William Page Roberts

The Very Rev William Page Roberts, DD (2 January 1836 – 17 August 1928) was an eminent^[1] English clergyman in the Church of England and Dean of Salisbury from 1907^[2] until 1919.^[3]

Born at Liverpool to William Roberts and his wife Prudence (née Page),^[4][5] he was educated at Liverpool College^[6] and St John's College, Cambridge.^[7] Ordained in 1862,^[8] his first post was a curacy in Stockport. He then held incumbencies at Eye and St Peter’s, Vere Street.^[9] Later he was a Canon Residentiary at Canterbury Cathedral^[10] before his elevation to the Deanery. A much respected^[11] cleric,^[12] he died at Shanklin, Isle of Wight, on 17 August 1928.^[13][14]
