Thari Mirwah (Sindhi: ٺري ميرواهه) or Thari (Sindhi: ٺري), is the capital city of Mirwah Subdivision (Mirwah taluka) in Khairpur District, Sindh, Pakistan.[1]

Although the crime rate is very low in Thari Mirwah, sometimes incidents happen.

Likewise other parts of Sindh the conditions of roads in Thari Mirwah is pitiable, however; recently rehabilitation of Thari-Setharja road is being carried out and some construction done.In the eastern side of Thari is desert which is best known as Thar desert, a single road from Dhedano village to Savan gas field and here it turns into the gas company’s blacktop highroad.[5]

The newly constructed Mehran Highway is the only highway which connects Nawabshah District to Khairpur and passes through the jurisdictions of Thari Mirwah, Faiz Ganj, Bandhi, Daur. Its was in pending since 7 years and caused heavy environmental pollution due redtapism and incomplete construction.[6] After its completion now it has been illegally used by the buses and coaches going to Panjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Fata which have many caused accidents.[7][8][9][10] A passenger bus of Uch Sharif Bahawalpur overturned and slipped off the road on Mehran highway near Sui Gas bus stop within the jurisdiction of Thari Mirwah police station.[11]

On 24 August 2014, a coach coming from Punjab to Karachi collided at Kot lalu with a van of Thari city which was traveling form Karachi to Thari Mirwah; 10 passengers including one woman were killed on the spot, and 11 injured. All these passengers were natives of Thari Mirwah.[12]

There are governmental as well as private educational institutions in Thari. Languages of instruction include Sindhi and English. Government Boys Model High School is an oldest High School having architectural shape of English alphabet letter E. Students are required to sit the Matric Exams and Higher Secondary Examination after successful result they gets Secondary School Certificate, Higher Secondary School Certificate including college side regular or private degree examinations as well as Technical School Certificate. After completing secondary education, students enroll in college. Students from Thari Mirwah also seek admission to professional graduation colleges, universities in Sindh and other institutions, universities in Pakistan and abroad particularly China.

Health

Thari Mirwah has taluka hospital Rural Health Centre, Marie Stopes Society MSS clinic and other private clinics. The rural health centre does not meet the emergency rapid response capability,that needs to be up-gradation by the Sindh government.Due to lack of education and religious beliefs about 30 children of vicinities died from measles who were later brought for treatment at taluka hospital Thari. Dr Qurban Sahito, taluka hospital medical superintendent commented that the people in far flung areas still adhere to old customs and beliefs of the Hindu mythology even though most of them are Muslims.[15]
