Encounter - Free Version

Wed Sep 9 21:32:39 2020

Here it finally is, my longest animation so far! Clocking in at over 10 minutes, this somewhat unique animation mocks a classic video game boss encounter and likely a somewhat unusual romance!

A huge thank you to all of those on Patreon for enabling me to make this animation! This has taken by far the longest production time yet, due to the sheer length of the animated material. The total production time of this was roughly 8 months, with 6 months being purely animation time. I'm incredibly grateful for my patrons patience on this, as getting this done was an incredibly difficult task. Everything from making the environments, setting up lighting and shading, modelling unique assets, and of course the animation itself was quite time consuming and often drove me to the point where I started to question myself if I'm actually capable of pulling this thing off. Luckily I've had some help by some incredibly talented voice actors who helped bringing these characters to live by perfectly delivering the silly lines I gave them. A huge thank you to Gen, Barry, and Hestia for their incredible enthusiasm on this, it gave me a lot of confidence in this animation and helped driving the light-hearted mood of this film.

This animation also marks the first time I'm using binaural audio to further enhance the more sensual parts. A lot of the audio was recorded with simple every day objects, using a stereo setup of two Neumann mics. Next to the foley work there's also a decent bit of high quality library audio here, as well as some samples from Jeschke's packs that are available over on FA. The music was done in Cubase, using samples from Eastwest's Composer Cloud, as well as a couple of soundfonts and free synths I found online.

Despite the insane length, this animation was natively rendered at 60FPS/4096x2403/32-Bit color to ensure the highest possible quality. Note that the high framerate and lossless 4KHDR versions are only available on the higher Patreon tiers, as these also come with some hefty file sizes. The entire foreground (characters + close environment) was rendered on a single 2080 Ti, while the background (mountain vista + sky) was rendered by a laptop with a GTX 1070. I had to make some visual compromises to get everything rendered in a somewhat timely manner, these were mostly related to light probe resolution and fur density since these effects were pretty brutal on the VRAM. Here's hoping that making compromises will soon be a thing of the past since new GPUs are just around the corner!

Anywho, enough with the technical stuff. I hope you can enjoy the finalized animation! :D

Bonus angles - Preview

Sat Aug 22 11:55:03 2020

Here's a quick look at some of the bonus angles for the extended version of the animation that will be posted next month! Note that some of these were mainly animated for a 1st person POV, so they can look a tiny bit wonky from an outer angle. I'm currently re-rendering one of the angles since I didn't like how it turned out, afterwards I'll finish animating the post credits scene, so the release for the extended version should be somewhere in between the 1st - 10th of September, roughly one month after the initial release!

Many thanks for the overwhelming feedback on the animation by the way! I still haven't caught up with all the PMs and comments, but I'm hoping to get there soon! There's also been some RL stuff I'm still catching up with, which I've been neglecting quite a bit during the recent weeks of crunch, means I'm still a bit slow with getting back to folks!

Lastly, the free version of this animation should get posted a couple of days after the extended cut. I'll have to offset things by a few days to figure out a decent compromise between quality and file size, as I'm afraid of the public release bursting my bandwidth otherwise!

Sun Aug 9 11:08:13 2020

When it's so early, there isn't even a cover yet!

Here it finally is, my longest animation so far! Clocking in at over 10 minutes, this somewhat unique animation mocks a classic video game boss encounter and likely a somewhat unusual romance~! But I think I've already said it all during the many months of production time!

Note that despite the visuals being mostly finalized, it's still missing a few minor touches such as water drops on the camera, and one or two sound effects here and there. Since I didn't want to delay the release any further, I've decided to postpone these for the extended version next month, which will include some alternative angles for some of the sequences, as well as a tiny post credits scene. I'll also make sure to fix other stuff in that extended version, such as the subtitles being out of sync in a later scene. For now I hope you can enjoy this animation and have a blast watching it~!

Some final renders!

Mon Jul 27 10:59:13 2020

As usual, here's a small gallery showing some of the final renders with full post effects and color grading. Putting the frame sequences together became a fairly elaborate task, as with the native 60FPS format, as well as the extended length, frame numbers multiplied to such a degree that the bare frames, with all the layer groups came together at over a whopping 20TB in size. After putting everything together it's now down to a single, cozy terabyte, but for now I'll have to keep the source files in case something horrible happens along the way.

While I'm currently grading the last few sequences, I'm about to get everything ready for the final sound design, which still needs to be done for a large part of the animation, as the sneak peak was only a small part of it. I was originally planning for a release somewhere in between the 25 - 31st July, but after losing a couple of days to repairing broken TIFF sequences, I'd say that early August seems more realistic, as there's still a decent bit of work to do with the sound design. Working with these massive file sizes has been a huge challenge and has been a lot more time consuming than I initially thought, so here's hoping you still have a little bit of patience until everything is nice and toasty. ;w;

Once the full version is out I'm planning to work on an extended version that will come with a small post-credits scene, as well as some bonus angles from the tastier shots! These will either be added after the post-credits scene, or released as their own files!

Animation sneak-peak (1080p/60)

Sat Jul 4 20:39:20 2020

1080p/60FPS: Link (Link gets updated regularly, make sure to directly use the one in the post on Patreon)

Here's a short sneak-peak for the upcoming animation! I'm frankly a bit uneasy putting this out, since this is super unfinished and heavily WIP. There's currently no post-production (apart from the depth of field in the stomach scene), making for a raw and untreated image. The sound design is unfinished as well, with there being a lot of missing sound effects, as well as missing voice samples in the beginning, which is due to the actor for the hero character having fallen sick. The final version will also feature HUD elements, as well as typical videogame button prompts that will show up in certain situations. I'm hoping to release the full 10-minute version later this month, with the project probably needing another 2 - 3 weeks inside the oven.

Should you still have the patience then I'd recommend skipping this, as it's probably best to see the full experience without any spoilers, even if most of the scenes in this preview version have already been spoiled in the many playblasts I've been posting.

Sound design preview!

Here's a short sequence to show the sound design, as well as Zoe's new voice! I've written a bit of original music for the animation, so the entire thing doesn't sound as sterile on the ears. The sound design itself is using binaural samples from high-quality sound libraries such as Boom Library, some of Jeschke's stuff, as well as a bit of custom foley work that will totally not be recorded with wet rags or something. I mean that would be totally silly! :D

Hoh boy, figured we recently crossed 1000 patrons, so a HUGE thank you to everyone here! Wish I could do a bit more than just posting another preview while I'm still barely awake, but at least the sneak peak version will be done soon. This version will feature the first 3-ish minutes of the film, though it probably won't have much in terms of post production, as the main sequences are still rendering. The quality will likely be like in the sound design preview I linked above, but hey! 60FPS will be a given, now where it's natively produced at that framerate!

While we're at it, here's another render preview that shows all the render layers!

Render progress

Wed Jun 17 02:35:52 2020

First off, apologies for the long wait. Rendering this lengthy animation is taking quite a decent while due to the sheer amount of frames. ;-;

Right now two thirds of the main part with Zoe are rendered. There were a few complications with a certain scene that had issues with heavy shadow flickering occurring during one of the close ups. While I wasn't able to fully fix it, I was at least able to minimize it to a degree where it's not a distraction. Apart from that I finished animating all the three internal scenes, with two of them already rendered. There's still two more scenes I'm animating, but these only include fairly low-key animation and are more of an environment design job. It's basically an area that has an old-fashioned save point in it, serving as a respawn area for the player. This also exists as a bit of an intro environment for the film so it feels a little more fleshed out. It's not finalized yet, still lacking lighting and some veggies, but I'm hoping to get there in a couple days.

Work on sound design has started just a few days ago, with me implementing some music I wrote, various environment sounds, as well as some voice work, for which I've already received a number of samples. As you can probably imagine, the recent weeks have been heavy in multitasking, with me only sleeping when all my systems were busy rendering. Part of the reason for the delay in render time is an external GPU box I've ordered two months back. Back then the item was available, but delivery time kept getting pushed back with every other week until the thing was basically reported unavailable at every reseller here. I'm uncertain if this had anything to do with the pandemic, but it seemed like an odd item to go out of stock so suddenly. My second PC has luckily still been able to support rendering this film, albeit at a much slower speed.

I'm still planning to release a sneak-peak version of the animation before the month's end, which would show the first three minutes of the film. There might be some things missing such as the full post-production, as well as a couple samples in the sound design.

While rendering should definitely finish this month, I still need some time to slam all the frames together, do post production, and the full sound design. In the meantime I should have some new render previews available this coming weekend. Might as well show a snippet of the sound design, which includes ASMR-style binaural audio. In the meantime, thank you so much for your patience. I'll make sure this animation won't disappoint!

Exciting post about taxes!

Mon Jun 1 02:25:16 2020

I've been reading about Patreon being required to include sales tax now and just adjusted the tiers with a couple of pre-defined categories they offer, including WIP content, as well as downloadable goods, and patron shout-outs for the higher tiers. I still have no idea how this is going to affect pledges yet, as it seems it will only affect a handful of patrons (based on residence?).

While most people could see no effects at all, I still wanted to post this heads-up here. In case there are any changes to your pledge, please let me know in the comments!

First render previews! (Not mobile friendly)

Sun May 31 00:22:23 2020

Here's a first look of some of the render previews from the first part of the animation! Right now I have almost 10.000 frames rendered, with roughly 15.000 more to go. Probably a few more since I'm still animating new scenes, but these should render considerably faster since Zoe's fur won't be on most of these! These previews don't have the full post production yet, means the final images are going to look a lot more balanced and vibrant. I'll also include depth of field, but will mostly use it sparingly and only in "cutscenes".

While the rendering is pretty fast thanks to careful optimization, the sheer amount of frames is making the progress a lot slower than in previous films. Throughout the last two weeks I've also been working on a few other things related to this animation, including writing two simple pieces of music, as well as animating the first internal scene, as well as an additional scene where Zoe belches, which should hopefully please the burp gang at last!

Should I ever tackle something of this caliber again, I might end up collaborating with someone, as I noticed that some 3D artists on Furaffinity seem to be doing it this way, which frankly doesn't seem like such a bad idea. Despite being able to animate, model, render, do sound design, and having a bit of musical training; I shouldn't really take on everything on my own and maybe commission at least the sound and music by someone else next time. I'm just usually a bit picky when it comes to these things, as I think they can still make or break an animation.

To prove I'm actually rendering at 60 FPS I'm including this slow-mo sequence at 50%, which should reveal that all the frames are real and nothing is interpolated. There's been a few issues with some physics at first that seemed to be tied to the 30 FPS refresh, but I managed to solve all these problems.

Gotta see how I'm going to release this animation, as I'm still animating scenes and need to do the sound design, as well as a bit more music later on. Perhaps I end up first releasing the first 3 - 4 minutes of it next month, and the full version a few weeks later since everything from the post production to the sound design is scaling with the runtime of this film, making it take quite a bit longer. It at least seems like a better method than releasing it with scenes that are missing in between it, where actual context is lost.

Here's also a playblast of one of the first internal scenes, note this isn't final render though!

Polishing and Render Prep

Thu May 14 12:29:36 2020

Render prep for the new animation is almost done, which means that I'm planning to start rendering tomorrow! Throughout the last weeks I've been improving the animation, revising the entire environment, got rid of all the remaining bugs, optimized the per-frame render times and exported a draft render version of the film for the voice actors and the sound design I'll be doing later on!

To my surprise, the time of the draft render version already clocked in at 7-minutes, already making this the longest running animation yet. Considering I'm still animating about six scenes for the extended version it's not unlikely that this one might end up somewhere around 10 minutes. Phew... guess there really wasn't a whole lot else to do during the quarantine. This run time sounds quite awesome in theory, though I'm afraid it might make rendering this film in a somewhat timely manner a bit of a challenge, especially so at 60FPS. Right now it's difficult to give a clear estimate on how long the total render time will be, but considered there are already over 25.000 frames to grind through it will likely be longer than anything before that. The lengthy Halloween animation for example only had a meager 7.500 frames in comparison, but that one was also rendered at only 30FPS. Should this film take over a month to render then I might do a little swap and push out a new mini animation next month to shorten the waiting time a little. That's only in case that rendering will take an obscene amount of time whatsoever!

Feel free to enlarge these 4K pictures and zoom in all the way, as the detail still holds up with everything completely blown up. I've replaced every photo-scanned asset in the close vicinity with its high poly source file. Of course I reduced their poly count a little to optimize the render time, as I realized that not every asset needs to necessarily have over a million triangles. These photo scans are all from the Megascans library by the way, which was also heavily used in the Unreal Engine 5 demo during yesterday's PS5 showcase.

In addition to better assets I've also made sure to completely rework the ground and cliff textures for the custom objects I've made, including an overhaul of the background landscape, which now has proper texturing, as well as efficient custom billboard trees that make it look a little less barren! Oh, and look at all this new vegetation as well!

The following target renders are quickly put together to show what Zoe looks like in the environment with her full fur density. I've made it so the quantity of her fur is reduced when she's a little further away from the camera to cut down the render time a bit. Sadly I didn't manage to implement the claws I've made for her, as it would have required to redo her entire hand rigs, which would've also required me to animate her fingers all over again for the entire animation. Ah well, something to do for next time. I've however managed to include paw pads that make a nice contrast with her furred parts whatsoever. At least one thing that worked without having to do any major changes!

As mentioned, rendering will likely start tomorrow! I have rented a RTX 2080Ti, and another RTX 2070S that is my own to get the job done, even though the later card will probably just sit around and do nothing during the first weeks, as the external graphics card box I've ordered for my laptop weeks ago was now delayed indefinitely, likely due to Corona O'Brien. As always, I'll let you know how things are progressing! Expect some render clips and possibly 60FPS sequences throughout the upcoming weeks. And once again, thanks for sticking around during these tough times! ;w;

Extended Playblasts 3

Sat Apr 25 12:27:58 2020

Here's another round of more polished playblasts, showing the appropriate scene lighting of the recent three clips! Might have to alter Zoe's fur a little whenever the camera is close to her face, so the hair doesn't seem as thick, but that's something for the final render, as it will be rendered with four times the density! The lighting you're seeing here is pretty much representative of the final look, even though it will still look a little more refined for the actual final render when all the effects and assets are in place.

Right now I'm animating the final scene and already have 40 seconds of it done, hoping to finalize it before the end of the month. I'm admittedly taking a few shortcuts in this one by having some of Zoe's dialogue play out off-camera, as otherwise I'd still be stuck on that scene until mid next month. And considering I still want to animate some additional scenes like a burp, I needed to aim for a bit more efficiency in this one, especially since it's mostly just dialogue, which is somewhat secondary. Overall it looks like I'll be finishing somewhere around frame 12000, which is over 6 and a half minutes. There's probably half a minute that will be shaved off from that since in between scenes there's a couple of sequences where I repositioned the characters for the next scene. However, there's about one minute of internal shots being added, which should bring this back to 7 minutes. And then there's still an intro sequence and two additional scenes for the extended cut, so... oh boy.

Definitely need to fix Zoe's fingers since the fur always goes wild there. If I still have a bit of time I might end up adding claws and pawpads as well, but only if I can get these implemented in a timely manner! For now I'm hoping you're enjoying these slightly extended cuts. Please note that it will probably still be at least 6 weeks until the preview version should be ready, so don't get hyped up just yet. From here on I'll still be animating and mainly polishing for two more weeks before getting into the rendering process. I'll however keep you updated with previews, including the first fully rendered sequences, as well as probably one playblast that shows the internals. Note that the environment is likely going to get touched up a little as well, as I still think that things could still look a little better!

As always, thank you so much for the amazing ongoing support! I'm pretty confident this will become the best burning pastry animation yet due to all the time you allowed me to put into this. Thank you for being so patient with this! ;-;

Honeybun - Playblast

Mon Apr 13 01:30:05 2020

After walking straight into Zoe's hand, our vixen seems to be on to our hero. c:

Had to make cuts on this sequence again since it's a bit slower paced to be more sensual. This scene is the second to last one, already pushing the animation past the 5 minute mark and already making it the one with the longest run time yet. It still isn't finished and literally ends on the last frame shown here, but with my current tempo I should be able to finish it within the next few days and then tackle the final scene, which will conclude this encounter!

The lighting for this scene is pretty close to final this time. Time of day will progress during the animation, having it go through roughly four setups to avoid that samey look during this film. I'll make sure to post one more round of extended playblasts later this month, by that time I should hopefully be almost done and continue with scene polishing before finally getting to render the first few scenes! I'm still expecting it to be at least 6 weeks before the release of the exclusive preview version of this animation, as rendering this will be no joke, especially at 60FPS. But I'll get more into that with the next preview! In the meantime, thank you so much for your invaluable patience. Stay safe everyone!

I'll be gentle - Playblast

Mon Mar 30 18:11:10 2020

Might use a different camera angle for this later on that shows her mouth a little better!

A small excerpt from the successful suction attack, which is pretty far into the animation! The scene that follows up to this is almost done as well, and likely one of the best sequences I've animated yet, but having already shown a decent number of these playblasts I don't want to spoil all the good stuff yet! I might include a small snippet in the extended playblasts later on, though!

This month's overall progress has been quite quite fantastic, with me having been able to finalize two major scenes and getting fairly close to the 4-minute mark now. I'm currently getting a lot of progress done, which is partly due to the current quarantine as well. With my other job almost standing still right now, I've occasionally been able to push up to 14 daily hours into animating, boosting my progress quite a bit. There's roughly three larger scenes ahead that I'll be working on next month. Once these are finalized I'll advance to polishing and rendering the first scenes, while simultaneously working on other sequences. Once all scenes are done I'm expecting this animation to be somewhere around 5 - 6 minutes in runtime, with the extended version probably going beyond that later on.

More of these will come next month, as I'm approaching the animation's final scenes. Thank you guys so much for staying with me during these rough times! Remember to stay inside and be safe! ;-;

A few more updates

Tue Mar 17 20:09:47 2020

Many thanks on the overwhelming feedback of the last playblast! I was actually a bit shy to post it, since I think there's still a lot of things that need improvement, but I'm glad it already excited you despite the rough spots!

Despite the current lockdown in most European countries I'll be able to continue work as usual. If anything then it might make my progress on this animation a little faster, since I won't be distracted by travels. I recently got back from a short business-related trip to London, and luckily everything went smoothly since airports were still functional a week ago. Looks like for now I'll be locked in and have all the time to focus on animating, so here's hoping I can further ramp up the progress within the next weeks and grind through the rest of this new animation!

Something that has me a little concerned though, is the entire economic freeze that is currently happening. NVidia was supposed to announce new cards in a few days, but called the entire announcement off yesterday, means I'll likely have to render this on current day hardware. I'll have to see if I can rent a Titan RTX once I'm close to rendering, as it's currently the only thing with enough video memory to render this animation in a timely manner at 60FPS and all. Should this not be the case then I'll have to look for alternatives. Having spent this much time animating, I want to ensure this animation is rendered in the most visually appealling way, so I'm a bit reluctant to compromise any of the visual quality. But we'll see how things are looking in a couple of weeks.

Zoe Voice Actress

I've been in touch with a potential new voice actress for Zoe after roaming through the infinite depths of Furaffinity. After hearing someone who goes by the name Gen Corgi voice another character, I immediately tossed her a note and found out she'd certainly be up for voicing Zoe in this new animation. The timbre of her voice is quite close to what I always imagined Zoe to sound like, on top of that she has a professional setup, so the quality of the samples should be quite pristine.

You can listen to her here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31553770/

Note that I'm still planning to have Hestia record samples as an alternative, But I'll have to see how burned out I'll be by the end of this. There's also a voice actor who will provide the voice of the 1st person character, but that's something I'll get into when I'm done animating!

Many thanks for the overwhelming ongoing support! I'm planning to have another playblast posted by the end of the month, so stay tuned! (:

This little game of ours - Playblast (Rough)

Mon Mar 16 14:14:22 2020

Looks like we have a bit of a romance at hand~!

