XHLTN-FM (known on-air as XLTN) is a commercial Spanish AC radio station in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, broadcasting on 104.5 MHz. It is also heard in the U.S. city of San Diego and maintains offices in National City. The station came on air in 1970 as part of the Califórmula Broadcasting group.
History
The original concession for 104.5 FM in Tijuana was awarded in December 1970 to Joaquín Vargas Gómez, founder of MVS Radio, for XHERS-FM. However, the station was promptly sold to XHERS, S.A., and operated by Califórmula Broadcasting from the United States. The callsign was changed to XHLTN-FM in February 1984.
In 1993, two workers died on the XHLTN tower. They were installing a large piece of transmission equipment, to which they were harnessed, when a cable gave way and the workers fell to their deaths.[2]
XHLTN was acquired by Grupo Imagen in 2004.
