Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V (遊☆戯☆王ARC-V(アーク・ファイブ) Yūgiō Āku Faibu, "Arc Five") is a Japanese Shōnen manga series illustrated by Naohito Miyoshi and written by Shin Yoshida. The series is the manga spin off of Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V anime with the same characters and setting, but a different story.

The series began serialization in Shueisha's V-Jump magazine in August 2015,[1] and also began serialization by Viz Media in English in its digital Weekly Shonen Jump on August 24, 2015.[2]

Plot

The story takes place in Maiami City, where Leo Corporation developed Solid Vision that gives life to Duel Monsters and physical mass to monsters, environments, and allow players to interact directly with them. It also gives birth to challenging Action Duels. Action Duels allow duelists to traverse environments to locate Action Cards to help them in a pinch. Leo Corporation also uses this technology for rescue missions and reconstruction work during disasters due to its capability of creating objects with mass. The System is already an inseparable part of people's daily life.

The story follows Yuya Sakaki, a mysterious Entertainment Duelist with ability to Pendulum Summon. Nicknamed Phantom, he is on the run from Leo Corporation after hacking into their system to freely manipulate Solid Vision technology for his own use. He has three other personalities within him: the Xyz Duelist Yuto, the Fusion Duelist Yuri, and the Synchro Duelist Yugo. While escaping from Leo Corporation, he met Yuzu Hiragi, the daughter of the principal of Syu Zo Duel School that is on the verge of bankruptcy, and she successfully tricked him to sign a contract to become a teacher at her school in exchange she will help him in his mission.

Together with his other personalities and Yuzu, Yuya searches for a certain card called "Genesis Omega Dragon" (G.O.D) that said will determine the fate of the world. Standing on his way are Reiji Akaba, the president of Leo Corporation who deploys a special team of Duelists specifically to capture him for reason yet to be revealed, and a mysterious woman called EVE who seeks his scattered memories.

Main Characters

Yuya Sakaki (榊 遊矢 Sakaki Yūya)
He is an Entertainment Duelist infamously known as Phantom. He hacked into Leo Corporation's Solid Vision system so he can use the system for his own use. He has three other personalities inside him: Yuto, Yuri, and Yugo. Sharing a body with them, Yuya is able to freely switches himself with his other personalities. For yet unknown reason, his other personalities scattered and erased his memories regarding them, leaving Yuya not remembering them before they were sharing bodies. He is searching for a card called Genesis Omega Dragon (G.O.D) and uses the Solid Vision technology for the purpose to find the card. As Entertainment Duelist and excellent hacker, Yuya capable of manipulating the Solid Vision technology to materialize his magic tricks that gives him advantage in Duel, usually to get an Action Card. It's revealed that he and Reiji are actually from the future, but got sent by their fathers to the present timeline after an incident called World Illusion led the destruction of the future. He uses Odd-Eyes Dragon and Entermate Deck that focuses on Pendulum Summon and his ace monster is Odd-Eyes Phantom Dragon.
Yuto (ユート Yūto)
He is Yuya's second personality who uses Xyz Summon. At the beginning of the series, Yuto acts as Yuya's replacement in searching G.O.D since Leo Corporation didn't know him. Unfortunately, Yuya's reckless action and Reiji's perception led his connection with Yuya to be found out during his Duel against Sawatari. Yuto is serious and careful, often scolding Yuya's recklessness. He usually becomes the voice of reason for Yuya, Yuri, and Yugo, making him somewhat an older brother for the whole personalities. He uses Phantom Knights Deck that focuses on Xyz Summon and his ace monster is Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon.
Yuri (ユーリ Yūri)
He is Yuya's third personality who uses Fusion Summon. Yuri first appeared along side Yugo, traveling through Yuya's mind to check on Yuya's memories and erase them whenever they found one to ensure Yuya never remember what happened in the past related to them. During Yuya's Duel against Sora, Yuri forcefully takes over Yuya's body when Yuya fell for Sora's sob story, which Yuri easily exposed as nothing but lies. Unfortunately, Yuri was quickly cornered when Sora directly attacked him, heavily injuring him due to the tripled damage setting set by Sora prior the Duel, leading Yuya to take over once more. Yuri displays deep care and strong protective streak for Yuya to the point he would mercilessly punish anyone who harm him in any way even if Yuya himself ask him not to. He is also more perceptive than his other personalities due to his cynical belief that every people have hidden darkness inside them. He uses Predator Plants Deck that focuses on Fusion Summon.
Yugo (ユーゴ Yūgo)
He is Yuya's fourth personality who uses Synchro Summon. Yugo first appeared along side Yuri, traveling through Yuya's mind to check on Yuya's memories and erase them whenever they found one. He is a Riding Duelist, usually likes to take a ride on his D-Wheel inside Yuya's mind. He is capable of materializing his D-Wheel using Solid Vision technology through Yuya's Duel Disk. He is kind and straightforward but also has quite a short temper, getting mad easily that usually leads to childish bickering with the one who offended him. He also has a big pride as Riding Duelist, not accepting defeat in Riding Duel and won't even allow his opponent to ride ahead of him to the point of making reckless moves. Before sharing a body with Yuya, he and Yuya were childhood friends and were very close with one another until certain incident led Yugo, Yuri, and Yuto to erase their memories together. He uses Speedroid Deck that focuses on Synchro Summon and his ace monster is Clear Wing Fast Dragon.
Yuzu Hiiragi (柊 柚子 Hīragi Yuzu)
She is the daughter of the principal of Syu Zo Duel School. Without any single student, Yuzu and her father struggles financially and on the verge of bankruptcy. To prevent the school from being closed down, she decides to pursue the Phantom, Yuya, hoping to make him a teacher and attract people to apply her Duel school. She easily tricked Yuya into signing the contract to teach at her school and forced herself to become his manager until they find G.O.D, much to Yuya's dismay. Due to her financial crisis, Yuzu is a gold-digger, taking any opportunity to make money. Her lack of finance also makes her stingy, only offering Yuya 500 Yen per hour for his teaching salary while she demanded to be paid 1000 Yen for her manager salary.

