"Tu Recuerdo" (English: "Your Memory") is the first single from Ricky Martin's live album, MTV Unplugged (2006). It was released on September 26, 2006, and features La Mari of Chambao. The song, written and produced by Tommy Torres, is a Jíbaro ballad as it features elements of traditional Puerto Rican music such as the Puerto Rican cuatro. It became a hit in Spanish-language countries and was nominated for the Latin Grammy Award for Record of the Year.

Chart performance

"Tu Recuerdo" was very successful on the charts in Spanish-language countries. In the United States, it topped Billboard's Hot Latin Songs for three consecutive weeks and the Latin Pop Airplay chart for thirteen weeks in 2006 and 2007. It peaked at number three on Tropical Songs and number twenty-five on Latin Rhythm Airplay. On the Billboard Hot 100, "Tu Recuerdo" reached number eighty-nine. As of January 2011, it has sold over 82,000 digital copies in the United States.[1] "Tu Recuerdo" also topped the Record Report charts in Venezuela. In Spain, it reached number one for three weeks on the Airplay Chart and peaked at number two on the Digital Singles Chart. In 2007, the digital single was certified 5× Platinum in Spain and 4× Platinum in Mexico. The "Tu Recuerdo" ringtone was also certified 3× Platinum in Spain and Gold in Mexico.

Awards

"Tu Recuerdo" won the ASCAP Latin Award in category Song of the Year Pop/Ballad Winning Song, and also won the Premio EñE de la música for Mejor Artista Solista Masculino de Habla Hispana. It was nominated for the Record of the Year at the Latin Grammy Awards of 2007 but lost Juan Luis Guerra's "La llave de mi corazón." "Tu Recuerdo" was also nominated for Hot Latin Song of the Year, Vocal Duet or Collaboration and Latin Pop Airplay Song of the Year, Duo or Group at the 2007 Latin Billboard Music Awards. It was also nominated in category Best Ballad at the 2007 Premios Juventud and for Pop Song of the Year at the Premio Lo Nuestro 2008.
