Universidad Autónoma del Estado

La Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH), is a public institution of education among high-school, upper-level, and graduate students. It has approximately 30,000 to 40,000 pupils per cycle académico.3 The UAEH ranks as one of the institutions of higher education with greater demand in the State of Hidalgo.4 was founded on March 3, 1869 under the name Literary Institute and School of Arts and Crafts; on February 24, 1961, the UAEH is created officially on March 3, 1961.5 6

Its headquarters is the city of Pachuca where their headquarters; It has important facilities of its institutes in Pachuca, Tulancingo, Mineral de la Reforma, Mineral del Monte and San Agustin Tlaxiaca. And it has eight campuses located in Actopan, Atotonilco de Tula, Ciudad Sahagun, Huejutla de Reyes, Tepeji del Rio, Tizayuca, Tlahuelilpan, and Zimapán.

UAEH is a founding member since 2005 of the Consortium of Mexican Universities (CUMEX), former rector of the UAEH, Luis Gil Borja was president of CUMEX from 2008 to 2010.

History

Literary Institute

It was founded in February 1869 with the name of Literary and School of Arts and Crafts Institute, an initiative of a group of professionals headed by Agustin Cardenas, Miguel Varela and Marcelino Guerrero. A few days later, Juan C. Doria made him an official body and opened on March 3. His first rules was issued in 1872. in 1875 the school, worked in a rented house on the street de Allende, he moved to the building of Hospital San Juan de Dios.

After the Mexican Revolution underwent several changes: in 1921 he joined other schools, calling University of Hidalgo, until 1925, when retrieves the Scientific and Literary Institute.
