed to be recognizable in tiny pixelated form. Nothing is official yet, I may change the colors of her, as well as anything else here.
I also plan to design another character who is a dragon. You can see him next to her in the bottom left. The monster-like creature is actually the same character.

Another idea I had to promote the pilot: take the classic slapstick gag to the extreme by having everyone in the show somehow all slip over a banana peel at the same time, and ALSO have them all somehow on the same place of a highway in the first place. Don't question it. And it became so epic in my head, I said heck I'm gonna make a whole poster of it!
See the animated pitch pilot I was lead animator on on YouTube right now! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kA2qZPtpRLc It's produced by Alexa Fox, features my friend Malcolm Benjamin as an animator, is directed by Mike McFarland, sound mixed by Chris George, and features a ton of popular Funimation actors! Follow us on FB, Youtube, and Twitter! The goal is to one day produce this as a series, so spread the word around.

The sneak-peak from before kind of made it obvious.
The video is in their hands. I do not know when they plan to upload it, so we'll have to wait a few days or weeks. I will of course share the link! :D
I suppose I owe you all some explanation about this gig. While I can't reveal what it is TOO much (though the sly and internet-savvy person can probably guess what it is by the image above), this requires all of my freetime that I usually spend on shorter projects. It is nearly done in fact! Look forward to the finished version in a few weeks!
I also included a few more finished images that do not spoil what it is! :D
There is a chance I will miss all or a few of my usual monthly art pieces this January and part of February, as I started a brand new freelance project! I don't see this lasting for a month and a half! I am very excited about this job and can't wait for you all to see it!
And here we have the same mash-up as the last posterhttps://www.patreon.com/posts/4157906 , this time with The Last Jedi. All the characters who played roles in the last poster reprise the same roles here. I could say I was saving Tweety when the Porgs actually got introduced in this movie, but it just coincidentally happened that way- I can't predict the future. I still have no idea who can play Yoda, Phasma, Rose, Snoke, or General Hux.
If you donate now, you can download the BIGGEST VERSION OF THIS IMAGE, so you can print it out into a poster or a small print! Consider pledging so I can make this work worthwhile, or otherwise spread the word about my Patreon! :D

So with it nearing the end of 2017, I knew I wanted to compile all the Rubber Onion Challenges I ever did into one video to make a kind of retrospective of what I've done. The TV static that bookends all the videos were deliberately for this. Of course these were called Battles when they started and I even made one in 2016, so even though this is for the 2017 New Year, I will include that first one I did here as well. And this was quite a busy year for me too, since I moved to a new home for the first time since 2006, and it's a wonder I was able to get even this amount of animation done on top of all that! I hope 2018 becomes just as productive.

Each month, Stephen Brooks of Rubber Onion Animation holds an open challenge where animators get to do an animated short that has a particular theme. December's theme was "Wrong Gift". I thought that when December rolled around, no matter what the voted theme was gonna be, I'd bring back the crazy runaway Santa I used two times previously in my entry! This time however I rebuilt him in Toonboom Harmony. I had the technology. I made him stronger, faster, crazier.

I been resharing the two previous Christmas animations this week for a reason: the runaway crazy Santa I keep using is back! And this time, I am rebuilding, rigging, and animating him totally in ToonBoom Harmony! Look forward to the next #RubberOnionChallenge featuring him that will double as this year's holiday animated greeting!
Remember I said I did designs for the Pepperidge Farms Goldfish Go-karts mobile game earlier? They just released a new update with a third level: Midnight, that I also designed. Included is a new robot toy design, decorative lamps, bed-cloth tents, star stickers on the ceiling etc! Check em out!

For those who haven't heard, and this was bound to happen sooner or later the more popular they became .... Patreon is changing their payment system where they will add a small percentage of fees patrons must pay per item... and the creators won't see that fee added. This sounds like a lose-lose for both sides, and also seems like a way for Patreon to benefit Paypal instead and establish itself as a more competitive player with the likes of other pay sites. Unfortunately, it sucks for people making multiple small pledges of $1, since they will be paying more. And also I am one of those creators who only have like 14 patrons in total who only pay $1 instead of one patron, with some of them being frauds!
My plan: I will see how this plays by ear. If it turns out I lose a LOT more money with the same # of patrons as I had before, I might consider starting goals again, or even migrate somewhere else eventually. In the meantime, please keep spreading the word about my Patreon to people who haven't heard of it! :) The more people who pay, the more it makes up for the lost fees.
I been struggling to find another original idea I could turn into a comic since my motivation to continue the Kappa Mikey comic has faded with Larry Schwarz gaining rights to the show again, and original characters are guaranteed not to get me in trouble with copyright ownership. Sadly, fan art is what is most popular, so it's a tough situation to deal with.
I DID think up a good idea when watching the MACY's Thanksgiving Day Parade and seeing all the giant floats, and thought about how the giant balloons would see us as tiny ants.
Somehow, the balloons turned into kaiju monsters, and thus I fleshed out the pitch: what if there was a comedy deconstruction of a monster movie attack from the perspective of the monsters, and how would they deal with the world they took over once they destroyed everything? They would fall into a routine and forget their roots. We have a Godzilla parody, a Gigantor robot look-alike, a wormhole, and a pet whale. The lizard is named Beth for now, I may change her name. Bethageddon is also just a working title.

This is the first Challenge I did that required two versions of the same animation, because I needed one for Instagram which reformats all videos into a square shape, and a widescreen one. The impact of the video comes from how the man must always place the turkey so it is OFF-SCREEN when the camera pans to the left and then back to the right, where it is mysteriously on another table! I couldn't do that in 2 formats unless i reanimated some of it for the second version.
Happy Thanksgiving!