Leo Corporation

Reiji Akaba (赤馬 零児 Akaba Reiji)
He is the president of Leo Corporation. For unknown reason, Reiji seeks to capture the Phantom, Yuya, whom he refers as "Destiny Factor" that will eventually chose to destroy the world. To do this, he formed a special team that consists of strong Duelists specifically to capture Yuya. It's revealed that he and Yuya are actually from the future, but got sent by their fathers when an incident known as World Illusion occurred. Once arriving in the present timeline, he took over Leo Corporation, leading to its current growth. He holds a deep hatred for Yuya's father, Yusho, for causing World Illusion that killed his father, Leo, whom he has close relationship with. His hatred is so strong that he refuses to acknowledge Action Duel that Yusho had found and seeks to stop Yuya from getting G.O.D.
Shingo Sawatari (沢渡 シンゴ Sawatari Shingo)
He is one of Duelists in the special team in charge of capturing the Phantom. During the first chase, he took the lead and succeeded in cornering Yuya, who had switched place with Yuto. He and Yuto Dueled, and even though he succeeded in driving Yuto to corner, he was immediately defeated by Yuya once they switched place.
Shun Kurosaki (黒咲隼 Kurosaki Shun)
He is one of Duelists in the special team in charge of capturing the Phantom. After Sawatari's defeat, Shun challenges Yuya by taking Shuzo a hostage after mistaking Yuzu as Yuya's accomplice. Shun is a battle-hardened and hardcore Duelist, seeking a genuine battle where he can Duel with all his strength. Due to this, he dislike Duelist like Yuya who Duels for fun and prefer to participate in an underground Duel where the cheers from audience won't faze him. However, after he was defeated and saved by Yuya, he seems to have a change of heart. He uses Raid Raptors Deck that focuses on Xyz Summon.
Sora Shiunin (紫雲院 素良 Shiun'in Sora)
He is one of Duelists in the special team in charge of capturing the Phantom. Sora is the only one to be suspicious of Reiji's true agenda on capturing Yuya, but agreed to help out of his own curiosity. Sora challenges Yuya by leaking a false information about G.O.D and traps him in a Duel laboratory where he tripled the damage setting of the Solid Vision field. Sora is a sadistic and cunning Duelist, he has no hesitation to use dirty tactic to ensure his victory by taking advantage of Yuya's kindness. Once his lies were exposed, he shows his true colour, purposely attacking Yuya and Yuri that will heavily injuring them. Despite this, Yuya able to defeat Sora without making Sora injured, which Sora took as an insult to his pride. In retaliation, Sora blew up the Solid Vision field on the verge of his defeat. He is then rescued by a mysterious masked Duelist and disappear. He uses Furanimal and Death-Toy Deck that focuses on Fusion Summon.

Others

EVE (EVE Ivu)
She is a mysterious figure who first appeared watching the Duel between Yuya and Sora. When Sora lost the Duel, she ordered her subordinate to retrieve Sora and hack into Yuya's Duel Disk to get access to his memories.
Ren ( Ren)
He is a mysterious masked young man and subordinate of EVE. He is a skilled Riding Duelist who is somehow knowledgeable of Yuya and his personalities' background. He first appears watching the Duel between Yuya and Sora, and then rescued the latter when the Duel ended. Shortly afterwards, he infiltrated Yuya's mind to get access into his memories, which leads to a Riding Duel against Yugo who is chasing after him. Like Yugo, he is a Riding Duelist specializes in Synchro Summon, using White Deck.
Shuzo Hiiragi (柊 修造 Hīragi Shūzō)
He is Zuzu's father and the principal of Syu Zo Duel School that is on the verge of bankruptcy no one apply to his school. He is later confronted by Shun after mistaking Yuzu as Yuya's accomplice. He was defeated in their Duel and kidnapped by Shun to lure out Yuya.
Nico Smiley (ニコ・スマイリー Niko Sumairī)
He is the presenter of the underground Dueling where Shun came from and the one who recommended Shun to Reiji to be part of Reiji's special team.
