Tashkent Planetarium is one of the newest constructions in Uzbekistan, which is visited by local people and by tourists. Tashkent Planetarium provides visitors with the opportunity to look at outer space even in the morning and enlarge their knowledge about the cosmos and the whole universe.[1]

About

Tashkent Planetarium was established by the edict of “Cabinet of Ministers of Republic Uzbekistan” in 3 November 2003 №649, by decision of Tashkent city municipality of 7 November 2003 №748. Tashkent Planetarium is nowadays controlled by the controlling unit of Tashkent city municipality which focuses on culture and sport issues.

There are two main halls at the Tashkent Planetarium, and each hall has its own functions. The first hall is mainly built for showing the Solar system and the space by the technologies which are brought from Japan. The second hall is for exponents, where visitors can learn more about the specific planets and Earth. Tashkent Planetarium everyday receives excursions which are held by universities, colleges and schools, which means that Tashkent Planetarium is popular among the younger generation of Uzbekistan.

Tashkent Planetarium plays big role in development of astronomy in Uzbekistan. In the year of 2008 group of scientists were able to find the new planet called “Samarkand”,[2] exactly at the Tashkent Planetarium.[3][4]