This doesn't count as one of the 2 images I said I would create on here before the end of the month, btw. Still a Halloween pic coming!
So I'm going to try to scramble and make 2 still images for the end of this October before the month ends. This came about because there is news that after 8 years, the creator of Kappa Mikey, a show I used to animate on 11 years ago, got the rights to his shows back. As a result, I will no longer make my KM fan comic monetized to avoid any legal disputes if he decides to do something with his shows. I may still produce the remaining pages, but if I do, they will be totally free. But my motivation to continue the comic has dropped. So we have THIS image, in the comic's stead, and another Halloween image that I will try to make by Halloween. I haven't decided on what that will be yet.
This is a story concept I only just now thought up. I don't even have names for these characters yet. The idea is that a man trying to get his life together encounters a new friend who is revealed to be a displaced son of a wizard, and he uses his powers to help his life improve. Those are the man's belongings, not the wizard's, to be clear. ... I mean imagine how EASY life could be with that power! Moving would be a breeze! You can be the most organized you've ever been!

You should always hashtag your entry with #RubberOnionChallenge ! You too can also participate if you talk with him or go to his site for information, and at the beginning of each month you can vote for the next theme! I plan to make this comic as a personal project of mine, which will keep stuff from the show I liked but alter and add other things that I think would be a good improvement to the property (and there are a lot). I just like revisiting these characters once in a while. This is only looking like a short comic, around 6 pages uncolored, so it will barely have a story, but maybe once I get a handle on the new character designs and style, it may lead to a more complex, longer volume? Who knows.
Kappa Mikey is a 2006-2008 Nicktoon that was Nicktoons Network's first original cartoon. It is not sold or can be seen legally in any way, but there is a petition to get it released on home video. https://www.change.org/p/nickelodeon-release-kappa-mikey-digitally-or-on-dvd-blu-ray

Well I managed to finish this right before the end of September only to come here ready to upload it and discover that Patreon is already rolling out expenses from my patrons for this month!! What?? The month isn't over yet!! Sigh.

Initial post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/my-life-as-pitch-14469622
This is what I been up to since early 2016. I am lead animator/background co-artist/storyboarder for this upcoming pitch pilot. Malcolm Benjamin https://www.instagram.com/malbenthomas/ assisted me with the animation. It's created by Alexa Fox from LA, formerly from Texas through her company Challenging Comics. This pilot is owned by MarketCom LLC. It is voice-directed by Mike McFarland (FMA, Brotherhood, One Piece, Summer Wars), and stars Brina Palencia, Cherami Leigh, and Micah Solusod. Yes, it has a lot of Funimation people on it, but I should clarify that this creation is not related to the Funimation company.
Reese is a normal elementary schooler whose mom is a scientist, and his life is routine until one day she accidentally turns him into a monkey and she cannot find a way to change him back! ... so he just goes along with it. The show aims to chronicle his misadventures going through life trying to adjust with this new body of his, and the problems that can occur with it. The show is going to be about how weirdness is normal, the value of friendship, the struggles and tribulations of being a kid, and having others respect you for who you are.
There will be an interview about it with the creators at 8 PM EST on September 20th on the podcast Secrets of the Sire! https://www.facebook.com/secretsofthesire/posts/1428095207268801?pnref=story
I will forward you all to a link whenever this short can be viewed online!

That pitch pilot I told you guys about several times in the past since 2016? Yeah that finally has a deadline, and it's around the last half of September! Which means all my time spent on doing work on my Patreon page will be spent on this pilot until it's completed for a week or so! I intend to create another Rubber Onion Challenge entry, as well as more Kappa Mikey comic pages, after that's finished! :D
https://www.goldfishfun.com/go-karts.aspx
The game I been designing for the past several months came out on August 8th! It's Pepperidge Farm's Goldfish Go-Karts! In the current season of the animated commercials animated by Blur Studios in California, the fish discover a toy race track set and they have some fun! Over in New York, we had to developed the game along with Sarbakan in Canada. You can race against the computer's car and earn points, which you can use to get other karts, and pieces to build you OWN track and race that too!
I designed half of the go-karts, as well as the look of the gameplay themes, and the tracks. Sarbakan programmed the actual game.
I already have it. We produced several games prior to this one, but this is one of the most addicting yet, and definitely the most intense!
More worlds and karts will be unlocked in future updates.
You can get the game available on Android, iPhone, and Amazon!

And continuing on with my Looney Tunes mash-ups, I thought this was appropriate given Daffy's interest in playing the intrepid adventurer. I went with the obvious choice for Meow. There is no famous robot in the Looney Tunes cast so I went on Google and found this robot who appears in like 2 of the classic shorts, but is barely remembered by anyone! It think they were both directed by Friz Freleng.
These are fun to do but I am contemplating migrating away from these mash-ups, as I would like to bring new things to you all.

So this idea just popped into my head. :D I like that it's a great idea but also doesn't take me a whole lot of time to draw. I am considering doing mash-ups with other franchises since the Looney Tunes are literally as old as television and aren't as hot as they were.

I decided to upload my animated short on YouTube, since it's been on Vimeo for a few years because at the time I was submitting it to festivals and there was this stigma that uploading current festival submissions to YouTube wasn't allowed in some venues. Now that's all changed and entries are welcome to be added here! :D
In a city park, Lauren participates in a scavenger hunt where passengers must pair up with a pedicab driver to find items on a list, but an inconsiderate, over-weight passenger makes it a challenge for her.
Orbis Park (2011) is the first short I made out of art & design school, and since then I have practiced on my pacing, editing, sound mixing, and presentation a lot more, which can be seen in the succeeding short Norm & Cory (2013). The music and sfx are a bit loud to the extent that it's hard to hear some of the voices. However, I do think the animation and design here is even better than in that short! Hope you all enjoy!
This tied with winning the Excellence in Design Award in the Independent Category in the 2012 ASIFA East Awards.

