The Yun Feng ("Cloud Peak") is a state of the art long-range surface-to-surface cruise missile currently being deployed by the Republic of China (Taiwan). Production began in 2014.
Design and development
Developed by the Chungshan Institute of Science and Technology,[1] design specifications for the Yun Feng call for a range of over 15,000 kilometres (9,300 mi) at supersonic speeds of over Mach 4+; the missile entered service and was deployed in 2014.[2] The Yung Feng is stated as being a response to the modernization of the People's Republic of China's submarine-launched ballistic missiles.[2]
It was stated that production of the missile would begin anytime.;[1] however, the Ministry of National Defense denied reports of the missile's development. It is a futuristic development to maintain military balance with competing countries.