Things are getting a little more sensual after the player got temporarily pushed down to the ground, and despite Zoe not exactly holding him down, he aparently makes not much of an effort to get away, tsk!

This segment was supposed to show that Zoe doesn't actually mean any harm and may even have a bit of a crush on our hero, she just has a particular way of showing it! From this point the dynamic is going to get quite a bit more sensual as we're slowly approaching the conclusion of this "boss fight". Our vixen eventually picks up on the hero liking her as well, which will lead to the next scenes getting more and more intimate. But I don't want to spoil too much yet, despite the high number of frames there's still a lot of animation ahead of us!

Phew... this scene was quite a bit of work! It's actually so long that I had to put cuts into this playblast to stay within gif limitations, and that's still just showing some parts of it. Since the recent update last month I've managed to get well over one minute of new animation done. Things are still a little rough looking, but I'll make sure to have it polished for the next big preview. Right now there's still a bit of clipping, as well as the lighting still being a bit so so. This clip is only using the preview lighting with low-res shadow maps, also suffering from a lot of light bleeding. For the final render I'm likely going to have the lighting adjusted for this scene, so everything looks nice and pretty. It's also likely I'll have the time of day shift a little during the course of this animation, basically have it start at sunset and end at night. This should keep the scene from looking all samey, which will definitely be necessary since it's going to be one lengthy animation!

Going to post another small text update either tomorrow or the day after. For now I wanted to get this new preview out and get right back to work. There's still some other updates I wanted to share about this animation, but I didn't want to squeeze all of it into one post, so stay tuned! (:

Extended Playblasts 2 (Not mobile friendly)

Fri Feb 21 13:54:01 2020

Round 2 of the extended playblasts is here! Here's some prettier versions of the previously posted ones with some of the heavier effects enabled, albeit at farily reserved settings. Unlike last time I also brought in the trees, so the scene looks a lot less baren in comparison to the old previews. Only thing that is still missing in terms of environment effects are the 3D mountain backdrop, hipoly assets, as well as atmospheric fog that will create a proper sense of depth.

Zoe's fur is rendered in a simplified manner and only using 1/5 of its actual density for these previews. The shadowing on her is already looking pretty solid whatsoever and somewhat representative of the final lighting. I had to figure out a new way of having her lit by the sun, as my entire lighting is 100% based on shadow maps. Since the shadow map of the sun needs to cover the entire area, the shadows cast on her would turn out very blocky up close. Having her lit by her own exclusive light that would only stretch the shadow resolution over her own model would give sharp shadows, but she'd consequently not cast shadows on the environment. I managed to solve this by using an exclusive sun light source for her model, while also having a second model of her that is not primarily rendered, but still linked to the environment sun shadow map, this way she casts low res shadows on the area, while the self shadowing on herself is handled by another light source, allowing beautiful depth shadowing of her fur without causing any flickering. There's no real purpose for anyone to know this, I just wanted people to know how difficult that was. :D

I'm still considering having this rendered at 60FPS later on, but I'm still a bit uncertain if I can pull this off with the supposed target visuals. It also looks like this animation is going to be quite lengthy in runtime, with the currently finished animations already clocking in at almost 2 minutes of runtime. I'm just approaching the halfway point of the script, so the final animation is likely going to be somewhere in the ballpark of the longest running films such as the Halloween animation I made a few years back, only that the 'animation density' is significantly higher here. I still have a hard time giving an ETA on when this will be finished, but considering that I can reuse some of the animations you're seeing in these playblasts, the progress from here on could speed up significantly. Then on the other hand I'm just getting started with all the more complicated nomming scenes, of which there will be quite a few more!

Here's another bonus playblast to show that there will also be the occasional 3rd person scene thrown in here and there. While this player rig has been significantly updated from the last animations, there likely won't be anything that identifies them, which should make it easier for the viewer to see themself in that role. There will also be tiny bits of dialogue from the player, but it will be rather short and likely done with gibberish sound samples. Note that despite all the nomming, I'm actually planning on having this end in a bit of a happy ending where the player gets the suitcase back and makes peace with Zoe. How it comes to that is something I don't want to reveal just yet, but who knows! Maybe both of their mother's name is Martha~

Again, a HUGE thank you to all of you for your amazing support! If it weren't for you then I couldn't even put a fraction of time into animating this. Here's hoping that these extended playblasts will shorten the waiting time once more.

Gotcha now! - Playblast

Mon Feb 10 11:43:16 2020

Starting off the week with a new playblast! This one's admittedly still a little rough around the edges, more so regarding the lighting than the actual animation, but I'll provide an update later on this month!

Phew... this scene was quite a challenge animation wise! Giving the fast movements impact and weight was one thing, what gave me most of the headache though was setting up multiple parent constraints to a character rig, so the player could be parented to first her hand and then her jaw. With the last animation I managed to set everything up beforehand, with this one I realized the system was broken though, so I needed to redo it without it affecting the previous animation that comes before it, ah well! At least it's working now.

A new series of enhanced playblasts will be delivered by the end of the month. This will include an extended version of this one, so stay tuned!

Suction Attack - Playblast

Thu Jan 23 18:41:42 2020

Huaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! *Insert Kirby sound*

This suction attack is a bit hard to dodge, gotta make sure to take some distance in the moment she leans down and walk towards the side!

This one was quite fun to animate, for the final render I'm hoping to include some turbulence effects and make the grass dynamic, given I can pull that off without breaking something.

Pew pew pew! - Playblast

Fri Jan 17 07:45:51 2020

Finally getting to the action! Here's a first look at some generic attacks, as well as a grab that the player managed to dodge just in time! Looks like the blaster isn't doing any damage on Zoe, so the player will likely have to find other methods of winning this battle, oh well!

Note that the animation where she leans onto the ground is still a bit unpolished. Definitely going to tweak her eye expression once more since it currently looks a bit too angry. There's also some clipping on her chest, which will be worked out later on.

Right now I'm focused on doing all the attack and grab animations of her, once these are done they can practically be reused and the animation progress should be a lot faster. I have to admit I slightly underestimated how long it would take to animate the player movement and make the jumping and running seem like there's proper weight and impact. I think it's looking proper now whatsoever. It's always important to have just enough bobbing to add a sense of weight, as too much will quickly end up making the viewer nauseous.

From here on I'm approaching the nommy bits, so expect a preview on that later this month!

First person perspective - First Look

Wed Jan 1 18:00:04 2020

First off, happy new year everyone! Hope you all managed to celebrate Christmas and New Year's Eve with your family and got some time off! Thanks so much for this year's amazing support to everyone around here. I'll certainly do my best for 2020 to keep the animations coming, which will of course include the current bossfight animation, as well as Zoe Noms U 3, which I want to get back to after this one is completed.

Despite the holidays I've managed to keep things on track and finalize the first-person rig, as well as implement and animate it for the scene. The model is based on the one from the previous animation, only this time it's using proper clothing and fabric textures, rather than plain colors. Since I didn't want to include any guns, I've went for a more Mega Man/Metroid-style blaster canon, which will of course not do a whole lot to Zoe, but you'll see about that later~! A HUD will also be implemented to give it a more videogame-ish appearance, but that's something I won't be tackling before post.

With the entire intro being done I can finally move on to the actual boss fight itself, which should be quite a fun challenge to animate! I'll make sure to keep you updated with new previews as much as I can. (:

Extended Playblasts (Not mobile friendly)

Fri Dec 20 23:02:34 2019

Oh boy, if Patreon ever decreases the files size limits of gifs, then it will probably be my fault!

Finally, a look at some of the playblasts of the first part of the new animation with lighting! I've decided to go a little further with these and include a few more graphical effects such as fur to give a better impression of the eventual final look. Of course these only use moderate settings and are somewhat simplified since these test sequences need to render in a timely manner. Note that the trees, as well as the entire surrounding landscape won't be in these as I'm excluding them from the WIP project file to keep it at a moderate space and prevent saving from taking forever. They'll of course be included in the final render!

In terms of progress I'd say this introduction sequence makes out about 1/4 - 1/3 of the animation, which I guess shows how much of an undertaking this one is once again. With the scope of this animation being this wide, I'm even considering releasing a mini animation somewhere in between it to buffer the waiting time a bit. It probably won't be possible to remove any scenes from this one during production as in some of the previous films due to the POV nature of it.

I might turn these extended playblasts into a habit whenever I reach certain points within a lengthy animation, given people enjoy these. These are all fairly polished with various complicated deformations already being fully animated, which you'll notice if you pay attention to how Zoe's chest deforms against her arms, or how she pinches her tummy between her thumb and index finger. Of course this isn’t the final render polish and there’s still issues such as Zoe’s hair clipping through her head, as well as her eyes looking a little dead with partially missing specular highlights. There also might be a few more changes to lighting to illuminate her mouth a little better, but that’s something I won’t touch too much before the final polish. For the rest of the month I’ll be setting up the first person rig, along with its animation, meaning there probably won’t be any other playblasts this month. Here’s hoping that this rather elaborate preview makes up for it though!

Thanks so much for everyone’s incredible support this year, I’ll do my absolute best to keep these animations coming and try to further improve with animating these. Hope you’ll all have a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year! <3

So you came here for this! - Playblast (No lighting)

Sat Nov 30 16:34:16 2019

Here's another early playblast from Zoe's introduction sequence and a bit of pointer on what this boss fight is going to be about! There's another bit of monologue before this, but I didn't want this playblast to get too long. Nevertheless I'll make sure to post an extended version of this next month, hopefully with this sequence finished, the POV rig set up, and some preview lighting to give a better idea for the scene's mood!

The intro sequence on its own is already 30 seconds in length, once completed it should be around 40. At the moment there's still some clipping with her chest going through her arm and some animation detail such as her iris and tail moving missing, but I'm hoping to have all of that sorted out soon, so stay tuned! (:

Zoe Night Wallpaper

Tue Nov 19 08:38:10 2019

Here's a little wallpaper for Patreon's thank your patrons day, for which I took two days off from animating to make something small for the occasion! A big shout out to everyone who's been supporting me over here and making it possible for me to devote this much time to animation. I still feel like it was yesterday when I started out after going back and forth with people whether it was a good idea to start a Patreon. Needless to say I was more than happy to be proven wrong about all my insecurities after everything took off, which is all thanks to you guys! ;w;

Before I descend back into my lair to animate, I wanted to share this little wallpaper that incorporates the night setting of the new environment, Zoe included! Make sure to infinitely zoom in on it, as the image was rendered out at a completely unnecessary 8K pixel count! In case you don't like Zoe there's also a version without her. This one also has the depth of field disabled as well.

Just don't look too closely at the cliff. Since it's blocked in the image by Zoe I completely disabled the tessellation for that object. Guess that's the level of optimization I've reached by now, oh boy!

Hoping to have a new playblast finalized by the end up the month, which will feature some light nommy stuff. So stay tuned! <3

Well look who it is! - Playblast (No lighting)

Mon Nov 11 23:59:18 2019

Super duper early stuff! D-Don't judge too hard. ;-;

Zoe has a bit of an introduction sequence that will play right before the battle! Of course it's going to include a decent bit of voice acting again, as I find it quite fitting for this animation! Since she's playing a big, evil boss I'm hoping to give a bit of a Shenzy vibe, but that will also be up to Hestia for later on. For now this is a super early test animation, more will follow later this month! (:

Mountain Range (Lighting Studies)

Sun Oct 27 15:07:01 2019

Here’s a look at the finalized stage, along with some lighting studies that I made to experiment with the colors and mood for this animation.

The one with the bright noon lighting was actually the kind of lighting I was originally going for, but no matter where I positioned the sun, the scene never looked as convincing as I intended it to, which is why I scraped it and moved to something a little more diffuse.

Overall I ended up preferring the sunrise mood, which is basically based on the lighting of the most recent animation loop! This also ended up looking best on Zoe herself, with the sun coming from behind providing a nice rim light to her fur in contrast with the diffuse ambient light.

The night lighting was the most experimental one of the bunch. And while I like soft and diffuse scenarios, the scene was overall a bit too dark. Sadly the skybox suffers from a bit of color banding since my renderer squeezes all textures down to 8-bit color depth. This could be fixed by using a different night skybox, but since this is only an alternative study I’ll leave it to that!

Rendering everything later on is going to be a challenge once again, as both Zoe and the environment need to be rendered in a single pass since one is constantly overlapping over the other. Only the mountains in the background can be rendered out in a separate pass. I’m also targeting rendering the entire animation at native 60FPS later on, but I can’t guarantee this just yet. I’ll have to see how far I can optimize everything in the end!

Stage Progress

Tue Oct 22 17:58:34 2019

Hey guys! Just posting a quick update on the scene I’m working on for the new boss fight animation! Since the previous environments I made aren’t really fitting with this new animation, I had to start on something from scratch and tailor the stage to the animation right from the beginning. The idea is that the player has only limited space to maneuver and dodge Zoe’s attacks, who’s looming over the ledge of the cliff!

I’ve already multiple outdoor environments for animations with a bit of a forest theme, which is why this is getting a bit more mountainous! Here I’ve started with modelling a vast landscape that will serve as a backdrop when you’re looking at Zoe. The “player area” is mostly surrounded by it, so should Zoe grab the player and pull them out of the main area, people will at least have something fancy to look into the distance!

For the previous animations I’ve done most environment assets (safe for trees) myself. To get a bit of a productivity boost for this one I’ve grabbed myself a Megascans subscription to make use of their amazing textures and photo scans. Their Mixer is an impressive tool for quickly creating custom textures in a Photoshop-esque layer workflow and helped me tremendously texturing the ground and cliff edges. If you’re a 3D artist and into environment art I can highly recommend their library!

The stage should be finalized within the next days, right now I’m already working on details such as grass and small pebbles populating the ground. I’m still experimenting with lighting, so expect a lighting study with the finished stage soon!

Boss-fight animation concept

Sat Oct 12 18:57:09 2019

The next big animation is going to be a little different from the usual ones I’ve posted here throughout the months! Originally I wanted to continue with Zoe Noms U 3, but I feel that safe for a different scenario, it would feel a little samey to the recently released one, which is why I want to move it back in queue for a later date. The scenario I’m planning for the next animation is a concept I’ve been considering for a while now, but I mostly kept it in the drawer since I was uncertain if I had the know-how and skills to pull it off properly since it’s a bit different from the previous releases. The basic idea is that Zoe is a giant end boss, which the player is failing to beat throughout multiple tries, basically getting eaten over and over. I’m planning to have the animation look like a pseudo first person shooter to get as up close and personal with her as possible.

I’ve already started working on a new environment for the animation, which I might be able to show sometime later this month. Once all assets are done I’ll get right to the animation work, which will be plenty! For now let me know if you like the concept! (:

And the follow up from last month's animation loop. Looks like Zoe was busy all night delivering noms left and right! I personally like the thought of the viewer having gone fishing with her all night and she gobbled up all the catch, but it's fairly ambiguous, so you can make up your own theory!

This animation was natively rendered at 60FPS again, even though I think it doesn't benefit this clip as much as it did in the previous animation. Took an entire week doing rendering and compositing due to insane amount of on-screen fur, turns out that big stretchy tummies need a lot of that!

Looks like it's morning already and Zoe had nothing better to do than to pull noms all night, oh well!

Still need to smooth her tummy a bit for the final render. This loop turned out a little longer with a runtime of roughly 11 seconds. Currently polishing the last bit of animation and setting up the background! Expecting it to be finished until the end of the month! (:

A small preview at the second part of last month's mini animation, showing how the evening progressed! c:

Sorry for being a little late with this preview, had to restart on the animation a few days ago after realizing there was something broken with Zoe's tummy rig, so I had to go two animations back, re-implement all the updates added in the meantime, and redo the animation keys with the working rig. Guess in the end I'm glad I noticed it now, rather than halfway into a big animation.

Since the environment is already there I'll be able to cut a bit of time, even though the lighting will be revamped to give it a bit of a different look. Expect another update on this in a few days, hopefully with lighting, as well as a squeeze~!

Almost in transition, here's the new mini animation I've previously teased! Having Zoe goof off a bit during a spooky night trip through the forest. There's going to be a follow up to this next month, which will be a little more tummy focused, so here's hoping people like the premise!

Blargh to her hair, which still doesn't loop perfectly, despite me helping a bit with adjusting the physics that influence it. Looks like I'll have to get back to making a fade next time, ah well!

The clip was rendered natively at 60FPS, and considered there's complex area lighting with volumetrics and GI, fur, and SSS, this was quite a tall order. Hoping to be able to afford an RTX Titan towards the end of the year, since natively rendering full animations in 4K/60FPS could actually become an option then! Next to the improved fluidity, rendering at a frame rate like this also makes it possible to do quite amazing slow motion shots~! Making sure to include these here for your convenience!

Spooky Zoe - Progress

Tue Aug 13 06:38:45 2019

Little update from the new mini animation, this time with some lighting! Here Zoe grabs the viewer by the collar to give them a good little scare! Lighting isn't final yet, so isn't the animation. Should probably be done animating in a few days though so I can fancy up the light some and add an environment. Once done, the loop should be around 10-ish seconds!

So sorry I haven't bumped up the video library yet, will probably do that once this animation is rendering to make the most out of the time, still a wee little bit swamped here! ;w;

Spooky Zoe - August Preview (Rough)

Wed Jul 31 10:48:01 2019

A little sneak peak at the upcoming August mini animation! It's still a bit early to present, but I kind of wanted to post what I'm currently on that isn't related to the recent animation!

In this small loop Zoe is going to grab the viewer's collar before giving them a good look at her maw! Setting wise it's going to be a spookier scene at a bonfire in the forest at night. This was supposedly something I wanted to release during Halloween, but I guess I made a habit of always missing the date by a long shot, oh well! :D

Note that I'm aware that there's some audio artifacts during a scene on the uploads of the recent animation. I'm already rendering new video files where this problem is fixed, but it might still take until tomorrow once everything is ready! Once the links are updated, I'll also update the video library and make it sticky to the front page again for easier access, so stay tuned!

Zoe Noms U 2 - Free Version

Wed Jul 24 03:21:22 2019

Here's the free version of the animation! Phew... this one has probably been the most elaborate thing I've ever animated here. I've already had some small snippets of Zoe talking in one of the more recent animations, but this new POV project was done after a lengthy script and has Zoe talking for almost the entire animation! The film was planned to be released quite a bit earlier, which has me admitting that I've underestimated the time that goes into hand-animating speech quite a bit. There was certainly the point where I considered drastically cutting down the script, but in the end I managed to pull through with the entire animation!

1080p/30FPS: Link

So far the feedback on Zoe babbling away has been pretty positive. I have to admit that I might still go back to smaller phrases in the future, mainly due to the amount of work that goes into animating these long sentences. Big thanks to Hestia for lending Zoe her voice in this animation! Think this film would've never been possible without her, so make sure to send her some love! https://www.patreon.com/voiceofHestia042

Note that this is an extended version of the animation with a few additional scenes. I've been aware of the recent leak and always find it a little difficult to comment on these, safe for saying that it only adds more stress to an already swamped schedule and takes away a lot of the enjoyment of publicly releasing these animations. Since this is getting a little common, I'm preparing a few measurements for the future, which will likely result in copyright strikes. So there's a heads up for channels that have a lot of videos under their hood!

Zoe Noms U 2 - Extended Version (1080p)

Tue Jul 9 06:07:52 2019

Here's the extended version of the new animation! This one features an additional 3rd person gulp, as well as a post-credits scene. Both were originally planned for this animation, but scrapped for the initial release to get it done in a somewhat timely manner. I sadly didn't find the time to animate a burp, but I'll make sure to have that in a future animation. For now I hope you enjoy this extended version of the probably most elaborate piece yet!

