Opened in 2007, The Art Institute of Michigan is a branch of The Illinois Institute of Art — Chicago.[1] Located in the Detroit suburb of Novi, Michigan, The Art Institute of Michigan is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.[2] The school had 58 students enrolled as of February 2008, just four months after opening.[3]

The Art Institute of Michigan is one of The Art Institutes, a system of more than 40 educational institutions located throughout North America, providing education in design, media arts, fashion and culinary arts. The Art Institutes system is a subsidiary of Education Management Corporation, which is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, the Art Institute of Michigan's graduation rate is 31% and its student loan default rate is 14.3%[4]
