Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College or VRSEC was the first private institution to offer undergraduate education in engineering in Andhra Pradesh, India. The college was approved to be an autonomous institution by Acharya Nagarjuna University in the year 2006.[1]

Background

Named after the industrialist and former Indian Civil Service officer Velagapudi Ramakrishna, the College was founded in 1977. Dr. A.V Ratna Prasad is the Principal of the VRSEC.

Location

The institution is located on 40 acres (160,000 m2) of land in Kanuru on the outskirts of Vijayawada city at a distance of about 6 km from the city centre, on the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam Highway (NH 9).

Campus

The College has about 4000 students, more than 250 faculty and around 200 technical and supporting staff. Extracurricular opportunities include NCC, NSS, Students Chapters of IEEE, social clubs and sports & games.

TIFAC-CORE in Telematics is a collaborative effort of TIFAC (representing government), VR Siddhartha Engineering College and Industries in the domain of Telematics. The centre was launched on 1 February 2009.
