History

The company was founded in 1994. It is headquartered in San Francisco and has 7 offshore development centers in Moscow, Obninsk, Ulyanovsk, Kazan, Kaluga, Minsk and Gomel. XIM Offshore Software Development and Testing Services is an overseas extension of XIM long-standing U.S. based services.[1] XIM Inc. provides strategic consulting, application development, integration and testing services.

In its first 10 years of service XIM engaged in projects supporting ISV's and OEM's, as well as end users in various 'verticals', including Wireless/Mobile field.[2]

In 2003 XIM Inc. created the first offshore center in Moscow. Later in November 2004, a Research and Development Center was opened in Obninsk, a town known as the first Science City in Russia, boasting 12 scientific research institutes, including 3 highly acclaimed State Scientific centers in the Russian Federation.[3]

Moscow branch consisted of two departments - Quality Assurance and Software Development and had 3 different sections, parted according to project subjects:

In February 2004 the company opened the first American Software Quality Assurance School in Moscow. Primarily it was aimed at QA and software testing. XIM Inc wanted to invest in education and Research and Development abroad and not to hire contractors to complete projects offshore but to have their own employees.[5][6]

In 2005 XIM Inc. introduced Remote Mobile Application Testing Service. XIM termed this new bundled service the 'Remote Testing Lab' and focused on solutions related to mobile/wireless and EAI.[7]

The company did not position itself as a pure offshore company. XIM had its own focus, rather than trying to do outsourcing projects in general.[5][8]

In August 2009, XIM decided to expand into development of its own products for a wide range of mobile platforms.[9][10] XIMAD. XiMAD focuses primarily on mobile games and entertainment development. The division builds mobile applications under its own brand. A number of applications, such as popular Bubble Birds, Pandas vs. Ninjas, and Brain Cube have been recognized as top applications in a variety of application stores, both platform-specific and cross platform.[11]