I decided to upload all the past episodes into one long season video, for convenience. I should apologize for only uploading 1 payable item this past month: the last of the Woodpecker Power pages. But this May has been inundated with sudden incidents like an allergy cold, finally purchasing a new home, the Memorial Day vacation trip last weekend, and other work I had to tend to. But look forward to more revisions to the Woodpecker Power comic to go along with an audio recording! I will start casting auditions soon! Also the comic will be compiled into a PDF, with edits, on sale here! I am thinking of what my next big project will be!
Now onto other news. It's been a long time since I should have done this, and frankly there was no other option since the guy who designed/coded it for me appeared to just drop off the face of the earth. So I finally went ahead and did it before the next annual bill landed this past month...
I shut down my personal site.
It's been inactive for years and years. Pretty much the only people who go there are family members who heard of it through my parents. I been using Patreon and social media for all the same purposes anyway, that I never felt any need to update it anymore. I initially used it for prospective employees in my job hunting, but I been gainfully employed full-time with benefits for 7 years, and all the work that I do in 2017 that is related to the site is now either a hobby, or a freelance job I do on the weekends.
So this is one of my big changes to go along with my move to the new apartment. I am going to choose a quick customizeable web-host and service to make a new personal site! Something that I do not need a faceless stranger for to depend on to manage, who can just disappear without notice! Something that allows video embeds, and integrated social media posts! And I will TRY to keep it updated regularly along with my Patreon, FB, Twitter, etc! I'll keep you all up to date when the time comes!
Well that's it. It's done. After a year and just under 3 months, Woodpecker Power is officially completed! ...well, the comic anyway. I been meaning to produce an audio recording of this, but I might go through the script and edit anything I can improve on beforehand.
Download this both these pages here, and check back on my Patreon account for the entire comic of Woodpecker Power!
In the meantime, it's been getting harder to get to these last two pages because I have actually been trying to move to another home, and this past mid-May is when I official signed off on one! This has provided me with a lot of stress, and I currently have a cold from allergies, which hasn't been helping. After the move, I will be strapped for cash, so this may have ended at just the right time. I need to focus more on getting more freelance jobs!
Woodpecker Power, Norm & Cory, characters (C) 2003-2017 Andrew Kaiko
So I know Woodpecker Power is almost done with only 2 pages left, and I could've worked on them this weekend, but instead I started the opening sequence for the new freelance project I been working on for the past year, and I been on a roll with it! I really love animating to music and I'm sad I don't do it that often at all.
What is this project, you say? You'll just have to find out when it's done! :D

Against my already busy schedule, I wanted to break free of the daily grind so here’s my first ToonBoom test animation since my last one on November 2015. I got the inspiration to revisit the show I animated on and do my own take on the Mikey design. This is the type of animation I imagine a rebooted series to look like and move, and also how I imagine Mikey to look and move in a movie idea I had. The line is taken directly from the episode “The Lost Pilot”. Also, I saw Your Name a week ago, which is produced by Michael Sinterniklaas here (he also voices Taki), so I felt now was a good time to do this test.
As you can see, there are some nitpicks I learned I need to polish if I get to another test. The arms are animated with a curve bone deformation tool, and you can see some places where the outline is skewed and bent awkwardly in spots. Also, the shoulders move very stiffly. I will have to re-evaluate how to structure the shoulders in the timeline.
There is expected to be another Woodpecker Power page upload to my Patreon before the end of April. The story is almost done, but I just gotta get the motivation up to finish it. You can read that and look at a ton more of my work at http://www.patreon.com/andrewkaiko !

No it's NOT Halloween yet, I'm just continuing my slew of mash-ups. :D This one felt very obvious since both share the same creators/writers/directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, currently two of my favorite current comedy directors. In fact, it was so obvious, I been meaning to get to this piece for years. The assigned roles match so well with the Clone High cast, and I can imagine the same movie lines being recited by the cast with nearly no effort. The only role I had trouble pairing was Cleopatra, because there're very few female roles in the movie and Wonder Woman has under a minute of screentime.

I tried to slow the pace down here and just make minimal dialogue bubbles per panel. Developing this idea more, I envision the gingerbread character and the lollipop character encountering this other boy from an area made of Japanese sweets. He's a crown prince in a traditional Japanese setting, made chiefly of chocolate. He's a stoic, no-nonsense official who is caught in their journey and he clashes with the more energetic personalities of the two.
The idea is that all these different sweets live in the same world, but because they come from different societies, they appear like they belong in different stories. They have a range of styles that makes it very easy to tell them all apart. Beyond these places are even more cultures based on healthier foods.
Maybe the lollipop's one leg can also be a hand.
You can download these two separate images attached on this page.

One other character I always had when thinking of the gingerbread boy is a lollipop who he encounters in a forest far away from his home, and who joins him on a journey. My initial idea for him (left) was exciting and fun to draw but not all that original, so today I been sketching other possibilities. Maybe his head could be shaped like another type of lollipop shape, or maybe his face could be on the SIDE of the circle instead of the flat part! Maybe he could wear other clothes, or another type of personality.
I aim to produce a more finished piece of art before February ends, but I might not finish it in time. Stay tuned!

This is an enactment read directly from Jesse Barboza's own comic called 1990-Something, from the page about the 1996 movie Space Jam. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1353715814667330&set=a.916875808351335.1073741830.100000867737259&type=3&theater Yes, that is me as Bugs (and Porky). I didn't recite lines from other characters who appear in the strip- only the Looney Tunes characters. This is a voice I been doing forever but never actually got to record. I really love how Jesse is so familiar with Bugs' nuances in the way he talks, and he really gets the kind of Warner Bros. humor, before they relied on building block toys.
And check out the rest of 1990-Something! http://1990somethingcomic.com/

Again, research helps a lot when writing a comic like this. Earlier I mention that this device that the starlings have been using for an entrance to their home is actually an old bird expeller for humans, meant to send out a loud signal that only invasive bird pests can hear! So I thought, "Hell, use that as the climax."

