Alessandro Venezia (born 17 August 1989) is an Italian professional footballer who can play in various positions in the midfield, both attacking and defensive. Currently playing for Miami Dade FC.

Club career

Italy

Alessandro Venezia was considered a promising young Italian football star and made his debut as a professional footballer at 16 years old with Igea Virtus in Serie C. The next season Venezia was purchased by Gela Calcio in Serie C where despite his young age he showed his great skills to the point of becoming a regular first team player despite still being a teenager.

SSC Napoli

At the time Venezia was considered one of the top young players in the country and after several performances with Italian youth national teams he was bought by SSC Napoli under the coach Donadoni.Venezia had the opportunity to train and play with players of the calibre of Marek Hamsik, Lavezzi and Cannavaro.[1]

Valenzana

At Valenzana Venezia became an integral part of the team and brought experience despite his young age. The team played in Serie C which was a very competitive league and allowed for overseas teams to scout him. This was the start of interest from various clubs from Switzerland, England and Germany.[2]

Romania

Cluj FC

Through his performances in Italy he was offered a contract with the Romanian Liga I outfit FC Cluj.[3]

In December 2012 Cluj played against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League. The result was 0-1 at Old Trafford.[4]

Armenia

Alashkert FC

Venezia after the season in Romania rejects three contract offers by FC Cluj and two other teams in Serie A Atalanta and Parma. However, when the negotiation between Parma and Venezia was close to being finalized one of Armenia's richest clubs, Alashkert FC, made an offer that could not be refused. Therefore, Venezia moved to Yerevan the Armenian capital to play in the Armenian Premier League.[5] Venezia received salary for €100.000 a year contract.

In Australia Venezia became one of the global sponsorship figures for Italian brand Macron.

United States

Miami United

After the experience in Australia Venezia became the star for the season 2014/2015 signing of Miami United in the NASL. This team was put together as part of a consortium of investors who are trying to create a MLS team in Miami.

The club confirmed their desire to continue with Venezia for the following season 2015/2016. The new project at Miami United includes the arrival of Adriano and León. This convinced Venezia to reject the various offers from Italy, China, and Indonesia, he received and sign what is reported as a $150,000 USD a year contract.Venezia will be part of othe team that has ambitions to move up the hierarchy of football in the USA and become a powerhouse in Florida.
