Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Dibrugarh, also known as VKV Dibrugarh, is a school in Dibrugarh, in the state of Assam, India.

History

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya was established in 1981 under the auspices of the Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari - a spiritually oriented service mission. It was constructed at New Khalihamari Road just 2.5 km from Brahmaputra with affords of Mr. K. K. Narayanan who was the mentor of Vivekananda Kendra Vidalaya, with his affords and local ones the school got the blessings of the City at every one. Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Dibrugarh had its humble beginning in the year 1981, with two rented rooms at Khaliamari - Dibrugarh. There were nine students with two teaching staff and Sri K. K. Narayanan as the founder Principal. When the construction of the school building commenced, the premise of the Vidyalaya was temporarily shifted to an abandoned garage complex in Boiragimoth, Convoy Road, Dibrugarh . In the year 1984 VKV - Dibrugarh continued functioning at Khaliamari. The number of students increased every year and construction work continued simultaneously to keep up with the burgeoning members and activities .

Finally the school shifted to its permanent location at Vivekananda Path, East Chowkidinghee, Dibrugarh in the year 1985

The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The school was upgraded to senior secondary level in 2001. The educational system is administrated by Vivekananda Kendra Shiksha Prasar Vibhag- the educational wing of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, a spiritually oriented service organization based on the 'Man Making - Nation Building Education ' as envisaged by Swami Vivekananda . The Vidyalaya endeavors not only to achieve academic excellence but also strives for imparting Nationalistic Education along with love for local culture.

The first batch of Secondary students (Class X) passed in the year 1993, and the first batch of Senior Secondary Students (Class XII) passed in 2003.

The institute has classes from Pre-Nursery to Class X and has separate computer, physics, chemistry, biology laboratories for these levels.

The school has classes for physical training, yoga and music. It also has a well coordinating band group including students of classes 8 and 9. The school has various other soft skill classes for different subjects like martial arts, various musical instruments, art and craft and many more. The school has a total of 1045 students. Different types of celebrations and functions are organised based on different occasions.