One of the great things about comics are their limitations. How do you depict the feeling of being deaf in a medium that has no audio to begin with, without any text?! Because starlings are not affected by their own chirps, it's a perfect defense mechanism against any other bird. Birds without hearing often find it hard to balance themselves in flight because you need the liquid circulating inside your ears the right way to help balance your body! How will they get out of this!?

So yeah it's not doubt that this is the busy part of the year for me. I am back in the art groove but it looks like I still won't be able to get 4 pages out this month. So I'm uploading 1 page now to be safe, and get to 2 more pages by New Year's Eve. This raw, wacky linework is a perfect outlet for the stress I been having.

This too is based off of fact. In real life, starlings are known as one of the most organized species of birds to function in large flocks, often hundreds at a time, and they all know how to make cloud shapes with their formations. They instinctively know where the rest of them will fly and are perfectly syncronized. This on top of their loud noises and invasion of space are the main things that make them pests to humans. So I been saving this for the climax! But I have a few more surprises waiting!
It looks like I'll only be able to create 2 pages this November instead of 4. I been swamped with looking for a new home, everything going on in politics, and this freelance job. Art takes patience.

I been seeing a bit of a downgrade of activity on my posts that feature my work as a Patreon advertising card instead of the actual work. You know, the image that only shows a tiny portion of the image and says "Click to download" with the Patreon logo on it? Those essentially get NO COMMENTS to them whatsoever! So I been wondering..... do you guys hate that option? Would you like to see the actual images on my Patreon pages instead so you can actually read the comics online before downloading them? More instant service? The reason I been doing that lately was so you'd have more of an incentive to download the images to your desktop, but if barely anyone is paying attention to them, it's actually a worse option.
Your choice. I'd just really like to know.

I notice that a number of my illustrations here are inspired by current events. I heard about a ton of dangerous cult members dressed as clowns roaming around at night, who have made people more afraid of any type of clown, and the timing before Halloween couldn't have been worse. Just today I read an article about McDonald's refraining from using Ronald McDonald and that he's "laying low" until this trend wears off. Images raced to my head.

I am really glad LAIKA movies exist. They're still family friendly and have a lot of bright and colorful moments, but they all have sad and very dark undertones, much like the family adventure films of the 80's. So having just seen Kubo And The Two Strings, I got inspired to create a card for each of their movies so far. AND they aim to really amp up their production with one film a year starting in 2018, and go beyond just stories starring child protagonists!

Sometimes it's frustrating when you're working on something that takes months and months to complete and it has to be officially announced soyou can't tell people what you're busy on. They just get the impression you're not working on ANYTHING, when in fact, you are using your time well. I stated this before, but I am in the middle of a secret, long-term, exciting project I hope will be finished sometime next year! :D It's not the ONLY thing I am doing, but this takes up a lot of my time outside of my Patreon art, and my full-time job at a company. I wish things were opened up more so I don't feel so frazzled, but money is what money is. Look forward to it!
Two more pages of Woodpecker Power WILL be live this month, at least!
For the record, no, I am not playing Pokemon Go. In fact, I never really was into Pokemon when it started. But I understand the good the mobile game can do to people of all ages and why it's so popular. Plus, my job requires I be in front of the computer at all hours, and I can't just go online without seeing any kind of Pokemon Go article! I heard about the Vaporeon invading Central Park, sparking an entire stampede of people migrating into it at night. I frequent Central Park a lot too, so I thought this was a fitting subject to draw.

Once I realized the boat would be made of wood, everything in this scene and the scene on the following page came together! The goal of this part was to push two of the protagonists toward what's really going on in this starling home, and also to give more of a spotlight to Heigel, who until this point didn't have a ton of characterization aside from "big, tough lady". Also, Pirate Duck is growing into one of my favorite characters. I subconsciously gave him the color scheme of one of my earliest characters from childhood.

Hey there peeps! Hope you are having a great July 4th holiday weekend so far!
This July is looking extremely busy for me, around the same Busyness level as the Christmas season. Every single weekend, I have some major event to go to or have to go out of state on a trip. I'm not sure how much Woodpecker Power I will be able to get to, but we'll see.
I am in the process of organizing a cast for an audio reading on Woodpecker Power, complete with sound effects, and even MUSIC if I get a good score going!! I plan to get a lot of online actors whom I have loved in the past year on the show from YouTube or even Nostalgia Critic if possible, and of course I’ll even voice a few characters on my end. The audio reading is projected to be released concurrently with the end of the comic!
Keep spreading the word about my Patreon, and have a good day!
So as you can see, things are still building up to a pay-off! The woodpecker gang may be enjoying the 5-star starling es-STAR-lishment at the moment, but the story will pick up soon.
You can also download a psd of the Pirate Duck tour guide on this page as well as the 2 pages. I had a ton of fun designing and drawing him, and I might even VOICE him when it comes time to make the audio reading.

The starlings put Jerome's gang in a wooden bird house attached to the heater. Because this is an abandoned building, the heater is only partially working, and the 10% of it just so happens to be around the back of the bird house, where they can install their spa. Jerome got the ice cold water from elsewhere.

I contemplated using a broken-screened mobile phone to signal the finish line. Then I remembered this takes place in an abandoned, wrecked-up apartment building, and the phone wouldn't even be able to turn on, let alone just have its screen cracked! So I opted for a part of a yellow caution barracade chopped off.

This is the first (I think) of strips I'm making based off of Dtoons Productions' character Conroy Cat, a cartoon character living in a world of cartoons trying to get by to become famous one day! I was a writer on the spin-off series Toons These Days, as well as a story-boarder for the short-lived Fathead and Dirk, also under Dtoons. You can read more of his stuff at his own Patreon
and watch animations on his YouTube channel
https://www.youtube.com/user/AADudley
!
This was inspired by an image I saw online one day and shared on my Facebook.
I do want to do more of these strips, but they will be VERY infrequent in the midst of all the other stuff I need to do. So don't hold your breath.
Check out more work I do on my own Patreon too, and consider being a patron so I can get motivated to make more stuff like this! :D
In real life, starlings are indeed known for being incredibly LOUD, and some of them CAN indeed mimic the sound of other animals and people. Their noise is one of the many reasons why they're considered pests in the eyes of humans.
This kind of freeform drawing that isn't dependent on dialogue is one of the reasons why I wanted to keep drawing these characters. I really like action dictating a story as opposed to dialogue, and yes there is a lot of dialogue in this comic, but dialogue still adds a lot to the characters, and I intend to include more action scenes like these near the end of the story.

