W&W is a Dutch electronic music duo from Breda, North Brabant, consisting of Willem van Hanegem (born 25 June 1987) (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈʋɪ.ləm vɑn ˈɦaː.nə.ˌɣɛm]) and Ward van der Harst (born 26 December 1988) [ˈʋɑrt fɑn dɛr ˈɦɑrst].
Background
In 2007, Van Hanegem and Van der Harst met before forming W&W. Fusing styles and mixing influences, W&W combine the uplifting and melodic elements of trance with the raw intensity of electro and progressiveness of house.[1]
Van Hanegem is the son of the Dutch football player Willem van Hanegem, Sr.
History
2014
Their single "Bigfoot" was released in February 2014. It topped the chart at Beatport, gained a lot of plays at international radio stations and festivals all over the world. Since October 2014, W&W have been hosting their own radio show on SLAM![1]
2015
In 2015, they continued their success by releasing major tracks like "Rave After Rave" and "The One", a tribute to Whitney Houston, which uses the vocal samples of Houston’s major hit "How Will I Know".
They were ranked at 14th in the 2015 annual DJ Mag Top 100 DJs list,[2] they were also performing at huge festivals around the world such as Miami Music Week, Winter Music Conference and Ultra Music Festival.
W&W became the first ever dance music act to perform at a Major League Baseball stadium when they took over Philadelphia Phillies Citizen's Bank Ball Park for a two-hour set.[1]
2016
In 2016, they released "Arcade", a new collaboration with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and a vocal solo single "How Many".[1]