1080p/30FPS: Link

Note that I read all the feedback on this current film and will try my best to improve on a few points for future films! I might not be able to bend myself to fulfill every request, but I'll certainly try to work on some fundamentals. For now I'm glad the animation was so well received, as I always stress out about all the imperfections and things that could've been improved on before the release.

60FPS versions are going to follow soon! Might take up to 24h, as I somehow can't remote login into my home workstation anymore and only have my laptop with me to encode these videos, so encoding might be a little slow! In addition to that I'll have all the MEGA links send out once all the versions are up!

All Gone - Additional Scene Preview

Wed Jun 19 05:54:23 2019

Here's a look at one of the first bonus scenes that the new animation is going to be extended by. It's a fairly brief scene that however has a lot of detailed animation going on, which is why this one was cut from the initial release. The scene takes place roughly between the last "In mouth" scene and the last gulp, which is currently just transitioned via a couple of black frames, means the transition isn't probably going to be longer, but probably a bit more satisfying!

Swamped

I feel that I need to additionally address this since I'm currently facing severe difficulties keeping up with feedback and messages on here. I recently got back to LA due to my commitment on an important project and have been crunching a fairly busy schedule. After releasing an animation on here I usually tend to take it a bit easier for a few weeks. But since I'm still working on this animation, I haven't had much of a chance to catch up with anything else going on here, especially so with the work I also need to catch up with IRL.

My main priority is to currently get the extended animation done, send out all the HQ version links, and release the free animation a week or two afterwards. Since I didn't have much time to pack and couldn't bring my big workstation with me, I'm currently remote accessing my main PC to get everything done, which at least works a bit better than I first expected. I'm hoping to have the extended version of the animation out in roughly 2 weeks, in the meantime replies to messages could be very slow since I'm severely scatterbrained. D:

Zoe Noms U 2 (1080p Version)

Fri Jun 7 01:30:33 2019

Apologies for the horrible temporary cover, will make sure to replace it with something fancier later on! The punny title will stay whatsoever~

Phew... this animation has probably been the most elaborate thing I've ever animated here. I've already had some small snippets of Zoe talking in one of the more recent RAADD animation, but this new POV project was done after a lengthy script and has Zoe talking for almost the entire animation! The film was planned to be released quite a bit earlier, which has me admitting that I've underestimated the time that goes into hand-animating speech quite a bit. There was certainly the point where I considered drastically cutting down the script, but in the end I managed to pull through with the entire animation, only cutting two small scenes that will be re-added in an extended cut, along with bonus content later on!

I'll first see what the feedback is regarding Zoe babbling away. Should it be wildly positive then I have to admit that I might still go back to smaller phrases in the future, mainly due to the amount of work that goes into animating these long sentences. I'm aware that some patrons sent me messages of being a tad uncomfortable with her voice actress in the past, which is why I'm working on extra versions that have subtitled gibberish as voice over. These won't be posted until the weekend though, as I'm still encoding the main videos. Speaking of which...

There's going to be a new True 4K quality tier with this animation, where the animation is being encoded at its original downsampled render resolution (4096x2304), in addition this version will be encoded in the Rec. 2020 color space and feature wide color gamut, which should come with significantly less color banding than the standard 4K (3840x2160) version.

Might re-encode the 4K/60 version later on. I recently updated Adobe Media Encoder and the encoding somehow got considerably worse. Well luckily it only costs a fortune...

Final Render Previews

Mon Jun 3 00:54:59 2019

As always before the animation release I'm posting a render strip that shows the animation's final quality. Post production is pretty much done and I've already started doing the sound work this weekend, which should be finalized in the upcoming days. I already hoped to have the animation out last month, before remembering how much of an endeavour sound design always is. I had Hestia do the last recordings today, and from here I'd say we're 2 - 3 days away from the animation release since there's still a bit of editing and foley work necessary. Also been planning to put together a small piece of music for the animation, which should take away a bit of the awkwardness of Zoe having a monologue in a fairly silent room. Since there's little to no environment sounds, the entire thing currently feels a bit like Star Wars minus Williams otherwise

In terms of duration the animation came out at 2:21 in runtime, but I'm still making some edits, which might shave a few seconds off. Right after this I'm planning to release an extended version about one month after its release, which will feature two additional scenes that I had to put aside due to time constraints. Gotta see if I can toss some alternative angles in there as well for bonus content!

EVEN MORE render previews! (Not mobile friendly)

Sun May 26 14:49:59 2019

Post production of the new animation is slowly nearing completion! But with that still being a couple days away I wanted to show some further progress shots that show the nearly final quality of the film! It's probably hard to see on these small gifs, but with this animation there's going to be a bit of a leap in image quality, as I've rendered and edited the entire film at an internal resolution of 8192 x 4608 (8K) before sampling it down to 4K. It was quite painful to edit the dozens of layers at this resolution, but the result is a super clean image with little to no edge shimmering and flickering, something that was always a bit of a problem in some previous animations that had high frequency detail.

In a few days I'll post the usual image strip that shows the final quality of the film, I'm hoping to have all the post work done mid next week so I can move on to sound design and recordings. I've already given Hestia a voice over version for the film last week, so things should move fairly quick from here! Right now I'm pushing myself to get the animation posted by the end of the month, but I want to make sure not to rush things on the last bit, so it's either going to be next week or the weekend!

Note that these aren't color graded yet, means the colors will pop a bit more in the final version!

More WIP Render Playblasts

Tue May 14 01:20:00 2019

Here's some more progress on the rendering! Note that these are just quickly put together to show the progress of the rendering process, once all layers are rendered out, I can start compositing and tweak until everything looks right! There's a few small things that I'm still going to improve, such as Zoe's shadow moving a little stiff in the first sequence. There's still the occasional clipping issue with the 1st person model's arms and legs, as well as some broken frames here and there, which can occur when handling 20000+ frames, but I'm working on these things as we speak! The glass reflection might also come off as a bit distracting, but once depth of field is set up, this element will mostly be blurred, so that shouldn't be an issue anymore! I'll probably post another progress update in a couple of days, which should show a bit more progress! Hope you can enjoy these WIPs in the meantime! (:

I forgot to add motion blur NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Cheeky lil' thing - Render Snippet

Tue May 7 22:10:55 2019

Rendering the new animation is progressing quite decently with roughly half of the layers done! I already wanted to post a more elaborate preview, but since Miss Zoe's extravagant fur is still taking a bit more time to render, I'm instead posting one of the later scenes, which my secondary workstation has already finished rendering earlier on! This one has all of the layers rendered out, including proper depth of field, SSS, volumetric light, and oh, look at those new dynamic saliva strings that actually get thinner after she opened her mouth~! There's only a couple post effects missing, but I won't be doing post production until the entirety of frames/layers is rendered. With that being said, expect a more elaborate post in a couple days! I know the excitement is killing some of you, so thanks so much for the patience in the mean time! (:

Rendering!

Thu Apr 25 07:16:07 2019

Yep, it's that time again! I've officially started rendering yesterday night and things are coming out quite decently! There's a couple more layers (and frames oh gosh) to render than in the recent animations since I had to break this film up a little more due to its complexity. They're all pretty well optimized though, so I'm hoping that makes up for it. For the first time I'm actually using my extreme fur preset for Zoe, which I've only used for stills so far. Luckily I can be a bit more generous in terms of resources this time, as I rented a 2080Ti for this month to get this film rendered in a timely manner. Let's hope this one doesn't break! D:

First WIP render playblast should be ready... next week? Maybe this weekend since this new GPU is chewing through these batches pretty quickly, but hard to give a proper estimate yet since there's so many layers to render, oof!

Meanwhile this was sent to me earlier today and got a good chuckle out of me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pi8St6grBco (NSFW-ish) :D

Cheeky lil' thing - Playblast

Wed Apr 17 09:04:55 2019

Wow, Zoe has no manners talking with her mouth full! :c

Here's the final playblast showing one of the last scenes, I still need to put the environment back in place, so apologies for the plain white background for now! I'm preparing to start polishing the entire animation, which I'm hoping to get done this weekend so I can move to rendering soon! I might be able to show the first early render playblasts late next week, so you can get an idea of how everything looks with fur and all the fancier effects rendered out. I still haven't checked what the runtime is, but it should come out somewhere north of 2 minutes! Can't provide an exact number yet since I tend to do a bit of editing later on in the process. I'm also considering adding another scene, which is more of an optional "if there's still time" thing though. While this renders I need to focus on another critical project, which I'm hopefully getting done exactly during this animation's rendering, fingers crossed!

Update: Review is positive!

Mon Apr 1 20:33:38 2019

Good news! I just received two messages about my page regarding the review and things turned out positive. I got a notice that my page is fully functional again and my ticket got a reply from a Trust & Safety member that everything is good to go! I'm still a bit uncertain what they've been investigating, but for now I'm happy everything is back to normal! (:

Page under review

Mon Apr 1 09:40:54 2019

Hey guys! I just realized that my account is under review by Patreon's trust & safety team. Right now I don't know why it's under review, which is why I sent them a mail to check with them. My page still seems to be accessible just fine, so I can't tell whether it's just a small routine check they're doing, or if it's about something they found that needs to go. Should the later be the case then I might have to remove some content, as I've intended to run this Patreon for another while. =/

I guess all I can do right now is wait for them to get back to me. Should they do so then I'll post an update here asap.

Edit: I just noticed the date, note that this isn't an April fools joke.

Come here! - Playblast

Sun Mar 31 20:19:15 2019

Zoe gets a little more up close and personal in this playblast, so let's hope you can keep doing the Sam Fisher and stay above her inside the glass! I've made a couple more edits to the lighting in the meantime for a more vibrant look, which is a lot closer to the recent wallpaper I posted! Right now I'm done with roughly 1:40 of animation, with the first sequence being pretty much done! There's about two more cuts to come, which will likely have the animation end up above 2 minutes. This probably doesn't sound like much, but consider that there's very little to no idling within this film at all, except for the first 5 seconds of the character waking up.

My plan is to get all of the remaining animation done within the upcoming month and move to rendering by the end of it. Sadly I need to take a short trip back to California starting tomorrow to hold a little presentation that is related to my first job. I'll however be back on the 5th of April and start grinding through the final parts of the animation! Expect one last sequence preview soon! <3

Take me out? - 4K Wallpaper + Composite Breakdown

Sun Mar 17 19:37:36 2019

In addition, here's a layer breakdown of the rendering, as well as a 4K version of the wallpaper itself! Since I get a lot of PMs from animation students I'm aware that there's a couple of people interested in these! The wallpaper you see here is compromised of 4 layers. For the final animation I tend to export a few more to have additional control, but for this one, 4 layers where enough to properly build the image.

The first layer includes the environment pass, as well as Zoe without her elaborate fur shading. It's important to already include a basic version of Zoe here, mainly to show her influence on the environment in form of shadow casting, reflections, etc. The second layer then is an isolated render of Zoe alone, minus the environment. Since rendering both the environment and Zoe with her elaborate fur will crash the graphics driver, I've separated the workload by splitting up the image. Since the second image includes an alpha channel (I recommend Tiff 16 or 32), you can basically put the second image onto the first and get the same rendering result as if you did everything in one pass, minus your graphics cards dying. The same is done for the volumetric pass, which is put out by using a different renderer. Since there's no inclusion of fur, I have to use the depth pass to get a proper cutout of Zoe that suits the volumetric light. The same depth layer is then used to apply depth of field, but the layer is useful in a number of ways, as you can also add additional fogging through it, given you need a bit more depth in your final image!

Take me out? - Zoe Wallpaper

Sun Mar 17 19:16:03 2019

Here's a little wallpaper to give you guys something while I'm still animating! This image is loosely tied to the animation progress, as I've been experimenting with a new alpha layer rendering method where I separate Zoe's fur from the rest of the environment to work around computational limitations, especially with this animation being more demanding than ever in terms of rendering resources. Zoe's fur has significantly increased in density throughout the recent animations, and things have eventually reached the point where Zoe alone can fill up the entire 8GB memory budget of my current graphics card, which is due to the expensive character lighting I'm using on her model. To avoid crashing the graphics driver I'm further splitting up the rendering layers, which at the same time allows for her fur to rock almost twice the density of previous films! Yay, optimizations! :D

New playblast will be posted around the end of the month! Will have to travel for a couple days in early April, but I'll bring a fairly competent laptop with me to stay on schedule. Currently animating the last third of the film, which includes quite a few nommy scenes! Thank you guys so much for your patience and sticking with me through this elaborate process, I want to make sure to give you something you can treasure for quite a while! ;w;

Render Target-ish

Fri Mar 1 14:00:01 2019

As always, here's a little preview at how the animation's final quality could come out! Note that some effects such as volumetric lighting are still missing, while some other effects are improvised to get this out in a timely manner, means that the final result is likely going to look a bit fancier! For now though it should serve as a solid preview of what to expect! In terms of progress I'm currently at the 1-minute mark, still have a long way to go though regarding the animation!

Giant, evil, villain - Playblast

Mon Feb 18 14:14:48 2019

Felt like I owed you guys a follow up to that last cliffhanger, so here we go!

At last, there's lighting! I wouldn't say it's final just yet, but it should certainly be enough to get the point across! Now I only have to make sure I don't completely spoil the entire animation with these playblasts. To prevent doing so I'll try to reduce them to maybe once a month, which I hope is still enough to keep you guys updated!

Despite already getting close to the 1-minute mark, there's still a long way to go with this, as we're just moving to the more teasy things! I'm still working hard to get everything done in a reasonable time frame and cancelled an upcoming trip to have a little more time to focus on this. This might be the most elaborate animation I'm doing yet, and I want to make sure it ends up being everything you hope for! <3

And since there's light now, here's an updated version of a recent playblast as well!

Unusual for a girl - Playblast

Tue Jan 29 18:54:01 2019

Here's a new playblast showing some more of Zoe's monologue in the first part of the new animation. I've been grinding hard this month to get the most complicated sentences done, with most of the challenge being Zoe's expressions and getting them right while she's talking. The head movement in the last sentence gave me such a hard time that I actually needed a few references for it, but I think that in the end it came out properly. I'm slowly starting to realize why most solo artists resort to text bubbles or no dialogue at all, as properly animating characters babble is quite exhausting.

Note that lighting still isn't set up yet, but I'll most likely get there within the next month, so you might see it within one of the next playblasts. We're also slowly moving to the more teasy bits before eventually approaching the nomming. The scenes I've planned are quite elaborate, here's hoping I get everything I've planned done for the film in a timely manner, especially with work getting quite intense again in the next months. ;-;

But-blast.gif

Just as large as an action figure (Rough Playblast)

Tue Jan 15 23:17:09 2019

Here's a new playblast, right from the first person perspective outside of the glass! Don't mind that weird strand hanging from Zoe's thumb, will have this removed later! (:

This clip should illustrate that with this animation I'm moving from implementing small voice clips, to full voice acting throughout the entire animation. I've been planning on doing something like this for a while, but have often shied back from it due to the lack of experience with animating lips. Having learned a lot from the previous animations though, I feel that I'm finally up for the task, even if animating these sections feels painfully slow to the massive amount of keyframes that have to be used. Note that lip movement is completely hand animated and takes quite a lot of tweaking and revising until everything feels right. The payoff feels rather satisfying though, with Zoe appearing more alive than ever in this. Here's a slow motion sequence from another angle to show that both lips and tongue are animated to form the necessary vowels and consonants (First person model removed for clarity).

There's quite a lot of monologue to animate, but it will all contribute to the teasing, of which there's going to be quite a bit later on! The plans I have for this animation are quite elaborate, so here's hoping I can pull it off in a reasonable time frame. Should it end up taking any longer than the usual time then I'll probably freeze payments for an additional month or so, as this time I'd prefer not scrapping any scenes from the animation, something that sadly happened in almost all of the recent works due to time constraints.

Now-look-at-this-mess.gif

Happy New Year!

Fri Jan 4 09:36:43 2019

A bit late, but I hope you all had a lovely transition into 2019 and were able to celebrate it with your friends! It's been a bit stressful here due to some traveling that is still ongoing for a bit, but nevertheless it was quite good. As always, thank you guys so much for the amazing ongoing support, I'm quite happy to see this patreon running for such a long time already, especially with how unsure I was about it when first starting out! (:

I admittedly didn't get as much work done as I hoped to during Christmas and the holidays, I'll however be back home around mid-January and be relatively free from there on, means I'll try crunching 12h work days into the new animation and make up for the progress that was missed during the holiday season. There's quite a lot to animate, especially in terms of voice over for Zoe, but you'll see about that later this month. Quite excited to do this since I believe it will add another layer to character, just need to make sure the execution is good as well. Expect some more WIP material in 1 - 2 weeks!

You're awake - Early Playblast (No lighting)

Fri Dec 14 13:06:29 2018

First playblast for the new animation, for those curious what it's going to be! This was originally based on a Patron's idea, which has been altered a bit to allow for a little more interaction! It might be hard to make out from this clip since there's no effects or lighting, but the prey is actually captured in a glass! There's once again going to be a decent bit of voice over in this one, so far the most I've planned for an animation, here's hoping it's going to make Zoe as alive as ever for you~

The animation is still in a super early state, but I'll keep posting tests throughout the upcoming weeks to show its progress! Right now I'm still facing a few technical issues that are mostly related to properly rendering the glass with refractions. As I'm using a rasterized renderer, refractions are based on what's visible within the screen space, and with the object covering most of it, you'd often get a lot of artifacts. Guess this is where raytracing would come in handy, ha!

TV Night - Mini Animation (HDR/4K/60FPS)

Mon Dec 3 18:59:40 2018

4K/60FPS/HDR: Link

At last, here's the mini animation with wide color gamut and high dynamic range! It's a bit of an experiment right now since I know that not many people own an HDR capable display at this point, it should still future proof these animations and make sure that high tier patrons get these new films at the highest possible quality standard.

You'll likely need the latest version of VLC player to playback this file properly, also make sure to have the latest version of Windows 10, as one of the recent updates tremendously improved the HDR support. If you're on an HDR panel, make sure that HDR and WCG are turned on in your display settings! If your HDR device is a modern TV, then you can also just toss the file onto an USB drive and play it directly from there! I did the color mastering on a fairly capable OLED panel and can't really tell how it's going to look like on other panels, so feel free to leave a comment regarding that!

Note that the brightness levels and colors will probably look funky if you're trying to view this on a non-HDR panel, for regular color spaces I'm recommending the non-HDR versions!

TV Night - Mini Animation

Sat Dec 1 15:29:49 2018

Here's another mini animation with Zoe having a typical night! I never really used the night time lighting for the apartment before, so here's finally a small animation that makes use of it! There's quite a large amount of deformers going on here, which ultimately ended up taking the longest time to animate. Zoe's weight basically had to bend the cushion down in a somewhat believable manner while at the same time the couch had to slightly deform her tummy as well, rather than just clipping through it. Despite liking the pose, animating it was a bit out of my comfort zone, nevertheless I might use it again in a larger animation at some point! (:

New mini animation in roughly 24 hours!

Fri Nov 30 21:54:20 2018

Apologies for running a little late this month, just got home from a lengthy flight and probably need another work day to finalize the new mini animation. Render time was quite over the usual budget this time, since the scene lighting was done with the new RTX card in mind, which pretty much bailed on me earlier on. Despite all this I've still managed to bump up the quality a bit, with the biggest novelty being that this animation is being rendered in HDR10 format! I'm still experimenting with encoder settings, so the HDR version might not be included in the initial release tomorrow, but I'll make sure to post afterwards. Note that even the regular non-HDR formats will benefit from this, as I've always rendered these animations at a rather low color depth of 8-bit, which caused a lot of color banding in the darker animations. Of course this is a bit of a field test for the upcoming larger animation next year, hopefully by then I'll be able to increase my GPU horsepower to further increase visual splendor a bit!

