Tiya Sircar (born May 16, 1982) is an American actress. She is best known for her roles in The Internship, 17 Again, and the series Vampire Diaries.[1]

Early life

Sircar was born in Fort Worth, Texas of Indian Bengali descent. The daughter of two college professors, Sircar became involved in the performing arts at the age of three. She began with dance (first Indian classical and folk dance, then ballet, jazz, lyrical and modern) but after taking her first acting class at age seven, she realized that acting was the craft she wanted to cultivate into a career.

Sircar attended the University of Texas at Austin, receiving two bachelor's degrees: one in Business/Marketing, the other in Theater & Dance. While there, she was a Texas Spirit. After college, she moved to Los Angeles to realize her dream of being a professional actor.[2]

Career

Sircar has appeared in a wide variety of television shows such as House MD, Hannah Montana, Greek, Moonlight, Numbers, Privileged, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and was a recurring character on The Suite Life on Deck. In 2008, she played a Mac Genius as part of Apple’s national ad campaign. The following year, she voiced an animated character for the Disney show Phineas & Ferb. She was cast in New Line Cinema's 17 Again as "Samantha"–a high school senior with a crush on the lead character played by Zac Efron.[1]

In the summer of 2009, Sircar introduced fans to her passion for the environment and vast fashion and beauty sense when she was asked to write as a Guest Celebrity Editor for online beauty magazine Beauty Blitz. She informed her readers on the best eco-friendly spas, her favorite organic beauty products and essential animal friendly labels.

Sircar appeared on Season One of the Lifetime's Witches of East End. She also recently completed production on an indie comedy entitled Miss India America. This marks Sircar's first lead role in a feature film. The film's cast also includes Hannah Simone from Fox's New Girl who also served as an executive producer.

Sircar enjoyed her most significant professional success to date, starring in 20th Century Fox's 2013 summer release, The Internship. A comedy also starring Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, and Rose Byrne, The Internship marked a major milestone in Sircar's film career.[3]

In addition to on-camera work, Sircar has a keen interest in voice-over work, specifically for animation. To date, she has voiced lead characters in two different animated projects: 20th Century Fox's feature film, Walking with Dinosaurs 3D;[4] and Disney/LucasFilm's television series, Star Wars Rebels, which began airing on Disney XD in October 2014. Sircar provides the voice of Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian graffiti artist and explosives expert.[5]

On March 24, 2014, it was announced that Sircar would star in the CBS Pilot "How I Met Your Dad", a spinoff of the successful How I Met Your Mother.[6][7]
