St. Dympna's Hospital, Carlow is a public psychiatric hospital located in Carlow, Ireland. Founded in 1834[1] as Carlow/Kildare Lunatic Asylum, it was taken over by the Irish Government in 1971. It is now run by the Health Service Executive, providing psychiatric services for the population of County Carlow and County Kilkenny. The hospital is named after St. Dympna, Roman Catholic patron saint of mental illness.
