Vadodara Marathon is a run for charity or for purpose organized now annually/bi-annually by an organization based in Vadodara. Accredited to the Association of International Marathon and Distance Races (AIMS), the Vadodara Marathon is the recipient of the AIMS gold medal for 'smallest city, biggest Marathon'.[1]

Vadodara Marathon 2009

With an intention to promote civic sense in citizens, Vadodara Traffic Education Trust had organised Marathon on 22-Nov-2009. Nearly 31,800 participants took part in the Marathon flagged off by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in presence of Kapil Dev, Milkha Singh, Paresh Rawal, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan at Navalakhi Ground Vadodara.[2][3]

Vadodara Marathon 2011

Its year-2011 edition took place from Vaccine Institute Ground, where about 30,000 people participated on 23-Jan-2011.[4] The event had 3 categories of run: 5 km, 15 km and 21 km; which was flagged off by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.[5] For the first time in India, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags were given to each participant in the Marathons [6]

Vadodara Marathon 2012

It was organized on 5-Feb-2012.[7]

Vadodara Marathon 2013

Around 12,000 participants, including international runners, had turned up at Navlakhi compound located in the middle of the city organized on 15-Dec-2013[8][9]

Vadodara Marathon 2016

The fifth Vadodara Half Marathon would be organized on 07-Feb-2016, will be flagged off by Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel.[10][11] Veteran athlete Dr Bhagwati Oza, cricketer Yusuf Pathan, cricketer Irfan Pathan, cross country champion Vandana Parekh, Founder of RABV Birju Patel, Go carting champion Meera Erda, Dirt bike champion Veer Patel and deaf-mute cricketer Imran Sheikh are appointed as brand ambassadors. It also received a record over 65000 registrations in all categories put together.
