Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Take-Down – Missions in Korea is a South Korean-made Microsoft Windows game release on July, 2001. The game is not based on the Rainbow Six game timeline, it is designed for global market but was not released outside of South Korea. Kama Digital Entertainment bought Rogue Spear engine to develop this game with major content difference and the game's events on South Korean soil.

In the game, RAINBOW gets deployed to South Korea and battles seemingly armed terrorists and criminals that have committed various acts, mostly against South Korean nationals. Later on, they find out they are actually faced against a Yakuza group trying to outsmart them and keep them occupied.[2]

Plot

In August 2003, one of biggest Drug trafficking in Korea about 550kg of ecstasy has been a failure by some Anonymous tip for Korean National Police Agency.

Suk-won Kim(김석원), a Zainichi also known as Japanese Name "Yasuo" has the informant of this Drug Operation. Kim was a one of Professional Hitman of Japan's largest Yakuza Organization "Ikeshita-gumi(Ikeshida-Jo; 이케시다조; 池下組(assumed)) " and a largely credited with the Ikeshita-gumi's Victory of War against Yamaguchi-gumi in July.

but he was framed by second-in-command(Wakagashira) of Ikeshita-gumi, Takao because he has a threat of Takao's current position. after Kim was exiled, he wants revenge for his former Organization so Kim contact Takahashi, a former colleague and also Old Orphanage Buddy for gather the Information of Ikeshita-gumi. Takahashi is going alone to Chuncheon, His Mother's Hometown and keep contact with Kim.

Meanwhile, after the failure of extensive Drug Smuggling Operation in Korea, Ikeshita-gumi hiring ATX, a Palestinian Terrorist Group led by Hamad whose have financial problem since the lost support from the Syria and Iran government. and 10 days later, they also deploy Takao with Sasamoto the Head Hitman, and other about 100 Hitmans of Ikeshita-gumi.

as Ikeshita-gumi's Hired guns, ATX captured USFK Colonel Smith and several Korean employee as Hostage in Doosan Tower, Seoul. and at the same time, a Esctacy had to originally transported from Busan District Prosecutor's Office to National Intelligence Service Bunker, has been carjacked by Ikeshita-gumi's Hitmans. its caused death of five and Injured of ten. so RAINBOW gets summoned by South Korean officials to be deployed to South Korea for Rescue Operation of Col.Smith, and Joint Operation with Special Response Team(비상대책반) including Elites from Korean National Police, Military, NIS. and next missions after the Doosan Tower's Hostage Situation continues to be placed under RAINBOW's watch, RAINBOW revealed the connection between Ikeshita-gumi and ATX from Intels founded in Ikeshita-gumi's hideout in Korea, also a place Locked up Col.Smith and watch him with some of ATX members.

and few month later, RAINBOW and SRT receive additional tip from Kim and Resolve the another Ikeshita-gumi's Drug Retrieve Plan in Incheon and save the Hostages. Still, a remnants of ATX and Hamad cause an another incident in COEX using a stole Identity from already Murdered employees of United Medicine Company. as ATX members and Hamed has been neutralized, a Case of ATX and Col.Smith's has been closed officially. but John Clark decided still remain in South Korea until the Ikeshita-gumi's Terror Threat has been completely removed.

the RAINBOW and SRT give an eye to Tae-ho Choi(최태호), a Korean Antique dealer of Insa-dong in Seoul and also suspected as Local organizer of Ikeshita-gumi. so they infiltrated Choi's Villa in North Gyeongsang Province for install a Bug and surveillance. after they catch the info of his extraction, Choi has been Surrounded in Insa-dong with Takao and his Hitmans and take hostage some of Citizen. soon enough, Choi, Takao and his henchmen are all neutralized except Sasamoto.

but at the moment, Ikeshita-gumi Finally found who was the Informant and they using his friend Takahashi for Luring him to Children Hall in Chuncheon. Kim decided escape the NIS Safehouse and go for his Friend, and RAINBOW and Special Response Team also arrived in Children Hall to Rescue Both. But Takahashi already DOA in the scene and Kim has been Kidnapped Somewhere. just before die, he left note about asking about entrust his own family, and E-mail account which used for Contact with Kim. meanwhile, Intelligence catch the bank record Choi Send his money to a Company whose introduced some Tourist Submarine.

RAINBOW and SRT Finally bring all the pieces of the puzzle to the right place. and Joint Team dispatched to the Gadeokdo Lighthouse fell to the Ikeshita-gumi. they neutralized all Yakuza's Including Sasamoto, Rescue the Kim and also Shut Down the Ikeshita-gumi's Drug Smuggling Operation.


Setting

In the Tom Clancy universe, this game is placed between Rogue Spear - Urban Operations and Rogue Spear - Covert Ops Essentials. As such, it is considered to be set in an alternate timeline where the events of Coverts Ops Essentials and other subsequent titles after Urban Operations never took place since Take-Down is not considered to be part of the Rainbow Six game series.[3]

Content

Major differences in the game include 15 South Korean RAINBOW operatives, 26 game maps, 4 RAINBOW uniforms, and 15 firearms, some of which showcase South Korean-made weapons like the Daewoo K2 assault rifle and the Daewoo K3 light machine gun.

Only 5 non-South Korean operatives were in the game, including Ding Chavez and Eddie Price.

on 24 January 2001, 1.03 Patch was released including additional Missions(Operation Silent Mare, Operation White Zone), Maps, and Weapon(K7 SMG).[4] in two additional Mission, Player Facing the International Hostage Situation in Gangwon Ski Resort. a Situation which Anarchist Extremist group Called "GFAO(Government Free Activist Organization)" Helding ASEAN public officials as hostage for against the all kind of Globalization.

Development

It was announced on a press conference on February 5, 2001 that the game would be released in June 2001.[3] Despite promises from Red Storm Entertainment that the game would be released internationally, it was not released in North America, Europe, or any other country except for South Korea.[3]