Couch squeeze - Rough preview (No lighting)

Tue Nov 20 00:12:01 2018

This probably has always been one of my favorite poses, so I finally wanted to get around of animating it! This admittedly turned out a bit more difficult than I thought since the full body contact to the soft pillows of the couch requires a lit of deformation, which currently isn't animated yet! In general everything you see here is pretty rough, with animations for her hands, tail, and a few other things still missing. This rough animation should give you a good idea on what to expect in a few days, though! (:

November Mishaps

Mon Nov 12 12:57:05 2018

Hey everyone! As usual, I want to start by saying thanks for all your amazing support! While people told me that I should get used to it, I still find myself quite overwhelmed with the amount of patrons and their feedback!

For this month I'm working on another mini animation to be released by the end of it. The usual purpose of these is to break up the slow pacing of the big animation releases a bit, as well as serving as a buffer to prepare the next big thing in the meantime, of which I'm hoping to have the first WIP material ready after mid December. In the meantime I've faced a bit of an incident with my workstation laptop suffering water damage from a recent hotel stay. However, after getting a replacement battery it all booted up fine again, this was a bit of a relief as otherwise I'd have been forced to take a short hiatus from here due to me still being away from home. Speaking of which, I'll still mostly be in LA until early December binge working on a project I'm not supposed to talk about, so I might still be a little slow to reply to messages. Animation progress here shouldn't be hindered by that though, as I usually extend my working schedule into the nights to stay on top of everything!

In an effort to increase visual splendor while also cutting down on rendering times, I threw some money at NVidia for an RTX 2080 Ti! I was able to hook it up through an external graphics port and the card ran well on first try, which mostly consisted of pushing it through a number of benchmarks. On the second day of usage though, I started experiencing strange screen artifacts coupled with frequent boot issues. I've looked up the issue and noticed there's quite a lot of problems with this card on the GeForce forums (https://forums.geforce.com/default/board/227/geforce-rtx-20-series/), which is why I'm considering getting a refund for now, as getting a replacement for this card would end up taking forever due to it not being available anywhere right now. Looks like I'm still having to rely on my mobile GTX 1070 for a while to get the job done for now, but here's hoping that in the meantime NVidia will fix the issues with the 2080 Ti, as I'd prefer rendering the next major animation on a more powerful card with more VRAM.

New mini animation preview is still taking a few days as it currently looks too rough to be shown, even for a preview. I should have more on that in the next post whatsoever! :)

Tummy Hug - Mini Animation Loop (free version)

Fri Oct 26 10:21:59 2018

Just finalized the new mini animation and thought I'd still posted here before finally heading to bed! Here's another mini animation that has Zoe showing of a rather shapely tummy! What or who she ate can be completely up to the viewer! Maybe it might even be the viewer struggling inside her tummy? Either way, I need sleep! :D

Also, it took a decent amount of effort, but this loop is perfectly seamless! All physics based elements included!

October Mini Animation - Playblast (No Lighting)

Tue Oct 16 21:11:00 2018

Here's a small preview for the upcoming mini animation for this month! Since the next big animation is going to be POV related I'm trying to get one or two mini animations out to have a bit more tummy related samesize work in between! Planning to have this one finalized by the end of the month and jump right to the next one, might be slightly slower than usual since this time of the year is heavy on deadlines, but a few over nighters should fix that! :D

Zoe Noms the Night - Free Version

Mon Oct 15 09:17:54 2018

And here's the free version!

This was originally planned as a much smaller in between animation, but somehow ended up with a longer run time than the most recent animations posted. After the recent films being more samesize oriented, this one goes back to the frequently requested mawshot and tiny content that I used to start with. I admittedly feel like it's been getting a little formulaic, which is why I'll probably do something more experimental with the next animation. For this one though, expect a bit of a mawshot and cartoony swallowing gallore!

As always, many thanks for Hestia042 for lending Zoe her charming voice! https://www.patreon.com/voiceofHestia042

Zoe Noms the Night - Alternative Angles (1080p)

Thu Sep 27 21:28:00 2018

At last, here's the alternative angles from the recent animation! Since the runtime of the film is pretty long I had to nail it down to the most interesting scenes to get everything done in a timely manner! The upside of this is that I could render these sequences at a native 60FPS, which works perfect for any slow motion sequence! I've made sure to include every scene at half speed with additional frame interpolation to keep things at 60FPS, this is also so people can slow them down even further without experiencing stuttering. Will probably have to toss over 1000 bucks into one of the new Geforce RTX cards and see if they're fast enough to actually render these films in true 60FPS in the future. But then, I might prefer using the increase in performance to further improve the visuals, we'll see!

The film includes 4 angles, all of them much closer to the action than the original ones. In addition to those, I've added an unfinished POV sequence that was originally scrapped since I wasn't quite happy with the result. I'd have had to make some changes to the animation and re-render the sequence, which would have pushed the bonus content out into next month, sadly that wasn't much of an option, as I want to move on to the next animation as soon as I can.

For now I'm hoping you're enjoying these alternative angles, I'll make sure to have some new content in the upcoming month! (:

Alternative cam previews!

Mon Sep 24 23:53:35 2018

Here's a preview for the alt cam angles, which will be finalized in 2 - 3 days! These will come with slow motion sequences since they've been rendered at true 60FPS, allowing for some pretty smooth slowdowns of each sequence! I've rendered these with slightly reduced details to cut some time, this mostly comes down to reduced fur density/shading, lack of volumetric lighting, as well as no floaties. Luckily none of these missing effects affect Zoe's in-maw shading in any way though, which is pretty much the focus of these sequences!

Backpedaling regarding the PM system

Thu Sep 13 19:47:55 2018

After not doing anything but replying PMs for the recent hours, I've eventually realized that I'll probably do this for the rest of the month unless I go back to making posts that can accessed by everyone again. I remember briefly announcing that early access films will likely be given out via PM in the recent months to prevent leakage, but I guess it was easy to overlook, so we're going back to the old method for those that just missed the train.

Seeing how enraged some patrons were about the new PM method I'm somewhat uncertain of whether I should use it for the future. While this is a fairly common method that animators use to distribute content here, I've always been a little more liberal with putting my links directly into the the posts. This has come with the issue of animations often being leaked just a few days after their initial release due to web scrapping sites, or frequent pledge and running. I might have been a little too optimistic about everyone being aware of this new PM distribution method, maybe I should have made a post last month to remind everyone that I was about to try a new system. For now I'll apologize and just keep the system as it is!

Zoe Noms the Night (4k Version)

At last, the new animation is done!

In terms of quality standards I'd say it's moving on the same level as the recent RAADD animation, the visual improvements are fairly minor and are mainly related to small changes in the materials of the characters. There's however a bit more environment complexity with improved leaf shading and generally more foliage on display in the surrounding area. Note that this is likely going to be the last time I'm using this forest environment, as reusing it for the 4th time is making the animation feel a little samey. The prey girl from the recent animation was more or less just intended as a short, special guest appearance, but I somehow kept adding more scenes to the animation until she became a sort of finale in this. Needless to say she'll likely be used for the last time as well, unless I decide to give her a complete, visual makeover at some point!

The animation clocks in at roughly 2:30! I probably cut a few seconds off in the editing process, but I think it's still a reasonable length, especially considered the rendering quality on display. I'm still working on the bonus content, likely posting it in 1 - 2 weeks since the rendering is taking a decent while to finish. For this I'll take the more interesting mawshot scenes and render them from a different perspective at a true 60FPS frame rate target. This will include slow motion shots, so hopefully something to look forward to! In addition I might post the current animation in a new, experimental quality tier I'm considering to include for future animations, this would be 4k videos in HDR format. I know that there's probably only a small amount of people owning HDR capable displays, but it's slowly becoming more widespread, especially with one of the recent Windows 10 updates substantially improving HDR support for PCs.

As previously mentioned, this time the links will only be sent to patrons that have been processed to the corresponding tier at least once in the recent months. The recent leaks have pushed me to become a little stricter about my distribution methods, which is why high quality links in posts here will only unlock after the public version of the film has been released as well. The PM links will be sent out within the next hour!

Edit: After being buried under PMs, I've eventually decided to make links available within these public posts again one last time.

Final Render Previews

Wed Sep 5 16:20:21 2018

As always, here's an image strip of a few totally-not-cherry-picked render shots that represent the final quality! At this point I'm about 95% done with the post production and will move to sound design and music tomorrow. I'm hoping to have the first version of the animation ready in the upcoming days, likely end of the weekend/early next week. In terms of raw rendered frames we're looking at 2 and a half minutes of animation, which is about a minute longer than the last film. Doing everything on the same quality standard, if not higher has been quite a marathon. I think for the future I'll likely have to find ways to streamline the production of these animations a little, as the recent weeks have been quite the crunch!

Thanks to all patrons for their patience in the meantime, hoping to post this beast as soon as it's ready! (:

Render Playblasts (Not mobile friendly)

Fri Aug 24 01:22:29 2018

Rendering the new animation is coming along quite nicely, so here's a new preview, showing previous playblasts at semi-final quality! The last two scenes, and the entire volumetric light pass are still being rendered right now, making this the heaviest animation since the Halloween one with roughly 20 scenes, each split up in 5 - 8 passes, coming in in around 10K frames total! I actually ended up renting a GTX Titan and set up a second PC, since I knew I'd otherwise have to wait for 2 months for this to be rendered. Oh well, guess we've officially reached the stage where the rendering load has to be handled by multiple PCs. D:

Note that the quality is still not final! Will still have to implement the volumetric lighting pass, as well as the entire post production, means we're going to see another significant step upwards from the current quality! There's also no motion blur in these playblasts, means the movements can look a little sterile.

Oh well, I'm actually out of text to write and didn't want to ruin the layout by having the last two images not separated by text, so here's a completely useless line!

Rendering!

Wed Aug 8 18:53:54 2018

Here we go again! Slowly getting started with rendering, following by post production in the next weeks! The current heatwave only makes it possible to do so in short bursts, but it looks like it will finally be over in a few days, so my PC can get to the heavy lifting soon! I'll post updates, including render playblasts soon, so stay tuned! (:

Cheeky Gulp - Polished Playblast

Wed Aug 1 07:52:24 2018

And here comes the polished animation tests! I'm currently refining all the scenes and moving slowly towards rendering. I'd say that the first scenes should be ready for rendering early next week, which is a little later than for what I had hoped. For this animation whatsoever I'll start rendering on one PC, while still animating two more scenes on a laptop to use the time a little more efficiently. It's quite a lengthy animation, so I'm trying to cut corners where ever I can to avoid any significant delays.

I'll try to post another polished playblast this weekend to keep you guys updated! Thanks so much for your guys patience! (:

Here's also the old playblast for comparison: https://www.patreon.com/posts/19430421

Last struggle - Playblast

Wed Jul 18 09:06:19 2018

Figured it's already been more than 2 weeks since the last playblast, so here's another one! The scene is probably a little underexposed, but I'll fix that later! I might also chose a more close up perspective for this scene to get you guys a little closer to the action, but I'll decide on that later!

The animation is coming along well as I'm slowly approaching the last scenes! I might end up starting to render the first scenes on another PC soon, while I'm still animating on another one to make better use of the time, as there's quite A LOT to render here. Not just in regards of frames, but also in terms of scene complexity. I had assumed that by now NVIDIA would've at least announced new GPUs, but with nothing official in sight just yet I'll have to try budgeting everything to render on my current setup in a timely manner.

In the meantime, enjoy this little animation test! Apologies for Zoe's face being a little low poly, needed to make sure everything renders quick to keep the workflow up! :)

Mlem! - Playblast

Fri Jun 29 17:49:33 2018

Here's a pre-visualization (wow, fancy word~) of another scene, this time rendered more properly. I'm still a little uncertain about the second scene, as the lighting still needs a lot of work. Might end up using a different renderer for that specific angle, but that will likely be dependent on NVidia still releasing new GPUs before I finalize the animation and start rendering, which should be around early August! I feel like there's still a lot of room for pushing the visuals, but I'll focus on that in the last phases of the animation.

Still a decent bit to animate, but I'll make sure to keep you guys updated! (:

Cheeky Gulp - Rough Playblast

Wed Jun 13 17:23:49 2018

Here's another work in progress look at the new animation! I must apologize for the poor rendering quality in advance, as I'm currently traveling and only packed a lightweight laptop, means I had to render this through its onboard graphics chip, which really struggled with some features. For this playblast I had to remove some vegetation and turn off all the shadowing, which gives everything a rather last gen look. There's also a lot of textures missing since I left my texture hard drive at home as well, kind of the reason why Zoe's pants are completely white. Nevertheless it should still show the animation quite decently, even if it's still missing some fine tuning and a few things like bulges and deformations!

I'll make sure that the next previews will be rendered with all of those features on again, for now I just brought a minimal setup since it's more than enough to animate on. Will post more progress soon! (:

Loomy Zoe (Early Playblast)

Thu May 24 22:39:00 2018

Very much an early playblast of one of the first scenes, which has Zoe slowly looming over a rock. Apologies for her looking a bit rough at the moment, long time patrons probably know that I'm always using low poly models while animating since they're easier to handle for the CPU. Lighting on her isn't final as well, and the environment is still pretty static, which currently makes it all look a little stiff. Needless to say were still in an early stage of production, for now I just wanted to give everyone a first glimpse!

Nightly Forest Pass (Concept Render)

Wed May 16 10:20:57 2018

Oh look, fireflies! Haven't seen those before!

A bit of a lighting study for the upcoming animation! The forest pass is getting one last swan song with this nightly scene, in which Zoe will be going around nomfing fireflies, and maybe something else~

This concept took quite a few approaches, as the scene kept turning out way too dark and contrasty in the first attempts. Once I started playing around with volumetric lighting things looked a lot better though! I'd almost say it's going to be a substantial part for this animation, so there's going to be quite the post production pipeline once I move to rendering. Note that the WIP playblasts that I'm going to show during animating won't feature any volumetric lighting, as I need to render this effect on a separate layer, means they're not going to look as fancy as this scene right now.

Here's still hoping that NVidia releases their upcoming GPUs soon, as it would allow me to bump up the quality once more. I still think the scene could use a bit more foliage detail...

Video Library Update

Tue May 8 08:21:39 2018

Quick note that I just finished updating the video library with the recent 2 mini animations. This update also includes an alternative version of the recent maw gif with blue flesh, which I've also added to the original posts! New patrons that also missed the high quality version of the first gif can now download it by accessing the video library located on the left side of my Patreon page!

Big thanks to everyone for their ongoing support! The new animation's scene is still being prepared, but I should have something to show sometime next week! (:

In-Maw Mini Animation

Thu Apr 26 01:40:19 2018

Here's what's probably a bit of a small surprise animation! I've spent the recent time investing in a newer version of a renderer I've been using, mostly with the plan to push visuals a bit further for future animations. After a lot of tinkering I sadly had to revert everything to the old version, as there were some substantial problems such as a vastly increased rendering time for what was basically the same visual outcome. I might have to get back to it once NVidia releases new GPUs, as the implementation of new features is quite promising. For now though I'll focus on the next larger animation, which has been coming along a little slow. To compensate for the wait I've prepared another small animation loop, which is basically an animated version of that inner mawshot from the light room picture set~

High resolution versions for higher tiers will be posted in a few minutes!

Putting this here a day earlier for $1 patrons! Here's a new mini animation that was started right after the recent, large animation. Clocking in at 18 seconds of run time I might have gotten a little overboard with this, but I'm sure people won't mind the longer duration!

Mawplay - Mini Animation (HD GIF)

Thu Apr 5 05:14:31 2018

Here's a higher resolution version of the gif that will be public later on. Originally this animation was rendered at 60FPS, but it was downsized to 30FPS, as it would've blown past Patreon's size limit otherwise. There's still some advantages here, even to the 30FPS version as the motion blur was rendered with twice the sample count, which definitely contributes to the animation's overall fluidity, especially smoothing out rapid motions.

Mawplay - Mini Animation (1080p/60FPS)

Thu Apr 5 04:58:47 2018

Here's a new mini animation I was working on since last month! Clocking in at 18 seconds of run time I might have gotten a little overboard with this, but I'm sure people won't mind the longer duration.

This is the first animation to be rendered at a true, native 60FPS! I might not adopt that to the longer animations just yet, as it showed me how much more of a production effort it is to render and process that many frames, but it's certainly something I'm still considering for the future, especially since there's hopefully a new generation of GPUs soon!

As a little bonus I rendered out slow-motion versions of these where the framerate was slowed down to 30FPS, thought many patrons would appreciate that! <3

April

Sun Apr 1 15:28:00 2018

No worries, no jokes!

First off, apologies for the slight delay of the new mini animation! I went a little overboard with it and somehow made it 18 seconds long, which might be a little much for a gif. This, combined with the slightly too ambitious idea of rendering the film at true 60 frames per second stretched out rendering time quite a bit, as it made the frame count result in over 1000 images total. However, rendering has mostly been done and I'm already doing post, the animation should be ready for posting in 2 - 3 days! I'll try to post a fancy slow motion version of the clip as well for the higher tiers, as I think mawshot enthusiasts will appreciate it! <3

Mawplay Gif - Lighting Update

Thu Mar 22 15:16:00 2018

Little progress update on the mawplay animation, this time with lighting! Phew... I feel like this has gone a little out of hand, as the animation is already 16 seconds long, which is already a little lengthy for a gif animation. Despite the overlength I might end up rendering this at native 60FPS, as I feel like this will look awesome in slow motion. Rendering might take some time though, as this would result in over 1000 frames, yikes (last animation was around 2800).

Anywho! Will decite on the rendering later, for now here's an update~ <3

Mawplay Gif - Mini Animation Preview

Here's a super early preview of a new gif animation I'm working on, which has Zoe doing a bit of a tease with the viewer's hand! I've always shuddered when I had to animate hands, so I'm trying to become a little more aquainted to it, and what better opportunity would there be than to have Zoe being the driving force behind it~

This animation will have Zoe's room as environment, imagine it as the mawshot wallpaper I have, but animated! c:

RAADD Animation 3 - Free Version

Thu Mar 8 02:03:57 2018

Releasing this already leaked animation, everyone act surprised!

The final nom is upon us! Here's the last part of the RAADD animation series, this time featuring some long requested samesize, or near samesize gobbling! This new film was quite the challenge since samesize from a third person perspective was a bit of a new thing for me. Zoe needed to be given another set of upgrades to allow for such, as her deformers weren't meant to stretch this far. There's some new graphical features too, mainly the full implementation of volumetric lighting, something that I might use again in future films, probably a little more sparingly though!

Clocking in at over 90 seconds, this animation marks the longest one in the RAADD series, it's most likely the most elaborate too as there's a larger amount of scenes compared to the previous scenes. Animation wise I've upped on dynamics as well, including subtle breast and belly sway, as well as impact wobble and proper deformation, which has entirely been hand animated.

Video loading might be slow during 48h of the video release, or not since everyone has seen it already. :D

Content Distribution Changes

Tue Mar 6 10:34:00 2018

Beware, it's one of those boring management posts! D:

In response to the recent leak of the latest animation I'm feeling like I'll have to make adjustments to the content distribution system in the future, likely starting with the next animation. Instead of putting the links directly into the posts, I'm now planning on sending out PM links to patrons that have been processed with the corresponding tier prior to release. Once the free version is out I'll add video links to the library, so all animations are still available for those that newly pledge here. There's always been a rather significant amount of patrons pledging and pulling back during animation releases, I frankly didn't bother too much about this, as the actual support has always been more than overwhelming, but seeing the content being redistributed and widely spread way before I can actually release it myself is forcing me to act.

I still take a fairly liberal stance on content distribution, means that everything else will remain the same. Animations will still get a free version release one month after the Patreon postings as usual!

Video Library Update

Mon Feb 26 10:46:36 2018

Just revamped the entire video library not just by updating it, but also by adding pictures and shortening some links for patron's convenience! This page accumulated quite a lot of content over time, so it should be also be handy if you're looking for an old animation.

