Deputy Chief Thomas Matthews is a fictional character in the Showtime television series Dexter. He was portrayed by Geoff Pierson in the television series. He is a captain in the fictitious Miami-Metro Homicide Department, and the highest known superior officer of Dexter and Debra Morgan.
Character history
Thomas Matthews was one of the closest friends and colleague of the father Harry Morgan of Debra Morgan and Dexter Morgan. In the series he is the Deputy Chief of both and kept watch over both, in honor of its death friend, their father. In season 6 he is blackmailed María LaGuerta (Lauren Vélez) after she found its name on a prostitute's ledger. After Debra Morgan discovers he was present at the death of a prostitute, and LaGuerta brings the news to the public, he will be forced to retire. In season 7 he helps LaGuerta in her search for the Bay Harbor Butcher.
