WKWZ (88.5 FM) is a radio station broadcasting an Educational format, licensed to Syosset, New York, USA. The station is currently owned by Syosset Central School District.[1] Currently, the two station managers are senior Adam Braunstein and junior Ian Capell. The current Music Director is Jacob Sugarman. The current Production Manager is senior Skyler Green.

WKWZ broadcasts from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm and shares time with Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School's WPOB in Plainview, New York.

History

Began as a pirate radio station by a Syosset High School Student in the late 1960s to early 1970s. Upon licensure by FCC in the 1970s, charter 10-Watt station sharing frequency with neighboring Plainview, NY, Kennedy High School. WKWZ (wik-wiz) fund-raisers during the late 1970s brought performers Peter Tosh and The Good Rats to the Syosset High School auditorium.
