The Monkey King 3: Land of Beauty is an upcoming Hong Kong-Chinese fantasy film based on the classic novel Journey to the West by Wu Cheng'en. The film is the third installment of the Monkey King series, after The Monkey King (2014) and The Monkey King 2 (2016). Directed by Cheang Pou-soi, it stars Aaron Kwok, Feng Shaofeng, Zhao Liying, Xiaoshenyang and Him Law. The film will be released in February 2018.

Plot

As Tang Sanzang (Feng Shaofeng) and his three proteges head into the all-female territory in the Xi Liang nation known as Women’s Country, they meet the ruler of the country (Zhao Liying). On Sun Wukong (Aaron Kwok)'s suggestion, Tang Sanzang pretends to marry the ruler and lies that his three students will go to fetch the scriptures in place of him. Later, he pretends to see his students off and escapes with Sun Wukong's help when the four of them are safely outside the city.

Production

On December 4, 2016, it was announced that Zhao Liying would play the role of the Ruler of Women's Country.[2] The original cast members of The Monkey King 2; Aaron Kwok, Feng Shaofeng, Xiaoshenyang and Him Law would be reprising their roles as Sun Wukong, Tang Sanzang, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing respectively in the film.[3]
