You Gotta Quintet

Quintet is a TV program which was aired by NHK Educational in Japan.

About the show

The program offers witty interpretations of classical music for children. Programs feature puppets and a variety of music and cultural entertainment. This program introduces nonsense and music into daily life for the pleasure of children, and features a musical group called "The Evening Quintet". The music featured includes folk songs and classical music, with a variety of instruments such as piano, violin, and clarinet.

Schedule

• From April 7, 2003 to April 2, 2004, it was aired in four parts starting weekdays at 17:00.
  • 1st part: 17:00-17:01
  • 2nd part: 17:11-17:14
  • 3rd part: 17:32-17:35
  • 4th part: 17:45-17:50
• From April 5, 2004 to March 31, 2006, it was shown as a continuous 10-minute program.
  • 17:50-18:00
• From April 3, 2006 to March 30, 2007, the start time was changed and Quintet Petit was started. The use of subtitles was also started.
  • Quintet: 17:30-17:40
  • Quintet Petit: 7:55-8:00
• From April 2, 2007 to March 30, 2008, the start time was changed again and Quintet Petit was discontinued. The show was broadcast in the morning with a rebroadcast of the same show that evening.
  • 7:50-8:00, 17:50-18:00
• From March 31, 2008 to March 29, 2009, the on air time was changed again, and Quintet Petit was reintroduced. The show also started on airing on Saturdays. By the way, on sirring on Saturdays is rebroadcasting.

  • Quintet Petit: 7:25-7:30
• From March 30, 2009 to March 27, 2010, the start time was changed and Quintet Petit was discontinued again. The show was once again broadcast in the morning with a rebroadcast of the same show that evening.

• From March 29, 2010, the show on airring in the morning was discontinued.

• From March 28, 2011, the show on airring in the weekdays was discontinued. By the way, the new TV program named HOOK BOOK ROW is on airred on weekdays.

• From October 1, 2011, on airring time of the rebroadcast was changed.

• From April 8, 2012, on airring time of the rebroadcast was discontinued. This program was discontinued from March 31, 2013. After that the new TV program named Musica Piccolyno was started.

Quintet

• 1st part: A formal theme songs is played.
• 2nd part: A puppet show is presented.
• 3rd part: Animation or other material.
• 4th part: A musical concert.
• 5th part: One of several ending themes, depending on the season.

Quintet Petit

Quintet Petit was broadcast from April 3, 2006 to March 30, 2007 and March 31, 2008 to March 27, 2009. It used the third and fourth parts from the main show.

Characters

• Akira(Miyagawa Akira): He is a puppet concert master and pianist. The audience does not know how old he is. He does not speak because he is not human. He also plays guitar, triangle, and other instruments. He wears glasses.
• Score (Haruhiko Saito): He is a puppet cellist, 67 years old. He is funny and shy. He has beard. He had many careers when he was young.
• Flat (Tessho Genda): He is a puppet clarinet player, 42 years old. He has a dog named Folte. He also plays harmonica.
• Aria (Ayumi Shigemori): She is a 28-year-old puppet violinist. Her soprano voice is beautiful. She also plays accordion, but she cannot play piano. She has brond hair.
• Sharp (Ken'ya Ōsumi): He is a puppet trumpet player and percussion player. 22 years old, He likes soccer and comics. He also plays guitar. He is good at painting pictures.
• Chi-boo: He is a baby puppet and percussion player. He is 11 months old. He also sells concert ticket.

Theme song

"The 'You gotta Quintet' Theme" is used to open and close the show. The text of theme song changes with the seasons; the spring version is aired from March to May, the summer version is aired from June to August, the autumn version is aired from September to November, and the winter version is used from December to February. The text of the opening theme was changed in 2007.

Repeat

• Puppet show and animation from the fourth to the second part does not mean it is not a new one every time. Get a new one, but sometimes, most times are just trying to shuffle a play for broadcasting up to that point I did a full re-broadcast. This system is called repeat.

Two weeks in a row two weeks of reruns the previous week.

Quintet Petit

First week of each month, two weeks after this broadcast, a rerun of the first week of the third week, reruns will be broadcast two weeks to four weeks.

Awards

On December 1, 2005, the program won an Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union Award in the children/young people program section with the notation "that was able to stream down splendor, the pleasure that this program used the doll, and the music had" at the 42nd annual general meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam.^[1]