If you're in the $10 & $15 tiers and higher you can access it by going into the "Posts" section of this Patreon page and clicking on 4k, or 1080p Video Library in the Featured Tags section on the left. All of the recent animations and gifs have been added in their high resolution versions! (:

Layered Fur Shader

Sat Mar 3 14:43:00 2018

Zoe's fur has seen quite a development since the first animation that featured her. Not only has the density of such increased significantly, her hair has also been getting thinner and less clunky over the years. This has primarily been thanks to better hardware since the density of her fur is mostly dependant on the limitations of the GPU I have currently available. I feel that constantly increasing the density alone wouldn't cut it anymore at some point whatsoever, which is why I've been starting to look into fur shading with multiple layers and passes.

Fur shading in the recent animations has always been a little too perfect, which is why I found it necessary to implement a second fur layer that adds longer hair of slightly brighter color to get a somewhat more irregular look. I'll eventually pair this with dynamics that will have her hair move just like her tail fur. At the moment this effect is just a little too heavy to calculate, but with future hardware upgrades this might finally become a possibility!

For now it's likely that future animations with all use this new layered shader, given I can squeeze it into the current render budget. Kind of looks like Nvidia is still taking a while to release their new generation of GPUs, so I'll have to see if I can squeeze this sort of detail out of my current card without crashing the renderer. I'll use the next animation as a sort of test run of this new technique, which will be a new short gif animation I'm planning to post by the end of the month!

Been wondering, did I ever show you what Zoe's back looks like?

RAADD Game Overs - Part Three (Camera 2/1080p)

Fri Feb 23 15:05:13 2018

And here goes the bonus angle! Phew... and with that we finish the RAADD animation triology! Was actually expecting the enemy these animations are for would've been finished way before I finalize these, but it turns out they might be going solo for another while. In any case I feel like these stand very well on their own and have hopefully provided some decent entertainment for everyone here during the past months!

Note that this bonus angle didn't enjoy the full render pipeline, as I skipped some render heavy features such as volumetric light, floaties, and one fur pass to speed up rendering time. It would've likely taken an additional week to render the animation with these effects, but I didn't want this film to bleed into March, as I'm planning to tackle some new stuff soon, but more on that later! Enjoy the bonus angle! (:

Bonus Angle Preview (Not mobile friendly)

Mon Feb 19 08:41:54 2018

The second bonus perspective that shows the recent animation out of completely alternative angles will be released in a few days! As last time, there's going to be a few POV angles in this. I ultimately decided to only use them more sparingly this time, as not all scenes worked well from the 1st person angle, even with heavy modifications.

There's a few tweaks made from the first angle version, which is mostly a slight reduction in render quality. Volumetric light, as well as floaties aren't present, while the fur is only rendered with a single shading pass. This was mostly done so I can release this version shortly after the first angle, as rendering would've taken another additional week otherwise. This slight cutback in detail was actually done in the other RAADD bonus angles as well, but I imagine it was fairly hard to notice.

The bonus angle will be out later this week! Once it's out I'll also send out the file links to all patrons who pledged in the previous months.

Render Playblasts (Not Mobile Friendly)

Sun Jan 28 22:36:19 2018

With each day we're slowly nearing completion of the new animation! Right now the post production is halfway done and I'm slowly nearing the color grading process. Once this last visual step is done I'll do sound/music before preparing the release! It's realistic that things will still take a week, especially with the sound design still ahead. This period is usually the hardest since I tend to work 24h to get this out as soon as I can, so apologies if messages on here are a little slow!

I've prepared a few work in progress sequences in the meantime, which are pretty close to the animation's final quality!

This new animation once again comes with highly elaborate CG visuals that have once again taken yet another step up from the recent films. Both lighting and shading are close to a studio produced animated film, including computation-intensive effects such as fur, subsurface scattering, global illumination with skylighting, and volumetric lighting as the newest addition in the render pipeline.

Getting all of this to render properly was once again quite the challenge, as keeping an overview of all the render layers has become more and more difficult with the addition of new features and effects each time. The current render pipeline of 6 layers is broken up into a base pass, an extra fur sample pass, an extra SSAO contact shadow pass, simple fog, Z-Depth, and volumetric light. Most layers end up being merged in a specific order, while others are used for further calculations such as depth of field.

In addition to that there's a few post effects that are added in post production, these typically include depth of field, glow, and often times animation specific effects such as heat haze (used for Zoe's breath), and occasionally lens effects. I've started abandoning the later whatsoever since I lately tend to prefer a cleaner, more pristine image. FXAA is often required as well, sometimes a TAA solution is also added to get rid of the last jagged edges. Each of the recent animations is natively rendered at a total resolution of 4096x2304 that includes 4xMSAA, which is absolutely crucial when rendering high frequency detail such as fur and hair.

There's a massive amount of deformers in this animation since there's so much interaction between the characters. The prey model's skin actually deforms under Zoe's tongue and vise versa, which wasn't quite easy to pull off. There's some slight discrepancies here and there with the occasional clipping that I didn't spot, but overall I'm pretty happy with everything. Personally I'd go back to re-render some of these shots, but there isn't always the time to go back, knowing that some patrons here are eagerly waiting.

Big thanks to all patrons for their patience! I'll do my best to have the animation out as soon as it's ready! (:

Rendering!

Tue Jan 16 20:51:02 2018

After a few additional days of optimizing work, today marks the first day of the rendering process! ETA is around two weeks, so here's hoping I'm able to wrap up the animation within that time. I'll keep you guys updated with new, polished playblasts in the meantime, most likely using the ones I showed earlier so I don't spoil the rest of the animation! (:

Target Render!

Sun Dec 31 21:46:00 2017

Here's a look at the render target for the new animation, just before the new year! Effects and shaders are all maxed out in this, volumetric light is implemented here too, but it's almost invisible in a static image, should be more prominent once things are moving though! As usual, the look might vary in the final outcome as this is only a quickly rendered concept. I tend to carefully tweak a lot in the final post production, so things usually end up looking a little fancier in the end!

Already want to give a huge thank you to all patrons for such an amazing year of support! Without you, each of these recent animations would've been impossible to pull off! Really looking forward to 2018 as I'm planning to further improve the visuals of these, hopefully giving the community something they can enjoy for a long time! (:

Happy new year everyone!

Last Gulp - Playblast

Mon Dec 25 05:01:34 2017

Here's the last seconds of our runner before Zoe gulps her down! Bulges are currently a little too round, will have to make them a bit more organic in the final version. There's also some minor clipping left over, but that will be sorted out as well! For now here's a little something for Christmas for you guys~

Already passed a minute of runtime, there's still a decent bit to animate though! From here things should go a little faster whatsoever since there's only one character on screen, oho~

Will make sure to post a target render before the end of the year to give an impression of the final film's look!

Romantic Trickery - Rough Playblast

Mon Dec 11 19:53:49 2017

After giving our character a bit of a mawing, Zoe decides to go for a kiss instead! It's followed right by another... OR IS IT?

Meant to upload this on Friday, but had an unexpected incident and was hospitalized for a short while. However, I'm trying my best to catch up on progress this week, will likely work through Christmas as well since I want this animation to be finalized soon. After a decent bit of teasing we're finally approaching the main part, so expect more on that soon! Apologies for Zoe looking a bit edgy in the meantime since these previews are only using low-poly versions of the characters!

Also just noticed there was an update to Patreon's payments, might post an update related to that in a couple of days and make some adjustments, still reading into it myself.

Actually... - Performance Playblast

Sat Nov 25 09:17:30 2017

Lately the priority of Zoe's performance has almost been higher than that of the nommy bits, as I've slowly been realizing that I'd prefer having what people feel like is an actual character, rather than "some kinda appealing 3D graphics". Having her talk a little more often has been on my roadmap for a while and this might be the first animation that slowly goes back to that idea. So far I've probably been neglecting it because it's a lot of work to properly key out every single word, the overall result though is highly preferable though, as it brings her so much closer to the wicked, cartoon-like villian I always imagined her to be!

Apologies for the sharp polygon edges, I always use low-poly versions of the characters while animating. D:

Lighting Playblasts

Wed Nov 22 01:28:24 2017

Here's the recent playblasts with proper lighting!

Note how Zoe's tummy reacts to the prey's head~

Of course everything is still in preview quality, but despite that it should already give you an idea of how this animation is going to look. Besides the dynamic bounce lighting this animation is going to feature volumetric lighting, as well as semi translucent shadow casting for objects such as leaves. I'm still working on the later effect, which will probably only be seen as a final render feature because it's quite performance heavy. I'll make sure to post at least a picture that shows the film at its final quality later on though!

There might be some slight changes to the lighting model, as I'm not 100% sure on the sun position yet. For now I need to advance more in animation, as I want to post another playblast before the end of the month. Note that all future playblast will include lighting as well!

Still a little slow with PMs, was struggling with a recent project deadline while trying to keep up with this animation. I'll catch up with everyone this week though! (:

Sluuuuuuuurrrrrp - Playblast (No lighting)

Fri Nov 10 20:05:08 2017

Here's another rough playblast that I feel like is decent enough for a preview here! Of course there's going to be a decent bit of teasing before Zoe gobbles up the player, can't just go at it right from the first second! This slurp took a bit of time to animate, with the difficulties mostly coming to the movement of her tongue. In the final animation there's going to be more deformations, including subtle skin displacement from the pressure of her tongue. For now here's a rough playblast though, sadly no lighting yet as I still haven't figured out which sun position is universally the most aesthetic looking one for this. I might get it done soon and repost this clip with actual lighting! Note that finger animation is also missing and some keys are still a bit rough as usual!

There's been a decent amount of private messages recently, most of them related to Patreon's new policies. For those who messaged me about this please check the previous post where I elaborate on this. Still having a bit of a backlog, but I'm slowly catching up with everyone!

Small note on Patreon's new guidelines

Sun Oct 29 22:59:57 2017

As many of you know, Patreon has changed some of their guidelines regarding adult content this month, which already had the content of some artists pulled. So far I can give you a bit of an all-clear signal that this account hasn't received any notes that deemed my content as inappropriate and asked me for adjustments yet, likely due to the absence of nudity and violence that goes beyond anything you'd see in a cartoon. I had a bit of a feeling this would happen at some point with the more graphical content out there, though I probably hadn't assumed it would happen that soon.

I'll keep you informed in case I receive any notes regarding this in the future, for now it's probably best to continue playing it safe and keep the lighter tone of my previous animations. I wouldn't want to jeopardize this account since it would be extremely difficult continuing these animations without everyone's support here.

Quick note aside, the new animation is coming along decently! Had to take a bit of a sidestep to do a revision on one of Zoe's controllers that kept glitching out, but I'm pretty much back on track and should have new WIP material for you soon! All recent happenings considered I'm second guessing if it would be a good idea to include digestion in this animation, even if it was non-graphical. Might have to resort Zoe just just ending up with a big, wiggly tummy and have the rest implied.

RAADD Animation 3 - First scene Playblast (No Lighting)

Tue Oct 17 04:58:43 2017

Here's a super early look at the new animation, mainly its first scene! It's almost a little too early to post this, but I already wanted to give you an idea of the size dimensions of these two characters. While this is going to be a samesize animation, the prey model is still going to be a good deal smaller than Zoe, still making her quite an overpowering opponent. Unlike in the recent two animations Zoe is actually going to talk, this time it's longer lines as well, probably going to be a little elaborate animating all of this, but I'm certain things will turn out well! For now here's a little snippet! There's no lighting for this preview as I haven't set it up properly yet, animation is also very rough still, with some elements like fingers and tail still motionless. Might take another while until the second preview as there's very little idle animation during the beginning, but I'll try my best to keep everyone updated! (:

Belly Wiggle - Mini Animation

Sat Sep 16 21:54:52 2017

Here's the finalized animation loop I showed earlier! This serves as a bit of a run-up towards the final RAADD animation that will include samesize vore, at last! There's a few new controllers for Zoe's belly, which should make it as dynamic as required for the purpose of this animation. I also used this opportunity to play around with evening-style lighting, making use of one bright sun spot with a lot of bounce lighting illuminating the scene from it. We also see some volumetric lighting in this since I want to make use of this in the new animation as well.

Until then I hope you enjoy this little animation! I'll make some final tweaks to Zoe before moving towards the new film. Once animating has started I'll hopefully be able to show some early playblasts! (:

September Mini Animation - Preview

Wed Sep 13 16:58:27 2017

Here's a preview to the mini animation for this month that will be posted in a couple of days! This small clip is mainly for testing out a few of her new controllers I've been adding to her in the recent weeks. These include first and foremost a belly deformer that is a lot more dynamic than the previous ones we've seen. There's some light physics involved too, means it can sway to the side, or move from impact, such as Zoe's hand hitting it as seen in this preview. It also allows for a much larger tummy in general!

Further additions include breast physics, at last! They'll mostly be hand animated and can't barely be seen in this video due to her mostly just lying down, but I'll make sure to make use of this in the next large animation! The last addition is another deformer for her maw, making it wider when she opens it for the purpose of samesize stuff.

Hoping to finalize this gif soon in the meantime, in terms of rendering we'll see sunlight falling through the window blinds and illuminating her tummy. Already want to use this to get a little more familliar with evening lighting and its orange color pallete!

Updates and Plans

Sat Aug 26 13:00:05 2017

The new animation is finalized, bonus content included! Today I'll send out the links to all patrons who have contributed to the early access tiers in the recent 3 months. Finalizing it took a decent bit of time due to elaborate post effects, we also went back re-recording a few voice samples, but for that everything is perfect now! Thanks to all patrons for their support and involvement in this, I couldn't be more thankful!

All files of the first camera perspective have been updated yesterday, the links were replaced with new ones, so make sure you access them either directly on my Patreon page, or in the messages I'll send out within the next hours. The free version of the animation will also be available in early to mid September, I'll make sure to post it here one day prior to the release everywhere else to lower the load on the video streaming server.

Up next we'll probably see another mini animation in preparation of the last part of the RAADD film series, I'll have to add a couple new controllers to Zoe so she's better suited for a same-size 3rd person film, this small animation loop will be used as a bit of a testing ground, means we're likely going to see her with a big, wiggly tummy! There's also been a decent amount of requests of having her naked and I'll have to see if that works out, so far the clothes were somewhat convenient since they occluded fur areas and lowered rendering load a bit, but I'll see what I can do! I certainly want to try pushing visuals a little further in the next film. If this works out is something I'll have to see, as this recent film already pushed my GPU over the edge in some scenes, resulting in a simple "Nope" from the renderer. There won't be any rain in this new film whatsoever, which will hopefully free up some resources again.

RAADD Game Overs - Part Two (Camera 2/1080p)

Thu Aug 24 22:26:04 2017

Here's the second version of the recent animation, experienced from different camera angles! In this version you can witness a decent part of the animation from the prey's point of view. Note that it isn't entirely POV whatsoever, as not all shots were working that from the eyes of our prey. For these ones I've chosen alternative 3rd person angles, as I wanted the viewer to see what's going on, rather them exposing them to a shaky mess of images.

Hestia was so kind and re-recorded all the voice samples with her professional mic! I'm quite happy with the quality of the sound now, definitely a vast difference to the previous version. Thanks a lot to the patrons who pointed this out, as this probably put the icing back on the cake! I'll update the already released first perspective as well once I've finalized uploading all versions of this film.

Alternative Camera Preview

Thu Aug 17 20:43:33 2017

Oh boy, this almost looks like GoPro footage...

Second version of the animation will be done soon! Took quite a while its time, mostly because there had to be a lot of tweaks being made to the actual animation for the POV sequences to work. There's going to be quite a few first person shots in this, even though it didn't work that well for every scene, for which I used alternative 3rd person angles instead.

Few effects missing here, mostly the breath and color grading, but that's currently being worked on!

And here's the new animation! This one is a continuation of the RAADD Game Over animation mini series where we see Zoe gobbling up the game's protagonist (or a look alike) in several ways! The environment stayed the same, only that this time it's raining, causing Zoe's fur to be all wet and shiny. While we saw Zoe enjoying herself in the first film, this one instead focuses more on internal shots, accompanying the poor prey on her journey down her gullet.

Unlike last time, Zoe's voice is provided by Hestia042 in this. She might be known to some for her vore audio clips over at Eka's. Her voice is a bit more sinister, which I thought worked extremely well with Zoe, but you can judge that for yourself!

Render shots preview

Sun Aug 6 20:15:48 2017

Note the revised lighting in the mouth scene, ohoho~

As usual, a few render frames of the final animation to bridge the last days while I'm doing sound design work. Hoping to have the film finalized and posted on the 8/8 for silly reasons, might be a day later, but I'm trying my best!

The first release will include the first camera angle, then 1 - 2 weeks later I'll post an additional angle. Still considering to make this one POV for a large part, but there are still a few difficulties that I need to sort out; one of them being too much movement and shakyness, which lets the entire thing feel like Cloverfield. I'll keep you posted with previews after the first version is out, so stay tuned! (:

Render Preview

Wed Aug 2 17:54:59 2017

First off, huge thanks to all patrons for the incredible ongoing support! Without your help I couldn't even invest a quarter of the time into crafting such visuals for you! <3

Post production is slowly approaching its final stretch, which enables me to show you a fully rendered preview! There's a bit of extra animation that I've done before rendering. I remember that a lot of people requested uvula movement in the recent months, this is finally happening in this film and will continue throughout the ongoing animations. There's some nice, steamy hot breath visualization as well, probably not as visible in this small gif yet, but in a few days the full animation should be finalized and ready for release anyways!

I'm doing some last post production touches and will approach the sound design afterwards. I'll post an image strip soon in the meantime, we're almost there! (:

Rendering!

Sat Jul 29 01:21:45 2017

Just a quick vocal update that I'm done with polishing all the animation and started rendering the film! A few scenes were already finalized, which should speed up everything a bit. Overall I'm expecting this process to only take a few days since the film is extremely well optimized, so hopefully I can show you another snippet soon before it will eventually be released. Currently pushing myself to have the film done in roughly a week, fingers crossed there aren't going to be any unforeseen obstacles in the meantime! Almost there~

Squish - Preview

Thu Jul 20 14:28:02 2017

Slowly approaching post production, so here's another preview! I'm currently animating the last scene, once that is done I'll do a bit of polishing and continue with rendering. I've already rendered some scenes over night to cut some rendering time, mainly the internal ones, which is why I can already show you a sneak peak of these here. Overall I'm pushing hard to still release the animation within this month, it might end up taking a few days longer though, since there's this a few intense scenes to render. Expect more updates soon whatsoever! (:

Stomach Animation test

Wed Jul 12 09:29:46 2017

Oh boy, haven't seen this in a while! Here's a new WIP of the stomach environment that's going to be used on this new animation! I first wanted to remodel Zoe's stomach for this one, but figured I'm already a little behind in terms of schedule, which is why I kept the old environment. Despite of that there are still some new things here! First would be the water, which now uses a more complex multi-layered shader that makes use of true refractions (rather than just blurring whatever is underneath it). The lighting is redone as well, after rewatching the previous films I found the previous one to be lacking in contrast a bit, which is why I went for a more artistic look here. The orange tint is supposed to suggest the heat a little better, further accented by the haze. The SSS shader for the flesh was given some attention as well, making it a little more translucent and softer looking.

In terms of animation process I just finished the entire throat scene, which came out at 10 seconds of length, making me almost hit the one minute mark with this. The biggest difficulty with these scenes is the size of the prey, making all the slick muscles stretch and properly positioning the camera, as this character almost fills up the entire environment. There's still a few scenes to animate, so I hope people bare with me just a little longer!

Stom-test.gif

Throat animation test

Tue Jun 27 09:43:30 2017

Here's an animated snippet of the throat, mostly to test how materials and such look in motion! This time the camera is a little further up and closer to the back of Zoe's mouth, with her stomach being a little further below!

Unlike the old throat model used in all previous animations, this one uses a complex SSS shader that simulates light translucency. Specularity and reflections have also been revamped to give a slick and fleshy appearance. The goal was to have an aesthetic look, rather than a realistic one, as internals often tend to look uncanny to me when approached with ultra realism.