Hey there peeps!
As you know, or have recently come to the realization on, Woodpecker Power is more or less the only thing I am working on for Patreon at the moment. This is a full story that should last around 30 to 36 pages, so feel comfortable that you’ll get a ton of consistent work you can enjoy. I may be able to squeeze in a one-shot illustration/drawing as an additional payable item, but at the moment it looks like we’ll be on a routine basis for the next few months. If you like where the story is going, consider pledging, and recommending it to others!
I am considering making pages that are ONLY for patrons who pledge. More on that coming up.
I am even in the process of organizing a cast for an audio reading on Woodpecker Power, complete with sound effects, and even MUSIC if I get a good score going!! Do you have thoughts on this? Do you have any suggestions for how this could be made? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below! :)
If you really look at Kuelikou's lines, he sometimes quotes Shakespeare. So far they're mostly short lines hidden in the dialogue in some form, but hopefully I'll find a few good quotes for him to recite in their original form. :)
Birds can walk on a sideways wall, and some species can even walk upside down. They can carry on like it's nothing without the gravity being a problem, because they are cartoon birds! This is a new idea I wish I had thought of in the Norm & Cory webcomic years ago, as it provides a ton more dynamic than just talking heads, and it invites a lot of creative ideas for their homes and accessories given how gravity is an issue.

That's right! The opposing force in this story are starlings!! Don't know what starlings are? Well they aren't used very often in fiction and entertainment, which opened an opportunity for me to use them instead in all their glory/atrocities! And I cannot imagine why no one else is using them! In my research these creatures are incredibly interesting!! You'll find out more near the end of the comic. ... of course they don't look quite like this, but this is a cartoon and I can do what I want to serve the story.

It being New York City, I knew there had to be a least ONE pigeon character in the mix but they're used so much in fiction, I didn't wanna overdo it. Another thing I wanted to do was give him a somewhat fresh design for a pigeon cartoon character, in this case a weird head.

The second and third pages. I am going to try and upload a group of pages for each post here, since it doesn't interrupt the pace of the story as much. Right now we're in exposition territory as I try and introduce all the main characters but I expect things to pick up soon.
And for anyone wondering, Spry is a woman.

I been working on page 2 of the "Woodpecker Power" comic and I been wondering about the upload schedule I could have. These pages take about a few hours each to complete, so I imagine doing several a month. But I don't want to make EACH page payable because then I'd have several payable items here a month which would most likely go way about your cap limits for pledges. So how should these be rolled out? I can upload a batch of them each month so you can all read a few in one go. Or I can upload them in sets of 2 pages or 3 pages each. What do you think? Feel free to answer below! :D

The first page. As opposed to the forest setting of Norm & Cory, this takes places in the gritty city, and I took on a somewhat looser, sketchier look like freeflowing textures, and opaque white highlights.
Still not sure how often I'll post with a new page here, nor how long this story will be, but that's part of the fun. I might even release extra pages in-between the more important ones that only patrons will be able to see!

Yep, after weeks of thinking and developing of the concepts I listed for the next new consistent Patreon series that will replace TidBits, I finally settled on the Jerome Woodpecker prequel spin-off to Norm & Cory: "Woodpecker Power"! It will be a comic issue. This will take place a few years prior to Jerome meeting Norm & Cory, and will bring back a few characters from the original comic, as well as introducing new ones! As opposed to the shorts and comics which were calm in tone and semi-educational, THIS story will be completely unhinged, a bit more wild and violent, action-oriented, and pure entertainment! But that's what happens when Jerome is suddenly the star.
Yes, a lot of wholly original concepts were on that list that weren't some spin-off of a pre-existing story, but hey I feel the safest sticking with something people are familiar with. These designs are more focused on shape and color contrasts- there will be outlines and all that traditional stuff in the actual pages!
I plan to make a full illustration with these guys soon!

Each month, Stephen Brooks of Rubber Onion Animation @rubberonion holds a "battle" where animators get to do a short 15 seconds long maximum that has a particular theme. February's theme is "useless superpower"! You too can also participate if you talk with him or go to his site for information! It doesn't have to be anything elaborate, or even pretty looking. Hell I didn't even think I would be doing this until like 3 days ago! The point of it is to get animators back into regularly making stuff.
He recommends that you also use you Instagram account, which, BTW, I just started yesterday. Oh yeah did I mention I'm on Instagram now? You should also hashtag #rubberonionbattle there!

And here's the final version of the vegetarian bear idea I might or might not develop further. It takes place in a fantasy world made entirely of food, where different districts and countries and towns represent different kinds of food, and they create alliances or collaborations in order to make meals. The world actually contains human beings, or a mix of human/food hybrids, I haven't decided yet, along with animals.
Spread the word about my Patreon and consider donating! :D
And here's a peek at my first concept piece for an original comic series- a vegetarian bear. Though it may seem like a one-note idea, I can already see tons of possibilities if I construct the world around her. Yes, this is a female character. Thought I'd also do something a bit unconventional.
This piece will be finished in several days or so! :) Remember to spread the word around about my Patreon!

