Takydromus toyamai, also known as Miyako grass lizards, are small lizards. They rarely exceed 10" in length. (Most of that is tail). They are usually green, while some juveniles can be brown. They are active lizards coming out during the day to forage for small insects. This species is found in the Miyako Islands in the southern Ryukyu Islands.[1] They are listed as endangered by the IUCN due to deforestation, and the introduction of peacocks and weasels.[1] If you choose to keep them as pets, Miyako grass lizards like the temperature to be around 80-90 degrees during the day, and 60-75 degrees at night. They prefer it if the humidity is around 78%.
