Tigrisoma is a genus of heron in the family Ardeidae. Established by William John Swainson in 1827, it contains the following species:[1]
- Bare-throated tiger heron, Tigrisoma mexicanum
- Fasciated tiger heron, Tigrisoma fasciatum
- Rufescent tiger heron, Tigrisoma lineatum
The name Tigrisoma is a combination of two Greek words: tigris, meaning "tiger" and somā, meaning "body".[2]
