Weekend at the Asylum

2011 World Record attempt for most steampunks

Weekend at the Asylum is the largest Steampunk Festival in Europe. Since 2009, the festival (or convivial in Steampunk parlance) has been held each year at a converted mental asylum, called The Lawn, in Lincoln and stretches over historical quarter of Lincoln town and Lincoln Castle. It is a not-for-profit event organized by the Victorian Steampunk Society.

The September 2011 event attracted more than 1000 steampunks from across the World.[1]

It combines two and a half full day programmes of features and entertainment, such as the Empire Ball, Majors Review (The Major's Soiree) and the National Tea Duelling final,[2] along with lots of live music and comedy and the largest steampunk market in the World, the Bazaar Eclectica.

In April 2012 The Asylum was named as Best International Convention in the Steampunk Chronicle Readers Awards. (http://steampunkchronicle.com/SPCAwards/Winners2012/tabid/514/Default.aspx)
