WDCN-LP is a low-power television station in the Washington, DC area, broadcasting locally on channel 6. Currently broadcasting in Spanish, it was slated to adopt a dance music format under a lease agreement with Mega Media, a company which operates a similar station on channel 6 in New York City, WNYZ-LP. Like WNYZ, WDCN was intended to be branded as "Pulse 87" and was slated to begin broadcasting in June 2009, but financial problems at Mega Media forced those cancellations. 87.75 MHz FM is the center frequency of channel 6's audio signal, which can be received on most FM radios and thus makes a music format viable.[1] WDCN LP is currently managed by Media One Communications, Inc. since August, 2009. WDCN-LP is the flagship Spanish-language radio station for broadcasts of D.C. United soccer games.[2] It currently simulcasts on co-owned WDCO-LP, another low-power channel 6 station, licensed to Salisbury, Maryland and serving the Ocean City-Salisbury area.
