The Dukes Of Bröxstônia is an Australian short animated television series created by Suren Perera and Stu Connolly, aired on ABC3[1] for kid´s broadcast aired over 3 seasons. The show also airs on Disney XD in the United States and on Cartoon Network in Asia and Latin America.

Premise

The series is about 3 teenagers who make up a hard rocking punk band from Broxstonia. Singer Arj, drummer Barj and guitarist Larj are always on tour, enjoying fast but mad adventures, living the dream away from home despite their worst foes, rival band The Lukes of Floxstônia.

All Lukes have the first name Luke. They are a boy band from neighbouring Floxstônia. They are the Dukes' rivals.

Season 1

Season 1 was aired on ABC3 and contain 10 episodes of 45 seconds, premiering on 2 August 2010 and ending on 2 January 2011 and was presented on 480 SDTV format.

Season 2

Season 2 was aired on ABC3 and contain 10 episodes of 3 minutes, premiering on 10 January 2011 and ending on 23 January 2012 and was presented on 1080i HDTV format.

Season 3

Season 3 was aired on ABC3 and contain 10 episodes of 7 minutes (official running), premiering on 15 April 2013 and ending on 26 April 2013 and was presented on 1080i HDTV format.

Production

On 2 August 2010, the first series of ten shorts of 45 seconds long, premiered. Critical acclaim and positive about the series lead to it being nominated for Best Teen Series at the Kidscreen Awards 2010, up against more famous long running series such as Total Drama Island. A second season that is called by many "The Dukes of Broxstonia Series 2" premiered on 23 January 2012, again only ten episodes but this time 3 minutes long. The 3 minute format was successful, nominated for Best Teen/Tween Animated series at Cartoons on the Bay, Best TV Film at SICAF Korea and Best Teen Animation at Stuttgart Animation Festival. This series is also one of Disney Channel US's 'Favourites' airing on their online channels. A season 3 of "The Dukes Of Bröxstônia" finished production in 2013 and debuted on ABC3 in April 2013 now in 7 minute episodes - which include 3 minute episodes, Bröxstônian advertisements and channel idents to form a Bröxstônian TV broadcast. Again only ten were produced. The Dukes episode "Mojo" was selected for the Annecy Animation Festival 2013, New York's Animation Block Party and nominated for Best Short Animation in the Australian Film industry awards, the AACTA Awards. The Dukes won best Children's production at the SPA Awards 2013 and is nominated again in Best Teen/Tween series at the Kidscreen 2013 Awards.
