WeMall, formerly iTrueMart, is the flagship business-to-consumer retail platform of Ascend Group Co. Ltd., with presence in Thailand and the Philippines.[1] It taps the underserved market and aims to be a retail destination for quality brands of different products including electronics, mobiles and tablets, cameras, home appliances, personal care and health and beauty products.[2]

History

WeMall started as iTrueMart, initially a local e-commerce player in Thailand in 2014. Its partnership with authorized distributors of best local and international brands guaranteed genuine online products and customer satisfaction.[3] A specialized customer loyalty service also contributed to its growth, allowing it to achieve the highest volume of 10,000 daily orders, the highest record in Thailand’s online retail industry.

Thailand

iTrueMart Thailand became the first country venture, growing as a major player in online retail in the country. From only 400 orders per day during its startup period, it is now averaging 8,000 orders per day.[4] At its peak, orders can reach up to 17,000. To cater to increasing demand for reliable online shopping services, iTrueMart formed a cloud partnership with Amazon Web Services in 2015 for technological support and for speeding up its development process on the cloud system.[5]

Philippines

iTrueMart Philippines was launched in November 15, 2015,[6] designed to bring the Thailand shopping experience with access to competitive pricing. It began serving the Luzon region in its inception and expanded to Visayas and Mindanao in April 23, 2016. It offers exclusive discounts, hourly deals, piso sale and discount vouchers.[7]

Rebranding

Ascend Group announced the rebranding of iTrueMart to WeMall last July 6, 2016 at Sofitel Bangkok as a move to enter the marketplace sector. iTrueMart Thailand has since redirected to the WeMall website last May, while iTrueMart Philippines has yet to announce the complete transition to WeMall.
