The Man Who Wouldn't Stand Up is a 2012 novel by the American writer Jacob M. Appel. It won the Dundee International Book Prize, the largest monetary British Prize for first novels, in 2012, and was published by Cargo Publishing.[1][2] The judges included Philip Pullman and Stephen Fry.[3]

Charlotte Runcie described the book as "reminiscent of DBC Pierre’s Booker Prize winner Vernon God Little, with a splash of Kafka for good measure."[3]