Best of all, this shader and overall scene is incredibly efficient, with a single frame taking just a mere second to render at 4K resolution. Now if only the other scenes would render this quick! C':

Throat-animation-test.gif

Fleshy Throat Testrender

Fri Jun 23 21:11:11 2017

The new animation will have a few internal shots, for which I'm remodelling Zoe's throat as the old one doesn't quite match the visuals of these new animations anymore. Going to have a shot in which our prey gets squeezed through here after the swallow! This is somewhat new since I haven't had a third person shot like this one in the previous animations yet, but stay tuned~

RAADD Animation 2 - Target Render

Tue Jun 20 12:02:27 2017

As with every upcoming animation I'm showing one frame that is fully rendered out at 4K, the highest quality settings, and all effects enabled. I remember that someone requested a high res version of the maw sequence, so here it is in its full glory! This hopefully shows that this animation will end up looking a lot different than the previous one, despite the same setting and characters.

Need to figure out what to do about the rain since it almost disappears completely in the depth of field, but I'll take care of that in the final render!

RAADD Animation 2 - Swallow Playblast (Drafty)

Mon Jun 19 17:37:57 2017

Here's an animation test that shows our runner getting gulped by Zoe. I already meant to post this a couple of days ago and already wrote this post up, but ended up scrapping it and reanimating the entire scene because I wasn't happy with it. To be honest I'm still not 100% satisfied with this sequence, but for now I want to move on and take care of this one later before I waste too much time on it.

You might notice there's already about 1200 frames, which comes down to roughly 40 seconds! Looks like this animation is going to be a bit longer than the first since there's still a lot to animate. It's likely that the next scenes will be a little quicker to finalize, as there's only going to be one character to animate, but I'll see how that goes. Either way, I'm hoping to wrap things up in roughly a month, given it's up to the quality by then! (:

RAADD Animation 2 - Inside Zoe's Maw Playblast

Sat Jun 10 06:00:31 2017

Ho boy, this one was difficult! This new preview shows the shrunken prey getting munched by Zoe quite a bit! The difficulty about these in-maw scenes is always making sure that the camera still gets a decent view at the action, which can be hard when everything's so close together. After all the prey model is a decent bit larger than the one I've used in previous animations.

Note there's no soft body deformation yet, which causes her arm, and other body parts to clip into the tongue. This will of course be addressed later on! Lighting will also get some small edits since it's just a wee little bit too dark at the moment. Can't give an ETA just yet since there's still a lot of difficult scenes ahead, I'll keep you guys posted with new updates though so bare with me! (:

RAADD Animation 2 - Grab Playblast

Mon May 29 16:50:20 2017

A second playblast of the new animation, finally with some lighting, but still heavily work in progress!

Here we have Zoe grabbing our poor runner, quickly stuffing her into her maw. Of course this is still just the beginning, muahahaha~

RAADD Animation 2 - Early Playblast (No lighting)

Thu May 25 10:57:13 2017

Here's a very early playblast of the opening sequence of the second RAADD animation! I'm still working on the scene lighting, which is why this playblast is entirely without proper lighting/shading. For the first scene it was important to get a certain sense of scale for Zoe, which is why I went with a close up, over the shoulder perspective. Still a few things that need work here and there. I'll of course keep you guys posted with new previews throughout the next weeks, until then here's a very early preview! (:

Rainy Forest Pass WIP

Wed May 10 18:18:51 2017

Here's a rainy version of the forest pass for the next animation! This was done on the base of the cloudy lighting study of this environment. Getting everything to look wet took quite a decent bit of additional work, this included puddles with a slightly animated water surface, shader adjustments for all objects, the rain itself, and some more animation to the foliage to simulate a bit more wind. I wanted to animate the grass as well, but stopped at this point because it ended up being a larger time investment than I first though, for now I'm focusing on the character animation! Stay tuned! (:

Wet Shader - Specular Test

Wed May 10 14:54:17 2017

Quick turnaround of Zoe to test the specular effect on the wet fur shader. I slightly exaggerated the effect for this preview so it sticks out a little more. For the animation it will be reduced a bit!

Wet_Shader_Spec.gif

Improved Wet Fur Shader

Mon May 8 12:51:08 2017

With the next RAADD animation likely taking place during rain it was probably obvious I'd be working on a new, improved wet fur shader for Zoe. The first attempt on that was when the character was first introduced. By now my knowledge of using my renderer has increased significantly though, which means that things are going to look a lot fancier!

The clumpy look is mostly achieved by significantly increasing the root thickness of her hair, darkening the materials does quite a bit as well. Fur specularity is fairly limited with the renderer I use, which is why it's only used slightly. I might find a better method later on, for now the shader looks believable enough!

May

Tue May 2 10:11:24 2017

Just an occasional text update to hint the plans for May! First off, Star Wars day is in two days, so here's a reminder! <:

Oh boy! Thanks to all patrons for their incredible ongoing support! It's an enourmous help, especially considered that I recently needed to invest into rather expensive hardware that is a bit more convenient for travel. To my own surprise I ended up getting a top tier laptop that's powerful enough to actually wipe the floor with my slightly aged Intel Xeon based workstation. While I'm all for desktops, getting a beefy laptop became a necessity due to the travelling that is related to my first job. This way I can do so without falling behind in my Patreon schedule here.

Speaking of which, the plan for this month is to focus entirely on the new animation and hopefully make enough progress to show a decent bunch of playblasts and WIP materials later on. Due to the new Geforce 10 series GPU in this laptop I'll be able to further bump up the visuals, which already could be seen in the recently posted mini animation that featured highly detailed character lighting. I might bring in rain to this new RAADD animation, which always makes for a visual treat, given the idea doesn't end up as too ambitious in the end!

Until then, stay tuned!

Mini Animation - Grape Play

Wed Apr 26 07:01:22 2017

Zoe feels a bit like you're watching her and can't help it~

Here's a little mawish animation. The original purpose was to test out Zoe's new eyebrow controllers that are supposed to make her far more expressive, but then things have gotten out of hand again! This is also the first animation that was entirely done on my new system, which surprisingly is a laptop. Despite being that it's far more competent than my desktop in terms of performance and allows for elaborate effects such as highly detailed lighting on Zoe in this scene. The more important reason for getting one of these is because I need to travel a lot this year, so this way I can keep working on content on the go without having to neglect posting here! (:

RAADD Game Overs - Part One (Free Version)

Sun Apr 23 14:17:48 2017

And here's the free version of the new animation! This time it's going back to the roots a little with a short clip that purely focuses on vore. With only a minute of runtime the animation is more in line with The Apartment animation in terms of length, but for that the quality is at its peak with both highly detailed animation, as well as an elaborate environment, render, and effects setup. Realizing these visuals in a way in which they didn't take years to render was quite a challenge again, so here's hoping you like this new film! (:

Huge thanks to all patrons for supporting the creation of this film again! Due to the elaborate support there's some fancy bonus content too, coming in the form of an alternative camera perspective for the entire animation!

See it here: http://cake.macrophile.com/RAADD1.html

I might slightly raise the 1080p quality later on. For now I've set the compression a little more aggressively to dampen the peak load on the video server and ensure smooth playback!

April Mini Animation preview! (No lighting)

Thu Apr 20 19:57:00 2017

Since the next RAADD animation is still progressing slowly I took a little sidetrack this month to do another mini animation in which Zoe toys around with a grape. After all we totally haven't had something mawy in a while ahahaha-ha-ha... ha...

Give it a few more days and it will be fancy! In the meantime here's a short performance test of it. No lighting, except for the eyes. Wanted to get sure I get the expressions right first. Some new facial controllers in this as well, including squishy cheeks and individually controllable eyebrow movement!

Final animation will be a bit longer, which is a lot for a short animation loop, so here's hoping I can still squeeze everything into a gif in the end! <:

Forest Pass - Lighting Study

Wed Apr 12 13:37:43 2017

The next RAADD animation will include some different lighting conditions to have a bit of variety and avoid that the animations look all the same. It's likely I'll be going for the cloudy variation for the next film, even considering a rainy scenery with Zoe's fur being all wet. Doing the shaders for this takes a decent bit of time though, which is why I'm not 100% sure. I'll update each environment when doing the animation either way, likely reconsidering light source positioning for each one until everything's perfect. I kind of noticed the plants were missing in the Dusk variation, which is due to me having forgotten to switch a render layer back on. The final version will certainly have plants of course! Also note that I've consciously left out a night time variant this time after noticing that a majority of my films play at night already. <:

Overall the start of the second animation is coming along slowly, which is why I'm preparing other content in form of a mini animation for later this month. I'll keep you guys updated! (:

Thank you guys!

Mon Apr 3 18:31:59 2017

First off, thanks so much to all of you for your incredible support throughout the recent months! I'm still uncertain if I'll ever get used to this, mostly because I thought doing a crowd funding-ish system to support the creation of these animations would never work. And well, I've never been so glad to be wrong! (:

Sadly I've totally missed the 1st of April and couldn't prepare anything silly since I'm already working on the content for later this month. It's likely better this way if I think about it. Anywho, for April I'll be working on the second RAADD animation! The first weeks working on a new film can be a bit slow in content delivery, which is why I'll see if I can squeeze in a mini animation somewhere towards the end of the month. For the next days I'm trying to get a fancy Zoe wallpaper ready that has her sitting in the treehouse environment at night. Shouldn't be too long until it's finished, so stay tuned!

RAADD Animation 1 (No Cutout Versions/1080p)

Fri Mar 31 10:33:37 2017

As requested, here's the first animation without cutouts! I only exported 60FPS versions of these, since encoding so many versions always takes a large amount of time. I've also merged all the files to a handy folder that can be accessed within Mega, this includes all versions, as well as the ones without cutout.

I think this wraps up the content for this month. I'll make a new post regarding next month's content soon, so stay tuned! (:

Internal Wiggle Loop

Thu Mar 9 10:33:27 2017

Here's a perfect loop of the stomach cutout that's being used for the animation. Stomach model had to be customly made since my other one wasn't working great with as a cutout. Though some of you would appreciate having a looped version of this~

Final Render Sequence

Wed Mar 8 10:00:13 2017

We're getting closer to the release! Right now I'm animating the stomach cutout for a later sequence, had to quickly model something new there since the stomach model I usually used wasn't really cutout friendly. Sound still needs to be done as well, so overall it will just be a few more days. Meanwhile here's a sequence that shows the final render quality in motion~

Note that the second camera perspective will be released roughly a week after I post the new animation. Editing the character and re-rendering the entire thing threw me back a little, therefore the bonus content is still taking its time to render.

The purple vixen might become a bit more Zoe

Wed Mar 1 03:30:48 2017

After going back and forth between various tests, I ultimately decided on using Zoe, as the purple color didn't sit too well in the scene. Overall Zoe's white fur ended up looking rather well with the ambitious scene lighting. Took a day and half a headache getting her hair and the other changes implemented, but in the end I'm much more satisfied with this result, as the purple version kept looking some cheaply applied fix that was implemented in the very last minute.

Either way, here are some fully rendered out frames, final quality and all! While progress is quite good, there's still a lot of frames I need to render, apart from that the cutout for her stomach isn't even animated yet, but I'll get to that once the rendering work is done. Still need to do sound as well, so it's safe to say it's still going to take a week at the very least. For that I hope that the final render quality on display here shows how much has been going into crafting these visuals, especially compared to those playblasts from earlier this month. (:

Renders.png

The blue vixen might become a bit more purple

Fri Feb 24 08:59:56 2017

After showing the recent target render around a bit, it's been brought to my attention that I might run into some issues releasing the new animation in this form, this is mainly related to copyright, as the blue vixen in the animation is still a little too close to a certain Nintendo character. After getting some advice and doing a bit of research on character copyright, I had figured out that I needed to make a few more substantial changes than to just change some tattoos, eye color, and accessories, as it would still clash with the expression of a blue vixen in a bikini and loincloth. As making significant changes in the clothing would heavily delay the animation's release, the easier fix seemed to be a change of her base color. The best compromise I could find was to go with purple, as it's the closest color to her original tone. Apologies for this late change, but I need to make sure I'm not making myself vulnerable to any sort of copyright infringements, especially since this Patreon has grown quite large and the content has many eyes on it lately!

Due to this there's a slight knockback since I need to re-render frames worth 2 days, there won't be any significant delay to the animation though! Apologies for the changes again, but I hope they're understandable.

Full render test from the new animation

Sun Feb 19 15:05:22 2017

Been posting quite a few animation tests throughout the recent weeks, which of course were all rendered at draft quality. With the animation slowly approaching the render phase I thought it would be nice to give a little preview of how everything looks fully rendered. Of course this is only a single frame, but I hope it already gives a taste of the final quality. Besides rendering out all of the effects I've done a bit of environment work as well, I've also applied a few minor tattoos to the blue vixen to give her a slightly different look without going overboard with the alterations there.

I'm using this weekend to do some internal tests and fix some render bugs that can occur in motion. Then tomorrow I want to start rendering the animation. Render time is presumed to be slightly over a week, despite the animation being rather short I'm rendering everything at the highest quality settings, for that the final quality should be pure eyecandy though! <:

Swallow Animation Test (Polished Keys)

Sun Feb 12 21:15:11 2017

Here's an animation test showing the polished keys, complete with dynamic elements as well. The changes from the first, rough playblast of this sequence are quite a few, including finger/hand animation, animated ears, advanced deformations with bulges, cloth sim, proper eye lighting with animated pupils, hair dynamics, animated foliage and subtle improvements in lighting/shading. Note that her body fur is still absent here, as it's too time consuming to render for a test animation. Her poly count will be upped as well for the final render, cleaning up on all the rough edges.

Overall progress is good! I'm planning to start rendering towards the end of the week. In the meantime I'm still tweaking a few things and do a bit of quality assurance. To keep you updated I'm planning on posting a target render that shows the full render quality with all effects enabled. Overall I'm aiming for a release early next month!

Also note that I've done a few tweaks to the blue vixen's design, mostly to be on the safer side. Might be doing a few more tweaks without butchering the aesthetics of the character, but we'll see! (:

2 Perspectives

Thu Feb 9 07:39:54 2017

As a little bonus thing for the upcoming animation I'll be rendering the entire thing with alternative camera perspectives that are a little closer to the action! Here's a first comparison of the two perspectives, with a decent angle from inside the vixen's maw. Note that the horrible png background there is just a placeholder at the moment.

Keys are already polished in this one, with her tongue reacting all squishy instead of clipping through the prey's legs. I'll show another playblast this weekend showing the polished keys, including bulges and cloth simulation. Shouldn't be too long before we'll move to rendering from there! (:

RAADD Mini Series - Early Playblast 4

Sat Feb 4 10:45:53 2017

Likely the last sequence showing the rough keys! Here's our blue vixen doing a bit of a belly dance! The scene will be supported by an inner tummy cutout showing the prey wiggling inside her. Still a few things that need to be animated/adjusted here. Gotta use to upcoming week to animate details such as fingers or bulges, also want to give ear movement a shot to support her facial expressions a bit. More following within the next few days!

February

Thu Feb 2 04:48:54 2017

After January passed by in what felt like a week to me, we're kicking off February with this boring wall of text! Animation progress is good and it looks like I'll have all the rough keys finished this weekend, which will allow me to progress with animating details/tweaking before making everything fancy! The runtime of the first animation will be roughly a minute, and despite the short runtime there's been a horrendous amount of work flowing into animating this, as the characters are on screen for pretty much 100% of the entire animation. I've planned to render two versions with different camera angles of the entire thing, as there are a lot of animation details that might be missed otherwise. Still having a hard time giving an ETA just yet, especially since this is going to double an otherwise relatively short render time, but guessing early March seems safe. Of course I'll keep posting new WIP material, with new stuff coming up this weekend!

Apart from this, the month's transition came with a pretty tough decrease of roughly 50 patrons who apparently submitted invalid payment information. After the last month was free I somewhat expected expected this though, even though I still haven't fully figured out if content access is either immediate, or only available post payment. I'm still considering switching to Patreon's pay-up-front-to-get-instant-access feature (I'm sure they named it differently), but I'm afraid that it would just hinder patrons that need to take a break for a month from coming back in. Therefore I'll keep the system as it is for now and just remove those that were flagged with fraudulent payment information. Despite the heavy decrease we're going stronger than ever, which is thanks to you! So here goes a thank you to all patrons, old and new; for their incredible support on here! (:

RAADD Mini Series - Early Playblast 3

Tue Jan 24 23:24:03 2017

Another low quality test render of the new animation. Rough keys only, a few things such as her fingers, or her tongue aren't animated yet, apart from that her face still needs a bit of work. No deformers either, there's going to be a bulge going down her throat later on when she swallows. For now I'm trying to do the rough animation work first and do the details later on!

Despite it still being rough this sequence was a lot of animation work. My goal was to let her do some sensual motions after she swallows, almost like a sensual dance. Of course this is going to look a lot better once all the missing dynamic elements are added~

RAADD Mini Series - Early Playblast 2

Tue Jan 24 23:09:22 2017

Well phew! Already meant to post this a little earlier, but the public release of the latest animation came with a lot of feedback and slowed me down a bit. Slowly getting back on track, so here's another early playblast, which is practically the first shot!

Notice that these are rough keys only, so at the moment the animation still needs some tweaking. There's no deformers or bulges, so the vixen's tongue is still clipping through her legs. Also need to do something about her panties, might actually just texture them only her since the clothing here isn't deforming very well!

Visuals are far from final off course, just an internal preview render. Will be posting another blast tomorrow as well, so stick around! (:

Zoe Noms U - Free Version

Wed Jan 18 08:50:46 2017

Already putting this up here and will subsequently release it on other public platforms one day after another to hopefully dampen the server load a bit!

Either way, here's the new film! Likely my biggest animation effort yet, at least in this community. Originally this was supposed to be a small Halloween special, but ended up as a 4 minute film. It's likely I'll focus on shorter films in the future though, as this pretty much showed me where the limits in my capabilities are. Having a job while running a Patreon isn't easy and can quickly add up to a 80h work week, I'm slowly establishing a decent balance though! Either that or I just got used to it by now.

Huge thanks for everyone at Patreon again for making this possible! There's a few benefits that directly flow into the free version as well. This includes a higher native framerate as a start. Previous films were all rendered and released at 25FPS, where this is the first animation natively rendered at 30FPS. Like the last animation, this one was also rendered natively in 4k, something the 1080p version also benefits from due to downsampling.

But enough of the nerd talk, here's the new animation! <:

Sharing Patreon Animations on Youtube and other portals

Thu Jan 12 15:01:59 2017

First off, I already know that I'm going to have a hard time writing this post and staying professional in my wording, but I'll try my best remaining objective here.

Most people reading this are likely aware that the Halloween animation is currently being shared by two smurfs on both Pornhub and Youtube.

Since this video is... was exclusive here on Patreon it's very likely that both are patrons and therefore might be able to read this. And while I'm thankful for their pledge I'm also frustrated, in fact so much that I'm rewriting this line for the third time to keep this post in a moderate tone. Taking animations and sharing them is one thing, but doing so with timely exclusive content is downright sabotaging this Patreon account, so let me put it officially.

I explicitly forbid any public redistribution on Patreon exclusive content.

Sharing Patreon content will harm this page on the long term. It's generally beyond my understanding why people would do this, but I'm going to take actions against those who share exlusive content. I already considered my methods generous since I always do free releases, but sadly there are always individuals that love the attention they get from this.

Sadly these video portals move slowly with my requests, which is why I encourage patrons to flag videos that are illegally shared through public sites if they see them. This would at least speed up the takedown process in most cases.

