Tovino Thomas (ടൊവിനൊ തോമസ്) is an Indian film actor and model who appears in Malayalam films.[1] He has been noted for his distinguished features and has been selected as one of the most desirable men by Kochi Times.[2]
Career
Tovino appeared as a model for the advertisements of Silverstorm Water Theme Park, Athirappilly and Indulekha Hair Care Oil. Prabhuvinte Makkal,[3] directed by Sajeev Anthikkad in 2012, was his debut film. Tovino played the role of Akhilesh Verma, the lead antagonist, in ABCD directed by Martin Prakkat.[4]
Tovino played a lead role in Roopesh Peethambaran's latest directorial venture You too Brutus.[5] Tovino has also worked as an Assistant Director for Roopesh Peethambaran's Theevram during its pre-production stages.[6]
Tovino appeared alongside Mohanlal in the film Koothara. He will be starring in Pournami, a road film. He has said that he is open to work in projects from other film industries as well.[7] He had portrayed the role of Perumparambil Appu in the film Ennu Ninte Moideen which garnered critical acclaim.[8]
Personal life
Tovino was born in a Syro-Malabar Catholic family in Irinjalakuda as the younger son of Adv. Ellikkal Thomas and Sheela Thomas. His siblings Tingston and Dhanya are his source of inspiration. He completed his schooling in Don Bosco High School, Irinjalakuda and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering from Tamil Nadu College of Engineering, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He later worked in Cognizant Technology Solutions as a software engineer. During his college life he was into fitness and modelling.[9]
Tovino got married to his longtime girlfriend, Lidiya at St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Cathedral, Irinjalakuda, on 25 October 2014.[10]
