Tory Tunnell

Tory Tunnell is an Los Angeles based producer who runs Safehouse Pictures with Joby Harold.[1] She co-founded Safehouse in 2005.[2]

Originally based in NY, Tunnell started out producing independent features in New York City including Holy Rollers starring Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Bartha which premiered at Sundance 2009, Trumbo starring Liam Neeson, Michael Douglas, Joan Allen, Nathan Lane, and Donald Sutherland which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival 2007, and Awake written and directed by Joby Harold starring Jessica Alba and Hayden Christensen released by The Weinstein Company in 2007.

Since moving Safehouse out to Los Angeles in 2008, the company has focused on studio feature filmmaking and television.[3] Tunnell is a producer on King Arthur: Legend of the Sword which is based on the franchise bible Knights of the Roundtable created by partner Joby Harold.[4] King Arthur is written by Harold, directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Charlie Hunnam, Jude Law, and Djimon Honsou and will be released in July 2016.[5] Tunnell is also producing Robin Hood: Origins written by Joby Harold and to be directed by Otto Bathurst for Lionsgate;[6] Executive Producing Underground for Sony and WGN starring Christopher Meloni, Jurnee Smollett and Aldis Hodge;[7] and producing My Blind Brother directed by Sophie Goodhart and starring Adam Scott, Nick Kroll and Jenny Slate.[8]

Tunnell has a first look deal with Sony Pictures with Harold, after sharing a two-year first look deal with Akiva Goldsman at Warner Bros.[9] Harold has in development Mommy & Me, originally set up at Sony with Meryl Streep and Tina Fey attached,[10] Space Invaders at WB,[11] Nemesis at WB,[12] and The Falling with Zac Efron at WB, among others.
