Simple & Crisp is an innovative dried fruit company in Seattle, Washington that produces and sells artisanal dried apple, orange, pear and blood orange crackers using 100% fruit that's thinly sliced and simply dried. Simple & Crisp is nature's best cracker, naturally gluten-free, non-GMO, sulfite-free and antioxidant and fiber-rich.[1]

History

Simple & Crisp was founded by Jane Yuan,[2] a former publicist and marketing consultant, and passionate foodie. Drawn by the natural beauty of oranges and fruit, Yuan created her own dried fruit slices that were crisp like a cracker, and less sugary than traditional dried fruit, but aesthetically pleasing all at the same time. After her fruit crackers became a hit amongst her friends during dinner parties and wine tastings, Yuan realized that it was time to take her creation to market and launched the company in late 2012.[3]

Channeling her background in marketing and public relations, her eye for design, and affinity for healthy foods, Yuan developed Simple & Crisp to create healthier options to both entertain guests and satisfy different dietary needs. The gluten-free fruit crackers created by Simple & Crisp are intended to be used as gourmet serving vessels and a pairing to foods[4] such as cheese and desserts or garnishes to beverages such as champagne or cocktails.[5][6]

Basing their operations in a production kitchen in the SoDo area of Seattle,[7] Simple & Crisp works with sustainable growers for fruit that's picked at the peak of perfection. They seek to keep their ingredients and sourcing simple by working with orchards that adhere to responsible, ethical and honest agricultural practices. While their apples and pears originate from Washington and Oregon, their oranges and blood oranges derive from California.[8] Simple & Crisp follows the growing seasons and hand selects their fruit for optimal sizing, sweetness, ripeness and flavor, so they don't need to add complicated ingredients before drying.

The product is stocked at national retailers such as Whole Foods Market,[9] Williams-Sonoma and Dean & DeLuca.[8] Oprah Winfrey picked Simple & Crisp as "The Find" in her monthly magazine.[10]