Free release of the new animation will remain the 19th. On a more cheerful note, first early playblast of the new animation will be posted on the 15th. *confetti*

1st RAADD Animation - Early Playblast

Wed Jan 11 04:33:05 2017

Here's a super early test clip of the next animation, reminds me of a certain scene from Dragonheart, ahaha~

Lots of work since there's two characters that need to be fully animated. Note that these are internal render tests and by no means represent the final quality, there's still a lot of work to do, but I'll keep you posted with new updates and tests! (:

Next up: RAADD Shorts

Tue Jan 3 04:21:49 2017

After things have cooled down a bit from the recent animation I'm finally able to announce the next animation! Or rather, animations!

The next project is going to be a series of vore animations, which will be based on the popular RAADD Runner game. Those who have played it might be familiar with a certain blue-furred endboss who eats the player in various ways, including one samesize and two micro variations. I want to focus on these three death sequences and planned to turn them into mini animations with an approximate runtime of 30 - 60 seconds each. Personally I think this is a better format to focus on for the start of the year, especially since I feel like the recent animation has been a little too long. These short animations could be released in a bi-monthly schedule whatsoever, perhaps even faster if there's no complications. But we'll see about that!

Throughout the recent week I've already worked on a new version of the blue vixen, this mainly included transfering over the changes made for Zoe, but there's a few other new features as well, such as a remodelled tongue, changes in fur, eyes, and other stuff. You can get a more detailed view on the model updates from an image strip I'm posting in a minute!

Note that from now I'll always refer to her as "Blue Vixen", which is mostly to avoid any copyright trouble. I've also made a few minor changes to some of her markings and patterns just to be on the safe side with everything! The environment I'm going to use for this will be the forest passage, as it was seen in a 4k wallpaper I posted here ealier. This cuts down a lot of modelling time luckily since the environment already exists for the most part and only needs a few improvements. In terms of prey model I'll likely use something simplistic, most likely even an open source female rig since the orange fox model will be completely out of place in this animation. Overall I'm hoping to have set up scene and characters within the next few days so I can already start animating. I'll keep you guys posted with frequent updates! (:

Also, if you're curious about the RAADD Runner game, then you can check it out here! https://aryion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=4156

Some (probably boring) Organizational things

Wed Dec 28 15:46:36 2016

Just a quick update before we're going back to the usual content here, already doing some preparatory work regarding that and will be making an announcement on that soon!

First off, thanks for the continued support everyone! I'm still amazed by the large amount of pledges here! Remember that this month will be free for all patrons though, so content access won't cost anything until the end of January! The free version of the Halloween animation will be posted on January 19th here on Patreon, with each new day I'll release it on the other platforms as well to hopefully dampen the server load a bit. Bonus sequences will likely be posted as gifs a little later next month.

With the surprisingly quick increase of patrons it's been getting a bit difficult handling the many messages, comments, and support requests that are coming in lately. Managing such a high quantity of patrons is quite difficult, which is why I've looked and asked around how other artists are handling their pages. Some were joint accounts, on others the artists had their girl/boyfriend helping out. But since giving someone else account access isn't recommendable and I'm as single as Voldemort neither of these are options. Either way, I'll have to figure out what to do about this, for now I already had to make a bit of a compromise by not messaging new patrons lately. Early supporters probably still remember that I always sent thank you messages and did some small talk. I love doing this, as I generally like to get to know the people that are supporting me, but I sadly needed to sacrifice doing so, as it wouldn't be possible running this page while producing content for it. However, I don't want anyone to feel discouraged sending messages to me here because of that. I'm generally a very social person and always find it motivating to read feedback or just exchange a few messages. Just allow me some time getting back to you! (:

There's a few recurring questions in most messages, which is why I've updated my page with a Frequently Asked Questions section. Feel free to request new questions that seem crucial to you, so far it only has a few questions that came into mind, but I'm planning to extend the section throughout the next months!

I'll be making an announcement on what's to come next soon! For now I can say that it's going to go back to the roots a little, but I'll reveal more on that in the next days!

Free Patreon Month (December)

Sun Dec 25 00:54:21 2016

With this post I announce that patron's accounts wont be charged here on the transition from December to January. There are a few reasons why I'm turning down payment this month, the most prominent one being the delay of the Halloween animation.

Despite my efforts I've been unable to deliver the recent animation in a reasonable time frame after the completion of its visuals. Granted, this taught me a lesson not to outsource certain production steps anymore. I've furthermore tried compensating the additional time with bonus sequences. But overall I felt that it wasn't sufficient, which is why I want to sincerely apologize to all patrons who have supported me with this.

I'm hoping this will reassure that this Patreon doesn't primarily exist to make any kind of big money, but rather to secure the ongoing creation of these animations. With films as ambitious as these there are sadly delays that can occur from time to time. Whether they are caused by a fried GPU (Happened during the Jackal animation), ludicrous fur render times, or outsourced labor. If they occur, then I'll always try to communicate them and keep people updated about the progress. For the future I've taken notes and can minimize certain delays by approaching things differently though.

All things considered, producing animations of this quality on my own is a task that requires both full time attention and often working overtime. However, should a really ambitious project take longer to produce than stated in the tier (max. 4 months), then I'll freeze payments until the animation is finalized, this way patrons aren't paying for delays. In general I'm always trying to find a way to make up for things if problems occur. And while the current pledge amount sure looks great, it seems to be of higher moral integrity not to take it this time, therefore this month is going to be free for all supporters! It's Christmas as well after all, I assume that this month has been fairly hard on everyone's wallets already.

Until early January, payments will be paused so patrons won't be charged during this month's transition. Things will then revert back to normal early this year. Merry Christmas everybody, I couldn't be more happy about your support! (:

Still waiting

Tue Dec 13 03:34:31 2016

Well! It's Monday and I still have yet to receive MonsterChow's sound design. I'm really sorry that things keep dragging on like this, especially since I had planned to have everything released by now. From what it sounded like he seemed to be pretty far in and it's soon done, so here's hoping the film will finally be ready to be posted before this weekend.

Things are taking a bit longer than planned and I feel pretty bad for keeping everyone waiting, for this reason I've started working on a second bonus sequence in form of another alternative camera angle. Here's hoping this will somehow compensate the many additional days of waiting time.

If I get this sequence rendered before the sound design arrives here then it will be bundled with the 15$ package right away. If I get the sound design before that, then I'll of course get the main film out first and post this additional bonus clip later on. I know the waiting is quite a stretch, but I hope that under this prospect you can bare with me for a few more days. ;-;

The Apartment - $10 Tier (Old)

Thu Dec 8 20:15:32 2016

With so many new patrons I've been having a hard time keeping up with sending out individual messages to everyone yet. So here's the now freely accessible download link for the previous animation The Apartment ($10 Tier), so new patrons have direct access to it.

The new animation will be posted in the same manner soon, since Patreon updated their pledging system. Nevertheless I'm still planning to sent out links to everyone to be absolutely sure everyone gets served! (:

Small update

Thu Dec 8 20:05:32 2016

Hey guys! Apologies that the new animation hasn't been posted yet. At the moment I'm mostly just waiting for MonsterChow to finalize the sound design, which should be fairly soon! Nevertheless I'll drop him a note in a few minutes to check the status.

In the meantime I already managed to finalize the bonus scene, which will directly be included with the $15 tier package. This bit of content will also be posted later on as a lower resolution gif, very much like the Slurp animation! In the meantime, here's a look at the animation's cover art.

http://cake.macrophile.com/anim_cover.jpg

Once I have the sound design I'll put everything together and do some final tweaking. From there it should be just a few more hours until the final release! (:

60 FPS in slow motion

Sat Dec 3 17:13:10 2016

Unlike in the recent animation, this new film comes at a full 60 FPS framerate. Admittedly, the 60 FPS versions are only interpolated from 30 actually rendered frames per second, but the interpolation tools I used are doing quite a good job. The main thought behind it was so patrons can put some scenes into slow motion, how that would look can be seen in this little gif!

Slowmotion.gif

Soon!

Sat Dec 3 16:24:36 2016

With the release of the new animation being just a few days away I wanted to make another post to provide some additional information. Apart from that I want to thank all patrons, old and new, for their generous support here! I'm still stunned every time I log in here, especially considered how quickly the support rose over the few months!

At the moment all visuals are done and I'm now rendering a slow motion bonus sequence, which is an alternative camera angle of the swallow sequence that was first considered for the film, but then scrapped for another more frontal perspective. Once I have Monsterchow's sound design I'll put it together with the still uncompressed image sequences.

For the first time I'm also considering to export the 4k version of the film in HDR, as the rendered source material was exported in 16-bit mode, rather than 8-bit like the previous animations. This would technically allow rendering the film in 10-bit HDR, or the even more visually appealling 12-bit Dolby Vision. If my video compressor will allow me that is one question, furthermore I'm not sure how many patrons have an expensive HDR display connected to their PC, but for now it's nice to this option available since it might become more relevant in the future. For a proper HDR mastering I'd first need to invest into an HDR screen myself to begin with, so at the moment it's mostly just a gimmick, as the only reason for the 16-bit export was to prevent color banding.

In terms of visual fidelity I consider this film another step up from The Apartment animation that was released a few months ago. There's a decent amount of new techniques to find here ranging from volumetric light fog, TAA for a much smoother image, as well as an increase in base framerate from 25 to 30 FPS. Zoe herself was given some little improvements such an additional specular pass for her pupils, as well as more dynamic saliva strings inside her maw. With the finalization of this model I'm already considering modelling a new character over the course of the next year. It might take a while until it will be ready for animation though, which is why it probably won't make an appearance in the next animations yet, at least not until it's on a similar standard like Zoe.

For now I'm mostly trying to work off my backlog of messages here. I have to admit that with almost 250 patrons supporting me I'm slowly having a hard time keeping up with all the comments and messages coming in on a daily base, which is why my response times have been a bit slow lately. I might have to see for a solution on that on the long run sometime soon! o.o

4k screenshots from the Halloween animation!

Wed Nov 30 11:11:17 2016

At last, here's a final preview of the new animation. This time in the form of screencaps that will hopefully tease a few new scenes that I haven't revealed yet! Hope the quality of the screens shows how much time went into crafting these visuals!

Note that my upload space is currently reacting slow or not at all, which is why I'm trying to use Patreon's uploader this time. Hope this works! Using the img src HTML tag still makes images come up truncated here, it works perfectly in the comments though. For now people will have to click the links to see the content sadly.

I've got a bunch of gifs for the $5 tier as well, expect them in 30 mins! (:

Final preview tomorrow!

Mon Nov 28 18:14:02 2016

First off, thanks for the patience everyone! I'm slowly getting closer towards the finishing line with the new animation and will be able to show some screenshots and playblasts tomorrow. At the moment I'm finalizing the color grading and should have all visuals done within the next days. I can't estimate if the sound design still makes it before the 30th, after all I still need to pester Laguna for some voice samples as well, so I hope you guys can still hold it for a few more days!

In the meantime I'll post a large strip of images tomorrow, expect playblasts as well that represent the final quality!

P.S. Apologies for slow responses to PMs at the moment, currently multitasking a lot, but will be more responsive once this film is done!

Rendering completed!

Tue Nov 22 11:47:55 2016

Just a quick update that rendering of all passes has been done today, resulting in roughly 1.200 GB of raw image data, phew!

After compositing the raw frames together I've landed at 4:15 of total runtime, including titles and animated credits. In raw animation time the film clocks in about 3:50! Looking at the full composite of this beast I'm a bit staggered how I managed to pull this off within just 3 months. Fair enough, those three months were absolutely killing me and I'll likely take it a bit easier in the future since otherwise I'll have to go on hiatus after each film, but in comparison to the Jackal animation that took almost a year, this thing came together fast. Well, as fast as a CGI film done solo can come together! <:

I'm going to send this raw version to MonsterChow and Laguna this evening! While the sound is being done I'll take care of the post production, which I'll hopefully be able to finalize within a week! Expect some final previews soon!

More Rendering

Thu Nov 17 11:29:43 2016

Hey guys! First off, apologies for the delays here, also to patrons who are pledging under $5 here since they couldn't see the weekend update. As it consisted of animated previews I've set it as a $5 tier post and should have probably seperated text and content to two seperate posts.

I've gotten pretty sick over the weekend and had to take it easier for a few days, guess constantly pushing 80h weeks is taking its tribute. Nevertheless I managed to efficiently use the time and render a large amount of frames for the new animation. Good news is that by now there are around 4000 frames rendered. Not so good news is there are roughly 3000 more to go, and then there's an elaborate post production pipeline I have to go through. You can probably tell by these numbers that this is going to be the longest, most elaborate animation yet (and that my external 4TB HDD ran full). Dividing 7000 frames by 30FPS brings us to 233.33 seconds, and after editing, the animation will probably be anywhere around 3:30 to 4:00 in total runtime.

I know that no one ever asked me to do an animation this long, but after seeing the incredible increase of pledges here I felt like I wanted to push myself and do something bigger for those supporting me, especially since the last animation was barely longer than a minute. Sadly, as it's the case with all quality work, it's taking a decent amount of time. I already torture my workstation rendering frames 24/7, and despite potent hardware, most image sequences take many hours to fully render. This isn't because of a lack of hardware power, or optimization, but more because of the sheer amount of frames and runtime of the animation. I know that people are waiting (and paying) here, which is why I'm trying to work as efficient and fast as possible. Nevertheless it will still take at least a week to finalize this new animation, as there's still a decent amount of work to be done.

I'll keep everyone updated with another set of preview animations, as well as images soon! Once rendering of all the base frames is finished I'll send the animation to Monsterchow, who'll provide the sound work for this. Can't really tell how long he'll need for this, but last time it was roughly a week, even though that animation was a lot shorter. I'll make sure to keep an efficient workflow and do the entire post production while the sound work is being done. I absolutely want to put this out this month, which is why I'm currently dedicating 100% of my time to finalizing this!

New Playblasts!

Mon Nov 14 05:39:17 2016

Phew! Hope it's still Sunday! Apologies for the slight delay, been getting horribly sick since I likely have been pushing it too hard lately. I won't let this hold up the animation though, at this point I'll have to wait for my PC to render everything either way, for these days my PC will basically run in autopilot while I can retreat into bed for 1 - 2 days!

Meanwhile here are some playblasts! Not trying to spoil too much of the animation so these are mostly showing the progress on the scenes that were shown earlier. Unlike last time these are half-rendered though! Means the base pass is rendered, with an additional fur pass, depth, AO and post production still to go! Looks like we're slowly approaching the finalized version!

Apologies for not having caught up with my messages here yet! Once I feel better I'll get right back to it!

Rendering!

Tue Nov 8 16:11:13 2016

Just a small weekly update! While I still need to animate a few scenes, I've already started rendering the first scene, which is 2:40 in lenght and has 5000 frames alone. I found this to be the most efficient way, since rendering can take multiple weeks. This way my PC can render frames over night while I still animate throughout the days, this way no time gets lost.

Trying to show another little update for the weekend! Hopefully by then all the animation will be finalized so I can finally take a short break while the rest of the animation is being rendered. Everything is turning out really well, super happy with the quality so far! (:

November

Tue Nov 1 15:33:44 2016

First, thanks a lot to all patrons who have supported this Patreon throughout October despite the lack of any major content being done. I also apologize to everyone for not getting the Halloween animation done until the 31st of October. In its original idea it was supposed to be much shorter, but I ended up wanting to deliver more than just a short animation and give people some more content for the amounts they're pledging. Officially the goal was to complete larger animations is 4 months after the previous release, since Halloween was a lot closer I've only given myself 2 months though, which was obviously not enough. This at least gives me a better idea where my own capabilities are and allows for more realistic estimations and better planning in the future.

All things considered, please bare with me just a bit longer! I'll keep posting WIPs and playblasts throughout the next days of course, so stay tuned! In addition I'll try to deliver bonus content for this animation shortly after its release despite the $2,000 not being reached, hopefully this will make up for the long wait! (:

Halloween Animation Playblasts

Mon Oct 31 12:17:08 2016

In addition, here are some recent playblasts from the new animation! Some performances still need a bit of fine tuning, but I'm slowly getting there! (:

The first encounter with Zoe, eyes still need some fine tuning! Lips don't deform from her tongue yet as some deformers haven't been added yet.

A slow lick over the window, tongue movement needs some tweaking. In the final version there's going to be saliva trails too.

Zoe pretends to be scared, currently working on this!

Halloween preview

Mon Oct 31 12:02:24 2016

As promised, here are is a preview on the Halloween animation that I'm still working on! Having almost animated two and a half minutes the progress is good, even though not nearly as far as I'd have liked it at this point. It's certain that this is going to be the longest animation yet, with a runtime that will even exceed the three minute Jackal animation from a few years ago. Here's hoping that despite its length and effort I can finish it in a timely manner, as I know I'm keeping you guys waiting.

The tone of this animation is going to be a tad darker, despite that it's still going to keep a humorous undertone. However, instead of using vibrant colors this new film will mostly be tinted in darkness. To prevent it from becoming pitch black I'm making a lot of use of fog that contrasts with the dark folliage, as the car the viewer finds themself in is embraced by a dark forest. To the left there's an old farmstead with a dim, solar powered light that illuminates the fog beyond the fence. The majority of the illumination is done by the car's headlights though, once they're turned on they'll reveal most of the scene, and Zoe as well.

After she had already teased the viewer through short messages, she'll finally make an appearance right next to the car, leaning herself against the window and teasing the viewer with a lengthy lick at the glass. The whole scene could be compared to the Zoe's Tease animation from many years ago. Once she has had her fun, she's going to pretend to have seen something scary behind the viewer, they're going to turn around and find her gone, only to find her in the passanger seat right after. I think from here most of you know what's going to happen afterwards.

Note that these last two images here are a little dated, as I've already put some more work in character lighting and the environment itself. The first two images however should represent the final look pretty well!

While I've been working 80h weeks, releasing the animation on the 31st of October was sadly impossible to manage, especially with this being the most elaborate film yet. There's still a lot that has to be animated, at the same time I've also spent a considerable amount of time into the environment. In terms of animation this new film is going to be much smoother, as I'm carefully tweaking everything until it feels perfect. The new 60FPS format should help elevating this later on!

To get an idea of how the final animation will look like, check out this header image in full 4k resolution!

Halloween Animation - Two early playblasts

Sun Oct 23 14:00:07 2016

Here's a first glimpse of some of the animation of the next film! For this early preview I've selected two playblasts with very basic effects and lighting to give a rough idea on the film's look! Note that this is just an internal preview, with the majority of advanced effects being disabled. Lighting isn't final either, the overall animation is still going to be fine tuned as well!

So far I'm about 2 minutes into the film, with a lot of the more complex animation parts still ahead of me. I'm trying to get the majority of that finished until the 31st, to show some more fleshed out preview animation and hopefully some of the more sexier parts! (:

Zoe Lightroom Artpack (Free Version)

Wed Oct 19 00:48:01 2016

At last, here's a free version of the Zoe artpack! The pack has been available for Patreon supporters for a while now, with the content having been posted throughout the recent months. This pack mostly consists of poses, as well as a small gif animation loop, all rendered at high quality standards! Hoping that people can enjoy this!

Download link: https://mega.nz/#!I1IBGQBZ!ekkhE8b0J9aNVOFCFQel7_Cfzki_iIY6kPHrM_kyE8U

The downgrade for the free version comes with the images being half resolution and in jpeg quality, where the Patreon version comes with lossless 4k resolution frames in form of pngs. Furthermore the gif loop is available in higher resolutions and framerateson Patreon, depending on the supporter tier.

Halloween Animation Concept (Spoilers)

Tue Oct 11 15:30:03 2016

So far I haven't said much on the upcoming Halloween animation yet, which is why I'd like to use this post to describe it a bit. Apologies for having been a little quiet about it, I've still been working on the environment and a few other things that were necessary to make this animation work. The actual animating process finally starts today though!

