Waterstad FM is a regional Dutch commercial radio station, founded in 2000. Waterstad FM takes its name from "the city of waters" where the station for the first time on the cable could be heard, namely Sneek. After the spectrum auction in 2003 Waterstad FM in Friesland and in the Northeast started broadcasting.

Waterstad FM was acquired on November 1, 2007 by the NDC Mediagroep. Waterstad FM was part of the company NDC Radio BV, which also RadioNL and Freez FM belong. NDC has sold its radio stations on 1 May 2013. Beheer Regionale Radio, operator of TV Oranje.[1]

NDC Media Group is now only publisher of several newspapers, magazines and websites.

Format

Waterstad FM was until 2010 a non-stop music channel, but the format has changed since September 2010 and also shows the presented programs. Regional news on Waterstad FM is provided in cooperation with editors of the Leeuwarder Courant and Dagblad van het Noorden.
