Background

Empire Education Group participates in annual fundraising efforts for local charities. In 2007, the company garnered a quarter-million dollars for KidsPeace, headquartered in Pennsylvania. Empire Beauty Schools hosted National Day of Beauty, a one-day event in which students discounted hair, skin and nail services and 100 per cent of the proceeds were sent directly to the KidsPeace organization.[4]

Empire Education Group annually hosts the largest hair and nail competition in the U.S. Empire's National Competition and Hair Show brings competitors from the school's 87 campuses, together for the two-day event. Competitors participate in one-hour-long events such as Long Hair Evening Design, Ladies Trend Cut and Style with Color and Nail Art Display. Top winners earn educational trips to shadow and learn from industry professionals around the globe. The 2008 first place winners earned all-expense paid trips to Hawaii, Spain and the Netherlands.[5][6][7]

In 2010, Empire Beauty Schools acquired the Northern Westchester School of Hairdressing and Cosmetology in Peekskill, New York, as well as the International Academy of Cosmetology School in Cincinnati, Ohio.[8][9]

Empire Beauty Schools opened the company's 100th campus in Springfield, Pennsylvania, in 2010. The school was unveiled during Empire Education Group's 100 Days of Empire event. [10]

The newest eco-friendly schools were opened in West Palm Beach, Florida, Pineville, North Carolina, and Paramus, New Jersey. The schools follow on the heels of the Lauderhill, Florida, beauty school which picked up the Green Conscious Salon Certification award from the Florida Association of Beauty Professionals. All of the cosmetology schools incorporated eco-conscious elements such as energy and water saving features.[11][12]