So yeah I migrated away from the Nostalgia Critic for fanimations recently and over to Game Grumps, and this is my first attempt. I could've gone with a shorter video given how most of these Game Grumps Animated videos are about a minute long each, but otherwise you wouldn't get the full build-up of this conversation. This is also animated in ToonBoom Harmony, which made it very economical for getting detailed performances in simplistic character designs. I could've used Harmony's built-in auto-lip-syncing, but it didn't match up with some of the sounds so I just eyed it myself. Not sure when I'll have another opportunity to animate Game Grumps again, but I have several ideas from their letsplays that I really wanna do! I will need to really think about whether or not it's worth my time- this video alone took 4 months to finish!
More sneak-peeks at the Game Grumps Animated project!! I finished this shot and then I have one more shot to do before this is totally finished! I envisioned the characters (in the game they're playing at least) to have a look and be constructed in a way that they could be simple enough in ToonBoom Harmony to animate quickly while still being easy to perform using the software's features.
Catch the video sometime in February on my YouTube channel "andrewkful" and here!

And here we have the same mash-up as the last posterhttps://www.patreon.com/posts/4157906 , this time with The Force Awakens. All the characters who played roles in the last poster reprise the same roles here. I took more deviations here than in the last one when referencing the original poster. For one, none of the spaceships are here, I couldn't find a good enough Tune to play Captain Plasma who would be recognizable even inside the helmet so I left her out, and the Starkiller base is replaced with a forlorn Daffy/Luke in the back. I do not have plans to make these for the other 5 films.

The Inside Out/Looney Tunes mash-up became such an unbelievable viral hit in this place, I decided to continue the Tunes in other Disney parodies!! At first I wanted to start with Episode 7 since that's the newest movie still in theaters, but then I realized it would make more sense to start with the first movie ever released in order to make sense for why some characters will play certain roles. Don't fret! The Force Awakens will be given the same treatment down the line right here!

This past New Years break into tonight has been brain-storming time! TidBits is over, so I need to think of what new on-going series will replace it. This time I'm thinking a comic will suffice. I'm still going to make animations, but they will be one-shots like requests, shorts, music videos, etc. And to keep track of all these ideas, I wrote them below in a list. Patrons, friends, and fans, you can tell me which ones you are most excited to see made, and any detail in these can be changed if I think it will improve the idea! :) Let's enter 2016 with a wealth of inspiration.
Comics
- Dada/surrealist comic. Guy who works in a library gets the late teenage child of a high-ranking elf king from a faraway land as a roommate. He winds up using his magic to pull out items from the library archives and brings them to life, to better his roommates' life, while also making it ridiculously silly and exciting.
- Development of the world of Orbis Park introduced in my 2011 animated short as well return to this odd recreational world and meet new characters. Two brothers compete over ownership of Orbis Park, one who already runs it, and his younger brother who has to prove himself by starting in the mascot costume and climb the ranks. Lauren the pedicab driver makes a small appearance.
- Norm & Cory. Cory comes across death for the first time while witnessing another animal become animal chow, and is shocked to learn that animals don't care if any of their own dies. The comic follows Cory as he deals with it.
- Jerome the woodpecker spin-off. Jerome and posse must settle the conflict between two bird species as they fight for territory on the top of city buildings.
- In a cartoon world that lampshades and deconstructs Western animated concepts in the 1940's, a girl has a great idea to invent a new midair, floating highway system where people can drive in the sky, in an attempt to make travel more relaxing and convenient, and better society. Problems occur when she has to face charges from a car accident caused by her invention. 1920's rubber hose cartoon characters also appear.
- An office comedy. A talk-show host talks with various paranormal figures.
- A second chance at Jack Magic, about the rabbit of a magician trying to get work in a society that doesn't appreciate them.

For fun, I animated my idea of what a Norm & Cory movie would be
like if it had been under Disney. I used the 1980's version of their
opening logo as inspiration and reference, and tried to make it more
mysterious and hand-made/low-key. There's abstract splashes overlayed
onto the castle to emphasize how it's made in hand-drawings. Forest
sounds can be heard underneath to set you in the mood.
As a reminder, this is purely for fun. No official movie is happening.

Yep. For the past months, I have been attempting my first ever Game Grumps Animated! Like the Nostalgia Critic fanimations, these are audio taken from the video letsplays of the YouTube duo Game Grumps, and animating to them! There are already a TON of these online, and they are all hilarious, and I have actually been listening to them for about two years now, so I picked a sequence I have never seen animated to before! NOTE: the content in the videos frequently tread into adult territory- caution is advised.
Look forward to my first one this Winter 2016. It's around 2 minutes and 40 seconds, but if I do another after this, it most likely won't be as long.
The Grumps are Arin "Egoraptor" Hanson, and Daniel "Danny Sexbang" Avidan. (C) Game Grumps, Polaris

Oh yes. http://channelawesome.com/nostalgia-critic-fking-love-christmas-music-video/ This musical number became one of my favorite musical moments in the Nostalgia Critic, and it's only a year old! His love of Christmas is just so infectious, but also shows the dangers of loving it too much, and keeping all that love inside.
To my parents, this piece requires some swearing because the song has those, I'm only being faithful to it.
By the way, this song's available on i-TOOOONS! :D https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/i-f***ing-love-christmas-ft./id947325686?i=947325690

Norm and Cory want to wish you the best holiday season by sharing a bit of their own with you: a loop of their yule log Cory haphazardly built and Norm lit! The zip file contains 3 gifs, sizes 1080, 800, and 500 pixels high.
Hope you all have a happy holiday!
Continuing on my Krampus creation journey, I have set my first tie-down line work and 4 color design possibilities. I'm not sure if I'll have time this month to create an actual illustration with this character where i put him in a situation, as I do want to get on with another holiday illustration before the 25th. You can see development sketches in the background. Which ones do you like?
I also added a quick drawing of Santa on the top corner, to show how big he is compared to a human. Is face is easily 2 and a half times taller than mine, and yet his slouched posture makes him almost as tall as Santa, not counting the horns or basket.

Yes it seems I get out a Christmas animation out every 2 or 3 years. I really don't have time to do one every year. This was animated in ToonBoom Harmony. I hope you all have a joyous holiday, a Merry Christmas, and a great end of the year!