The animation starts in a 1st person POV from a human character. The main idea for the beginning is to have the character looking for a lost person in the woods, they suddenly receive phone messages from Zoe, which will give the viewer an idea where the person went. She'll reveal herself shortly after. First lingering outside of the car, before she suddenly appears on the seat next to the viewer and eventually eats them. A switch to third person will then show her swallowing the character, with her now sitting in the driver's seat.

The runtime is supposed to be around 3 minutes, very much like the Jackal animation. At the moment it's likely that I won't make it to the 31st of October, since there's still a vast amount of animation work ahead of me. In order to make that goal I'll have to compromise either animation runtime, or turn the visuals down significantly, which really wouldn't be in favor of the next animation's quality. I guess 2 months really isn't enough for something that ambitious, but I'll keep posting WIPs and keep everyone updated on the progress!

October

Sun Oct 2 08:45:12 2016

First off, thanks so much to all patrons, old and new, who have been supporting the last month! After the release of the recent animation the pledges pretty much doubled, bringing us above the 1.5k goal within just three months! I have to admit I never expected things to get even remotely close to that, but we somehow made it, which is thanks to your generous support!

There will be a few changes coming this month, the biggest one being that I'll convert to the new system where new patrons are charged up front. There's several reasons why this system will probably work better, one of them being the reduction in messaging work here. So far I needed to send every patron a link to the new animation, with the new system I'd be able to directly post the animations here without having to worry about people pledging for a minute, grabbing stuff, and dropping out. Since I get a notification for every pledge I can tell that this is case with at least one third of new pledges coming in. Note the decision isn't final yet, so if there's any critique towards this system write it down in the comments and I'll reconsider it. So far I've only received recommendations to migrate to it though.

The second change will be the preliminary bump up/removal of the VR goal. I want to be completely honest here, I didn't expect us to be anywhere close to this goal within just three months and had only set it as a consideration for a more distant future. If we'd reach it right now I'd certainly be unable to deliver on it, especially since it would require a significant upgrade in both soft and hardware, which would requires a very considerable investment. The bump/removal of the goal will only be temporarily, at least until I'm ready for it. Chances are it won't be something for this year anymore, since I'm just starting to upgrade to deliver on the 60FPS goal.

Either way, here's a first render of the environment for the new animation! This new film will be Halloween themed, so expect something a little more spooky this time. It will be a POV thing in the same style of the Jackal animation, with the environment being a car inside the woods. There's still a lot of work I need to do on this before actually starting to animate, but I'll keep you guys posted with new renders and tests throughout the month! (:

Slurp! Mini Animation

Tue Sep 27 08:24:05 2016

Here's a small animation to round up the lightroom photo series, this time with Zoe licking over the lense though, I'm sure many secretly wanted to see this! <3

First time testing higher framerates here! Unlike my previous animations, this gif is rendered at 30FPS, as opposed to 25. Higher Patreon tiers will have access to a 60FPS (and higher resolutions), in which the other half of the frames are interpolated. Hopefully in the near future we'll be able to render at true 60FPS though. For now, here's testing some new waters! (:

The Apartment - Free Version

Tue Sep 20 17:55:40 2016

Here's the free version of the recent animation that's accessible for anyone else! Note that this version is streaming only and not downloadable unlike the bluray and 4K quality tier files. I'm going to post this on Patreon first and later release it on other art portals to dampen the load on the video streaming server a bit. Keep in mind that during the first 48 hours the video might load slow due to a large amount of users trying to access it at the same time. The video uses a similar encoder setting like Youtube does, so both versions should load relatively fast at the expense of a few compression artifacts.

Here's the last and final part of the photo series! With 14 images this pack is now complete, additionally I'll post a mini animation towards the end of this month as a little cherry on top of it, said animation is currently rendering and should be finalized somewhere inbetween 1 - 2 weeks, given my PC isn't having an aneurism somewhere along the way!

Here are a few more shots from the upcoming image series pack of the finalized Zoe model, all rendered with fancy lighting at the highest possible output settings! There's a few images left, additionally I'll post a mini animation later on this month as a nice, little addition to this, so stay tuned!

Meanwhile we made it to 100 patrons, thanks to everyone for the incredible support and giving this patreon such an incredible start! I'll make sure to keep delivering high quality 3D content over the upcoming months! <3

Thanks so much guys! ;-;

Wed Sep 7 06:15:59 2016

Oh boy, it's been rather wild for the recent days here! First, a big thank you to everyone for the incredible rise in pledges! I still haven't got around to send everyone a personal thank you message, but I'll get to that within the next few days! It's been my top priority to keep up with all the PMs within the recent days and make sure everyone got the animation. If you were left out please send me a PM immediately and I'll get back to you as soon as I see it! With the large amount of feedback that's been coming here throughout the recent days it's quite possible that I've overseen something at some point.

The plan for this month is to finalize the Zoe art pack, which will feature 14 - 16 ultra quality renders, as well as a small animation loop of her that I'm currently preparing. At the same time I'm already doing some environment modelling work for the next big animation. It might admittedly be a little too ambitious to aim for October 31st as the release date, but I'll see what I can do and keep everyone posted with new WIPs in the meantime!

Thank you so much for the incredible support you have given me! This Patreon already runs beyond what I could've imagined! (:

The Apartment (Early access)

Sat Sep 3 07:47:15 2016

And here's the new animation!

Over the course of the recent years people heavily requested an animation that has Zoe resting with a large wiggling belly, so it was time to finally realize this popular request! In terms of quality this is a step on new lands once again, implementing sophisticated lighting, highly detailed fur, dynamic particles and other advanced techniques and rendering them out at full, native 4K resolution. Admittedly, the length of this animation had to suffer a little from that ambitious render target, resulting in a few scenes being canned in order to get it done in a timely manner, but with Patreon support constantly growing this shouldn't be a problem anymore in the near future with access to faster hardware.

Within the next 15 minutes, all patrons that have contributed to the $10/$15 tiers (and above) at least once, will receive an early access link with high quality encoded versions of the new animation. If anyone happened to contribute to these tiers, but exited at some point then send me a message and I'll send them a link as well.

Note that I can't include people in the multi-message system that aren't patrons anymore, so I'll have to find them manually. If someone just started pledging one of these tiers then I'll send them the HQ links at the beginning of next month, still need to find a better way to go about this though. The free, lower quality version will then be out in two weeks for everyone to see!

Thanks to all patrons again for making this possible! I'm continuing to work on new animations and other content for the upcoming months. We'll have to see how to go about the top tiers and whether those three contributors want to keep their pledge or remove it. If the first is the case then we'll be discussing new rewards soon. The next big animation is planned for the end of October and will take place inside a car. I'm planning this to be a little longer though, so fingers crossed that we'll get it done in only 2 months for Halloween. o.o;

Hope it's going to be well received despite its short length, I'm sure people can still see the effort behind it. Eventually I'll be reusing the environment in the future once I have some faster hardware, the time it takes to render is currently a bit much, with this 80 second animation having taken multiple weeks to render. For now I shall try to take 1 - 2 days off my PC and go out a little, feeling like a zombie since I've been doing nothing else than working on this for the recent days. Still trying my best keeping up with all the messages!

September

Thu Sep 1 09:52:53 2016

With the new month arriving we're close of the release of the new animation! At this point I'm just waiting on the sound design to be finalized, once that's done I'll wrap everything up and make a post on the same day I get the remaining files!
One huge thanks to all the patrons that have helped almost getting us to the next goal! At the end of the month we were actually far above it, but by now I've figured that the beat usually drops at the beginning of each new month, so we'll see if we reach the next goal this month and actually keep it stable! For this month's roadmap I've planned releasing the new animation, as well as more HQ render shots of Zoe. As a bonus I'd like to post another mini animation as a gif loop later on! Been planning to slowly test the waters with 60FPS animations and it would mostly be for that purpose. I'm trying my best to get all of this done for this month as it's quite a lot of content. In the meantime I've already started working on the next big animation, which will be Halloween themed this time. It's pretty ambitious in itself, so here's hoping I get it finalized by the end of October. My tempo here is already vastly faster than what the current goals are either way, as I feel like I need a head start to get this Patreon established. Here's hoping that working overtime each day will actually pay off later on!

On a less cheerful note I've been brought to the decision to block a few single users which made a habit of repeatedly making a pledge for a few minutes, grab content and remove their pledge right after. After talking to a collegue here I was told that this tends to happen frequently, with some people using this site to grab content for free by using loopholes. In reaction to this I'll send the new animation to those that actually contributed to the reward tiers on this account, rather than putting it into a post here. Might finally be time to use the multi message system here!

New animation will be posted in hopefully 1 - 2 days! Once I've got the remaining sound design I'll post it immediatly! Thank you so much for the support! (:

Almost there!

Sat Aug 27 04:03:18 2016

Rendering of the new animation is almost finalized, from here it's mostly going to be sound work and we're done! It might be that it still takes until September for animation to be posted, but should that be the case then it will be in the first three days of the month. While the animation is definitely one of my shorter ones, I still want to ensure everything is top notch! Apologies that it took so long, been spending almost three weeks straight rendering frames since the production workflow of producing a 4K animation at this quality is quite brutal for just a single person.

Just a few more days and it will be out! In the meantime, here's a few more screencaps of the final pass!

Rendering!

Sun Aug 14 02:01:04 2016

We're slowly getting closer to the finish line with the new animation! At this point all the animation and dynamics were finalized, from here it's just rendering and post production! Total estimated rendering time is somewhere beyond 160h for the first pass this time, second pass will likely be somewhere around 20h. With all the sound design and bit of voice acting that still needs to be done I'd say the end of August seems still realistic. If any patrons pledging some of the higher tiers need to drop out at this point then that's no problem, as the rewards are pretty much locked by now!

Note that once the animation is out, patrons will receive a link with a password to the higher quality video file, this includes all patrons who have pledged at least $10 (Blu-Ray quality tier) and $15 (4K quality tier). Note that links and rewards will only be given out to accounts that were successfully charged, so those that just started pledging this month will eventually have to wait until September to get access to HQ versions. Public release of lower quality versions should then be 2 weeks later!

In the meantime, here are a few more screengrabs from the animation, this time rendered as well! This includes a look at the Patreon rewards for those that pleged higher amounts (TAP book and fake Time cover), which will be seen inside the animation! Though note that no post production on these was not, or barely done yet, so these still look a little bare! (:

Performance animation tests

Tue Aug 2 04:22:10 2016

First of all, thanks to everyone for the incredible support this month! Ever since its start, this Patreon had been going beyond my expectations, which is thanks to everyone's generous help! (:

This month's goal is to get a new animation finalized, I'll be keeping you posted with previews, starting with this one! Spoilers ahead!

Here are a few snippets of internal playblasts, mostly testing Zoe's performances. I'm using this animation to test some voice overs for the first time, even though it will mostly be small phrases for now. Of course these sequences are rendered at minimal quality with basic textures and lighting, not including any elaborate effects such as reflections, fur, etc. There's going to be a lot of tweaking, but for now I'm still working on getting the performances right! <:

Zoe - Lightroom Photo Series (Part 1)

Tue Jul 26 03:59:17 2016

To shorten the waiting time for the new animation (Current ETA: Late August) I've come up with a series of images of the finalized Zoe model, showing her nude form inside a photographic environment. Here's the first set of pictures! In total I've planned to have roughly 16 of these and keep posting them until the new animation is finalized. Most of these photos show her ultra fur preset, where hairs are thinner and rendered at twice the density. Right now it's only possible to render her like that because there isn't any environment to speak of here, so I could finally make use of this fancy looking preset. Of course vorish images are among these renders as well!

Going to keep these exclusive on Patreon here until the whole set is complete! Furthermore patrons can see these at full 3k/4k resolution. The ones that are going to be posted on sites such as FA will be at half the resolution.

Vorish Krystal Renders (Patreon Reward for Smokey)

Wed Jul 20 14:45:52 2016

While Smokey already pledged a significant amount of money through the top tier award, he waived his easteregg reward and requested vore related renders of Krystal instead, based on the recent render I posted here. These renders are going to be used in a game called RADD runner, which is developed by another Patreon animator. These renders are basically serving as game over screens, as Krystal is an endboss in the game and can eat the player in various ways. Here are the three renders in full 4K resolution!

Note that I've already been animating throughout the recent days, as I'm planning to have the next animation finished somewhere by the end of August, given the final render time doesn't say otherwise, but we'll see! In the meantime I'm already preparing a few other things to post here and hopefully keep patrons entertained! (:

Forest Pass - 4k

Sun Jul 3 19:21:45 2016

And for all patrons, a 4k version with reduced logos, which should be better suited as wallpaper! (:

Forest Pass

Sun Jul 3 18:56:53 2016

I've learned quite a lot in the recent years and constantly tried to improve the look of my renderings. After looking through some of my old Krystal renderings I was more or less suprised how flat they looked in comparison to my recent works. Thought it was a good time to get out the model again, apply some of the changes I had done to Zoe and then model a new environment that resembles the dinosaur planet from SFA, just to see how close I could get to either an official looking concept render, or something that looks like a shot from an animated movie. But judge for yourself, the perspective should be perfect for wallpaper purposes as well!

Thanks so much!

Fri Jul 1 15:40:43 2016

Just a little thank you message to all patrons that pledged! I'm humbled to see such a great start on this platform, especially since it's just been established for a few weeks! I'm still getting used to the system and hope I didn't forget to message anyone who pledged. Some patrons happened to get declined, or marked as OK and not charged, but I know we live in tough times and still appreciate the kind intent, especially since I barely expected this to go anywhere above $100 within the first month. So thanks so much for the generous support everyone! (:

Within this month I'm going to work hard on the next animation and hope to get it done somewhere around early August, given I'm not too optimistic there! My goal for the next months is to establish some high quality content that exceeds the quality of previous animations once more. This is mostly enabled through your support since I can now devote more time to this and deliver this content in a more timely manner. I'll keep you posted on progress on the animation, as well as a few smaller things I had planned for this month. We're just getting started here!

Zoe's Room - Dynamics Test

Mon Jun 27 21:17:47 2016

http://cake.macrophile.com/HDimages/patreon/room_test.mp4

Here's a short test animation of Zoe's room to test out the dynamic elements in motion. Quality should be identical to the target render, safe for some small differences in color grading. The rain itself falls a bit slowly and will likely drop a bit faster in the final animation, some mild flickering here and there as well, but that's nothing that can't be reduced for the final film.

Next step is to implement Zoe, her room is now ready to go!

Zoe's Room - Final render

Tue Jun 21 22:06:45 2016

Oh boy, I think I'm finally done! After spending the recent days modelling props like I have no life (like I had a life otherwise :'D) Zoe's room is finally finished! With most props and furniture being custom made, I was also able to find a few decent free items like the fancy Apple gadgets lying on the table! The room was supposed to look like an actual person would live in there, which is why I walked the extra mile to place equipment all over the place. Apart from candles and gadgets there's also little details such as power sockets and cables, something that is often not considered in 3D art.

The image should represent the quality for the target render pretty well. Right now a single frame of the scene takes roughly 15s to render at full 4K resolution. Gotta see how things look once Zoe is inside the scene with her system heavy fur shaders! But that's something I'll get to later. Next steps would be testing the dynamic elements in a short test animation, which is something that will be Patreon exclusive. This is mostly to test out dynamic elements such as rain, trees moving, candles, lightning strikes, ect.

Once that is done, we can finally get to animating! (:

Lighting Study - Zoe's Room

Sun Jun 12 21:59:30 2016

Before even starting to animate I usually test out a number of different lighting conditions inside a scene to determine which of them look least horrible! The plan for the next animation is to have Zoe resting on the couch in her room with a full squirmy tummy, and of course this borderline smut scenario needs to be properly lit as well!

Day- http://cake.macrophile.com/HDimages/lighting%20study/ls_day.jpg

Dusk- http://cake.macrophile.com/HDimages/lighting%20study/ls_dusk.jpg

Rain- http://cake.macrophile.com/HDimages/lighting%20study/ls_rainy.jpg

Night- http://cake.macrophile.com/HDimages/lighting%20study/ls_night.jpg

During the recent days I've set up various lighting models to test inside her room. Unlike the recent animation this is a relatively small scene and therefore allows for fairly detailed light and shadows. Lighting is mostly made up of a skylight half-sphere illuminating the room, as well as weak ambient light, a stronger sun spotlight, and hand placed global illumination. For the night variation there are other light sources, but this particular variation was made knowing I wouldn't use it anyways, after having done two animations playing at night time in a row. Having said that, I didn't put much consideration into the night variation, which is why it doesn't look particularly good.

All things considered I'll likely go with the rainy variation, I love the idea of raindrops on the windows refracting the outside light. Furthermore the grey/green contrast of plants and furnishings has a soothing effect on the eye, which will fit perfectly for this animation. I've planned to additionally put at least one tree in front of the windows outside to emphazise this contrast, apart from that the 2D image plane of the city will be less obvious, so things will feel a little less like the Truman Show.

Zoe's room has gotten a few improvements by now as well, most notably the curtains. Material shaders have seen a vast improvements overall, glossy ones have real time reflections now, while others like the carpet were enhanced by a fancy fur shader! I shall hold back from making a terrible fur-niture pun here. <:

There's still some work to be done here. Eventually the room needs a few more props, apart from that there's currently nothing behind the camera, so modelling a desk with a laptop , as well as a door seems like a good idea. This way she wouldn't always have to enter throught the window as well

Zoe - A look at the progress

Fri Jun 10 15:56:21 2016

First post here! And since that's the case, I shall make it public for everyone to see! First off, let me say thank you for kickstarting this page with so many pledges, I'm happy this works out so well! Also apologies if I sent out messages to patrons twice, still getting used to everything here. D:

With every new animation I try to improve the overall look of Notkrystal. Especially since last year there've been a lot of improvements on not just the geometry, but also on her shaders and fur model. Especially her torso has seen vast improvements, there are now accents on squishy abs, as well as a bellybutton. Teeth have been entirely remodeled, the previous ones always looked like wood stumps, never liked that look. In addition the materials in her mouth are finally rendered with elaborate subsurface scattering, a shading technique that simulates translucency and general makes materials appear a lot more soft. A major update has been done to her textures as well, with Zoe having tattoos all over her body now. Fur density has been doubled with hairs being half as thick now. Additionally I'm planning to use a new fur rendering technique for future animations, you can see this new method in action on this updated reference sheet of Zoe, which generally shows a comparison between the 2015 and 2016 version. This new fur rendering method requires each frame to be rendered twice though, effectively doubling the render time. Having said that, I have yet to use it in animations!

To do list

While I'm pretty happy with the model's current state, there's still a bit of work to be done. The model is still based on Gadonstriom's and Rhyfe2002's rig that used the Krystal model of Starfox Adventures as a base.

http://krystalarchive.com/gallery/3d.Rhyfe2002Rig/3d.Rhyfe2002Rig.01.jpg

Back then I got in contact with Rhyfe, started working on the rig from there and getting it onto the quality it is now. Looking back at this it probably would've been a lot easier just making an entirely new model and using that SFA model as a reference, as working the model up likely ended up being a lot more work than this. It sometimes feels a bit like a nerdier version of restoring an old '67 Chevrolet Impala. But let's get to the things that still need to be done!

Eyes - There's quite a gap between eyeballs and eyelids, going to need some geometry tweaks to have them perfectly align to each other.

Nose - Could use some higher res bump and better defined specular, will have to seperate it from the model to do so.

Tail - Currently a big bunch of floof, will have to make it a more defined bunch of floof!

Fur - Could use an even higher density, hairs are still a little too thick up close. This one is entirely limited to GPU power and VRAM, so if Patreon really takes off I might be able to invest into a GTX 1080 and give her the Pixar level fur she always deserved.

Hands/Feet - I hate to admit it since it will be a painful task to modify poly structure on an already rigged model, but at some point it has to be done. ;-;

Clothes? - Eventually later on. While her tank top looks great, I might give her custom jeans sometime that perfectly cling to her butt!

Let me know if there's anything else that you think needs work!
