Upstream Research™ is a geospatial analytics company that visualizes the presence of local disease and toxic environmental risks to individuals, neighborhoods, corporations, non-profits and government agencies. The company's product, Upstream Reports™ , stratifies specific risks so that individuals and organizations can make more informed decisions about where they choose to live, work and play.

Company Overview

"Upstream Research™ is an environmental health reporting company founded in 2015 on the belief that Where You Live Matters™. Upstream analyzes open and proprietary data to offer online Upstream Reports™ of past, present and future environmental and health risks for any location in the United States.

The company began as Upstream Health Systems™ with Navigator™, an enterprise software product designed to help large healthcare systems identify, measure and forecast disease presence, related costs and create return-on-investment models for disease interventions. Essential to this effort were global, federal, state, city and community disease data and five proprietary algorithms.

The mission of the company is to "empower individuals and organizations to better understand relationships between environmental health and disease where they live, work and play"[1] Upstream Research searches terabytes of disease rates and toxic release records to reveal the quality of air, water and soil in our neighborhoods, work locations and schools.

Upstream Reports

Upstream Reports is a cloud-based platform that redirected the companie's analytical capabilities to include environmental health risk for a single place. The data are visually displayed through a web application on the company's secondary website, www.upstreamreports.com, which allows users to type in any address and receive a "comprehensive environmental health report."[2]

Upstream Reports is set to open to the public in mid-November 2016.

Events

In April 2016, Upstream Researched sponsored the Mansfield Center's Innovation & Imagination in Global Health Conference at the University of Montana.[3]

Team

Upstream Research was founded by Scott Bedbury and Nick Bedbury. The two have brought together a team of "scientists, economists, engineers, philosophers and futurists at the heart of an essential movement."[4]
