Josh "The Fat Jew" Ostrovsky is an American pop-culture commentator and model.[1]

Personal life

Born on Manhattan's Upper West Side, Ostrovsky attended Trevor Day School, Skidmore College then New York University. However, he was expelled from both Universities, and eventually settled at the State University of New York at Albany, where he studied journalism. He is from Jewish descendants, his father was a radiologist and his mother a nutritionist.

Career

Early in his career, Ostrovsky worked on the E! Channel and was a member of the rap group Team Facelift.

He has contributed to Bloomberg Television and promoted Virgin Mobile, Burger King, Bud Light and Beats Electronics. In 2015, he launched the wine brand White Girl Rosé.[2] He hosted a radio show on Apple Music Beats 1 called "Money, Pizza, Respect" and released a book of the same name in 2015 with Grand Central Publishing. He is an Instagram star, having over nine million followers, where he posts an unusual perspective on current events, politics, celebrities and social affairs, coupled with his own brand of self deprecating humor.

He claims to be a "plus-size model" and has appeared as a main player in the music video for DNCE's "Cake by the Ocean" and in Inked[3] magazine, recreating poses from notable photo-shoots.[4]

Controversy

Following a 2015 controversy, Ostrovsky admitted to the unauthorized use of several comedians' jokes.[5] The controversy drew attention to the cancellation of Ostrovsky's Comedy Central pilot,[6] which a representative from the network said happened months prior.[7]
