Veruska Tatiana Ramírez (born July 30, 1979) is a Venezuelan beauty pageant titleholder who was Miss Venezuela 1997 and winner of the Best in Swimsuit award and first runner-up to Miss Universe 1998.

Miss Venezuela

In 1997, reigning Miss Venezuela Marena Bencomo visited Táchira, where Veruska approached her for an autograph. Marena encouraged her to go to Caracas to try for the Miss Venezuela title, where Osmel Sousa granted her the title of Miss Táchira.

During the 1997 Miss Venezuela pageant, Veruska competed neck-to-neck against major favorite Christina Dieckmann, winner of the Photogenic and Miss Internet awards. She managed to edge out Dieckmann, capturing the crown and the right to represent her country in Miss Universe 1998.

Miss Universe

As the official representative of her country to the 1998 Miss Universe pageant held in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was the third consecutive placement of Venezuela in the top 2; a record shared with Colombia (although Venezuela won the crown in one of those occasions). In the end, she placed first runner-up to eventual winner Wendy Fitzwilliam of Trinidad and Tobago.[1]

Kidnapping

Ramírez was kidnapped for three hours in 2003.[2]
