Trend News Agency (Azerbaijani: Trend Xəbər Agentliyi) is the biggest private news company in Azerbaijan, Caucasus and Central Asia.

History and profile

Founded in 1995 as a private media outlet in Azerbaijan, Trend News Agency is a leading news provider in the Caucasus, Caspian region and the Central Asia.[1] Ilgar Huseynov is the director general of the agency.[1]

Trend News Agency has five news services - Azerbaijani, English, Russian, Arabic and Persian. The services provide news of countries and regions by placing more focus on ongoing events in languages appropriate to the specific audiences. Trend publishes a daily bulletin of business news, specialized bulletins - Trend Oil and Gas, which covers oil and gas markets of the Caspian Sea region and the Central Asia; Trend Transport, which reviews the transport sector in the region; Trend Weekly Business Report and Trend Monthly Business Report - review of macroeconomic indicators of Azerbaijan’s economy; specialized edition Trend Finances - review on the financial sector; Iran Economy Review, which covers macroeconomics in Iran.

During the day the company produces news items in 5 languages including, English, Russian, Azerbaijani, Persian and Arabic.[1]

The Agency holds its correspondents in 16 countries. On 8 November 2013, the agency signed a cooperation agreement with the official news agency of Kyrgyzstan, Kabar.[1]