Here's a look into my creative thought process from my lethally crazy
mind, if you dare. I'm trying to find that breakthrough idea that
REALLY gets me motivated to draw more of my take on Krampus, but so far
I'm getting the usual hairy Eastern European demon monster thing.
Usually, what really inspires me is a visual design I never seen used
before, a story element, or some incorporation from another place.

After going through my 12 previous episodes and asking for factual mistakes I made from all my fans (which no one provided! >: ), I picked 5 that I deemed the most glaring, and compiled them into this list.
And yes, if the ending feels like a conclusion, that's because this is the last episode planned to be made. I hope you all enjoyed it! You can view all the episodes of the entire season on my Patreon, my YouTube channel, and on Batterypop.com. One reason why I am ending this series is because it has been nowhere near as successful as I had hoped (no episode even got 10,000 views), and I wanna go on to make other things. I have no decided what will replace this series, but I DO want to start another constant series of some kind so my patrons all have a reason to keep coming back! :D Any suggestions are welcome.

I felt like doing another Mario drawing (or rather, Nintendo) and I thought of this scenerio. I am basing Link's home from Link To The Past, even though it would be more logical to base this version of Link and Hyrule from Smash Bros. since they're all about crossovers there.
Look forward to the last episode of TidBits on my birthday, November 20th! :D And be sure to either pledge, or spread the word, to my Patreon!

With the announcement that TidBits is ending, I need to think of the next big-scale, constant series of some kind, so my patrons can still have something to expect when they keep coming back! I am thinking a comic series as the replacement monthly show, along with the occasional animation, 2 of which are already in production now!
As always, spread the word about my Patreon so I can make these projects worthwhile! :D And thank you for all your support! Look forward to more great stuff!

The episodes of Animerica are all very, very long, because they need to comb through a whole anime to review it while also telling an original story. So instead of telling people the timecode for when this animation starts in every episode, I'm just gonna upload the creditless review here on my own channel!
I got this job as a referral form the director, who got it from Channel Awesome executive Mike Michaud, after I animated Pinky and the Brain for the Nostalgia Critic to get my name out there more! One job usually leads to another.
This opening is supposed to evoke cliches of anime openings, while also having its own flavor. It has so far become one of my longest and most fulfilling freelance animation jobs in the past several years, and I am proud of how it turned out!
You will not be able to understand what is happening unless you watch the first two seasons.

This has by far been one of my biggest freelance projects in recent years and it's been a long wait to finally see it online. Out of the blue, I got inspired to do this! I may have been inspired by the dealer’s room at New York Comic Con. I was also going to do an entire mini-comic with these characters instead, until I realized it’s almost 3 weeks til Halloween and I do not have the time to develop a story, let alone draw everything, so I settled on a deck of art cards of the cast done in the style of Genndy’s 2D-animated short “Good Night Mister Big-Foot”, or even the end-credits of the first movie!
These will be a set that will be released on my Patreon on the last week of October, to give you days in preparation for the holiday. I will release small versions of a few of the cards for free beforehand, but only patrons who pledge to me on my Patreon account, http://www.patreon.com/andrewkaiko, will get the complete set, full-size 300 DPI, with bonus cards! Yes, these will be sold, not given out, so save up, and consider pledging! :D

Those of you who have been following me here and Facebook know that I am working on a new animation that is in no relation to anything I done before! Well, today is the day that ONLY PATRONS will discover FIRST what that video is! Attached below is a 12-second-long clip of the animation I will post in the next few months: .......
a moment in an episode of Game Grumps where they play Dog Island. If you never listened to Game Grumps, they play video games but also entertain viewers by their hilarious and expressive conversations (NSFW for some cursing and crude humor).
Download the mov. file below to see the animation! I must reiterate: ONLY PATRONS will be in on this secret this soon, and will only be able to see this movie! So spread the word of my Patreon here so people can get secret goodies if they pledge! :D
More sneak-peeks. Another hint: This is something brand new, tied to nothing I have ever done before in any relation! ;)
Also, TidBits 13 is gonna be a bit later than October 15th, due to the script being examined and revised by a second party. Progress goes steadily!

After the rant I made earlier about how only fan art can get popular online instead of original content as a reply to Malcolm Thomas' post, I am now trying to brainstorm different ways to avoid this while still making good use of popular trends. One solution: using public domain characters. And mixing them in with contemporary commentary, a bit. I was always drawn to The Yellow Kid and so I decided to put him in modern times, and have him comment on journalism not ONLY being in newspapers!
Support my artwork on my Patreon to make it worthwhile! AND I am also thinking of more milestones and rewards, so suggestions for those would help too! :D http://www.patreon.com/andrewkaiko

The more I thought of this crossover idea, the more enthusiastic I became in making it! No I don't know who they're controlling. Probably Daffy, or Elmer Fudd, or even a cartoonist.
For those who want to know, those are Lola and Tina as they appeared in The Looney Tunes Show, only here drawn in the "classic" Looney Tune style and recolored and outfitted for the roles in Inside Out. They are NOT gender-bent Bugs and Daffy! Also, Fear for the longest time was going to be Daffy until I remembered that Sylvester can be more in-character here instead at the last minute. Daffy was also gonna be a gender-bent Disgust until I realized there's now a female Daffy of sorts with a personality that fits Disgust better.
I HATE that control panel! Just for how detailed it is. I could have done some shortcuts and loosely presented them in my own arrangement, but I realized it's best to be faithful to the movie and make it a copy, more or less.

