Tonite with HSY (Urdu: آج رات ایچ.ایس.وائے. ۔یا۔ حسن شہریار یاسین کے ساتھ‎) is a Pakistani prime time talk show hosted by Hassan Sheheryar Yasin[2] on Hum Sitaray.[3] The show premiered on September 13, 2014 and is presented by Djuice while produced by Hum Television Network.[4] The show stars HSY a prominent and most known fashion designer, it is Sheheryar television debut as a host and brief appearance except as a designer on fashion shows that airs on TV.[5] The show is produced by Hum TV associate producer Nida Lakhani and Sara Bhatti and executive produced by Hum TV CEO Sultana Siddiqui and Hum Sitaray vice president Khalid Soorty. The show records from Hum TV Studio in I.I Chundrigar Road, Karachi.

The program airs one episode every week on Saturday night at 9:10 p.m PST. The show opens with HSY's topical monologue, then transitions into guests introduction, concluding with their interview and fun interactive segments. The show debut episode attracted positive reviews from television critics and received millions viewership in Pakistan. It is aired in Europe at 9:00 pm on Hum Europe

Etymology

Show name deliberately spell as Tonite rather than Tonight. Show is written as Tonite with HSY, while understood and means as Tonight with HSY.

Background

In Pakistan talk shows mainly from news origins not from entertainment industry. It has been very less that country produced late-night, prime time or daytime entertainment talk shows that follows the International level standard and material. Tonite with HSY premiered on September 13, 2014. In an interview HSY said; "I have been offered shows many times before but I never had the time," says HSY, "I love TV and everyone knows that I love talking, so it seemed like a great time to start this up." Hassan who is not only famous but also is one of the most prominent and most reputed fashion designer of Pakistan. He has completes his 20 years in fashion industry and mark his television debut with his very own this show. According to HSY, show will be an escape from the daily hustle bustle of life and will be a completely different platform for the host and guests to converse in.[6]

About the show

In an interview HSY said:

"There is a lot of despair in our country and TV in Pakistan is a constant reminder of all the wrong things happening in our part of the world. This new show is one way to get people to focus on the positive and take a break from all the negativity in our lives. The new show is based on an entirely new format; it’s literally like walking into my house and having a chat with me. The set is very creatively designed and looks just like my house; hence, it is an ideal place to have intimate conversations with yours truly."

About the format of show Hassan said: "My vision is beyond Koffee With Karan. Tonite with HSY will neither be digging for gossip nor will it promote or project upcoming projects, it is a platform for the masses to get to know who our celebrities are and what they think about topics that do not necessarily pertain to their jobs." Show will air once a week for an hour or about 40 minutes, the show will be a completely entertainment for people.[7]

Format

Opening of episodes usually includes a brief introduction of invited guest and then beginning interactive talk among host and guest, usually after fifteen minutes or more shows main portion begins.The show follow three different segments, as follows:[8]

Love em Hate em is a section in guest are shown different celebrities pictures, and with in five second they have to tell for each picture either they Love or Hate that individual.

Ajnabi Kaun Ho Tum is a second segments in which each present guest will receive an anonymous phone call from family, friends and colleagues for which they have to guess the name of caller without asking caller's name.

Tarka is a third and final round in which Question and Answers session is panned, guests will be given Questions written on ballot and they have to crossfire each other by asking questions one by one.

Debut episode

Shows debut episode premiered on September 13, 2014[9] which features Pakistan two most prominent and famous faces, Mahira Khan and Fawad Afzal Khan.[10] Without any self introduction HSY, spontaneously conducts the interview with the guest and follows the show arranged format. Mahira and Fawad were asked about their life, success and achievements after their ground breaking serial Humsafar. HSY then starts shows three segments, starting from Mahira to Fawad, Mahira won the game and was given PKR 50, 000 voucher/gift-hamper from Contradictions furniture store.[11]