A new Norm & Cory mini-comic, the first time they've been seen in comic form in 6 years, will be uploading very soon on my Patreon! This will take the place of a TidBits episode for the next month as this past April and March have been unexpectedly busy. Each page WILL be individually charged, but don't worry about too many pledges- I plan to finish the first page before end of April, and the last 2 pages both for the month of May! I got a great idea going for this comic, so stay tuned and think about donating a pledge! Any little bit helps! :D
Here is the full animatic for the first TidBits episode. The title card and end credits are not included, as they are prepared later.
Look forward to the animatics for the other first 2 TidBits episodes soon!
In a week, this will be posted publicly, but only my supportive and generous patrons will get to see this now!

Here is my second animation request made by Mark D. Omohundro, of his characters Kyle and Missy! Missy is too scoffed to realize she's got a fox trap on her tush. :)
Anyone who pledges at least $10 to me on Patreon will get a 5-second animation request or a 5-second-long cycle. Ironically, right when I finished this animation, I noticed Mark had ended his support for this account, plus his pledge used to take up a whole third of my total pledges! :D Oh well, he asked for this animation, and I enjoyed doing it! Thank you Mark! This is also my further exercises to work in ToonBoom Harmony.
Just wanted to tell you all that the Norm & Cory animatic activity post is now PUBLIC! :D Here is the link: https://www.patreon.com/creation?hid=2217513 It is a download, and you must have Quicktime to view the file.
Here is the full animatic for the 2013 short, Norm & Cory! You can see the full short on Vimeo here: https://vimeo.com/79856701 . You can see there are a few retimes for some shots, and a few ideas were replaced by others, such as Cory pinballing on the tree trunks instead of the tumble I have him do in the final cut.
Look forward to the animatics for the first 3 TidBits episodes soon!

Bees may be annoying and some can sting you, but they're more important to maintaining the balance of nature than you realize! Norm explains, Cory reacts!
Tidbits with Norm & Cory is an edutainment series featuring the 2 furry critters from the 2013 animated short, Norm & Cory! Aimed at middle-school students in science class, or just any curious child thirsty for knowledge, Norm guides them through an intro course comprised of 1-minute episodes with his pupil Cory! The Patreon campaign won't just be for Tidbits either. From time to time I'll also add still drawings, comic pages, and other videos.
A new episode will be added at least once a month on the children's video site, BatteryPOP! Uploads on YouTube for the same episode will follow!

This is a crossover that was stewing in my head for months now and I'm glad I finally got around to making it! You can just imagine the scenerios of an Animaniacs episode if it parodied Despicable Me!
Spread my Patreon around and help make my hobby into a worthwhile activity! :) Coming up soon are another TidBits episode, the animatics of the Norm & Cory short and 3 TidBits episodes, and some animation requests! http://www.patreon.com/andrewkaiko

I did a second official Nostalgia Critic animation: the animated logo spoofing the 1987's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV series for the crossover review of Michael Bay's TMNT, with the Angry Video Game Nerd! Look forward to it on March 31st on www.channelawesome.com !

Episode 8 for May. :) The evening after con weekend, I go back to the Real World to do the usual stuff, including drawing!
Thank you Malcolm Thomas for being my newest patron! Since I got 2 patrons backing $10 both in the past month and the promise of uploading animatics, those will serve in place of the monthly still drawing I add to Patreon in May 2015 too.
I think I dreamed this image in some form, and for some reason my mind kept wandering back to it, so I decided to make it into an image. It's a boy's room in some fantasy setting, with a library above, with a mural on the wall. There are two rotating shelves on the sides of the door that he can control and get the right book. I may add more stuff to this once I get inspired!
The fantastical rabbit from Tidbits Episode 6: Moon Phases is a new character that had to be designed and animated from the ground up in an incredibly short amount of time available, so he was rigged, built, and animated using ToonBoom Harmony's own network-nested portals, and bone tool, which served that incredibly well! I do use them for the other characters a bit, but the rabbit was built using them even more! You can find out more about ToonBoom's products and services at their website: www. toonboom. com
Some news. There will be a new still illustration coming up from me before March ends that is NOT fan art, it is completely original.
There is a chance I MAY not be able to finish the latest episode (Episode 8, for May) by April 15th, because it is particularly long, and I have to go to a con one weekend. But Episode 7 is done and will upload around that date. If worse comes to worse, I'll do a short brand new Norm & Cory comic page or a few pages! :D
Lastly, I will get to Mark's request when he has directions ready, and to the animatics whenever I can. I am very busy these days but continuing to do work I love makes it all worthwhile! :D
Thanks to Mark Omohundro, I have reached my milestone goal of $25 per piece, and will upload the animatics of the 1st 3 TidBits episodes and the animated short here! And he also has the option to request a 5-second animation of whatever he wants! I will think up a new goal in the meantime. Thank you all, and keep on tuning in for more cartoons.

Why does the moon appear to change its shape in a cycle every month? No it's not the Sandman, or a pink bunny rabbit, but SHADOWS! Norm stays up a bit late to explain the moon phases!

Or...... Mario Grumps. Peach's game room is pretty swank! I imagine the irony of Mario doing badly at video games and he has a mini-rant about it before they continue further.
I had this idea months ago. I originally intended for it to be a short animation, but I am packed with enough stuff right now that will last more months. I like these painterly styles, but they take a bit longer to do than cel style drawing. I'll try to do more like this painting in the future though!

This Patreon has inspired me to get back into doing more original art that isn't animation! So with this fanart line (Over The Garden Wall was last), here's the cast of Big Hero 6 at a cherry blossom viewing, which I do annually too! A bit out of season, but the movie sure doesn't take place during the Winter.
Look forward to a holiday episode of Tidbits With Norm & Cory sometime next week. Please spread the word about my Patreon account so more people can see my work.

I haven't seen the ending as I am following the broadcast, but I am already enjoying Cartoon Network's first mini-series, Over The Garden Wall! So I had to make fan art of it! :D It does remind me of the old New England landscape and old nursery rhymes I used to know as a kid. It's only premiering this week until Friday, but you can already catch the whole show online on iTunes.
And as always, spread the word about my Patreon account! :) New episode of Tidbits coming on November 20th, my birthday!
